Do u remember needing miracles in the 1st 2 series and being destroyed by NJ even in the 2 games we won? I said the same thing last season too mind you. His system is figured out by every other coach in the league. And even with last year. 8th... 9th... and now looking at another missed playoffs. Yup this guy is great

Full season, full training camp. New prospects who should make a big splash. There is a lot to be excited about and there is no one saying Torts will be here for sure either, which I am honestly indifferent about.

Again, Torts himself said that's no excuse. I have to concur with that statement considering there are 29 other teams in the same position as us.

I honestly would feel indifferent about them having a training camp. Now, a shooting camp I can get fully behind.

It's not an excuse. I'm not using it as one, however do you not believe it will help the team to have a full training camp and pre-season next year?

Did you factor in the goaltender carrying a franchise for 8 years? Next season will be 9.

sure, with a shortened season, it's no excuse, but not every team changed 50% of their forwards like we did.

do you expect Torts to say anything less?
 
4 days to the dealine. Can't believe the lack of news? Usually there is a lot going on at this time. Drips and drabs from the beat writers on potential acquisitions, etc... Maybe they really are standing pat?

Hasek carried Buffalo for a long time. He was quite old before he went cup hunting elsewhere. Look how old Kipper is. Still hasn't moved.

Maybe because that still doesn't nullify this team not scoring and looking inept at times?

Yeah but most years before this year the team in front of him was decent to good. Last year we were a great team all the way down. Sure, we didn't score in bunches but we scored when we had to and our defense was extraordinary. This year is really the first year in a while where we truly stink most of the time. I'm sure he knows that maybe not this year (although we could certainly make a late run ala Kings) but as soon as next season we'll be a hockey team again.

He gave them 9 season before hightailing out himself. Hasek and Kiprusoff at least got to the big dance with their respected teams?

Lundqvist and the Rangers? ECF.

I don't disagree Henrik will go cup hunting at some point. Not to mention this organization will trade anyone. They traded Leetch.

Maybe he could go cup hunting in..... New York City! (dun dun duuunnn)

On paper, with some deadline acquisitions and prospects maturing, I'd say we're top 3 in the league next year.
 
Any chance we could pry Tatar out of Detroit for Gaborik? They have a pretty old lineup, and if they want to get the most out of Datysuk/Zetts, this is the trade to do it. Gabs would thrive in Detroit. Would be back to 40 goals in no time playing there, IMO.

And I ****ing love how Tatar plays, and I think Torts would too. Incredibly skilled, plays hard, and has a nose for the net.

we're really not that a far away.. we have the pieces..i think we havent even reached our potential yet.. next few years should be fun!

Next year is huge. We could be possible be adding 3 fresh players in Lindberg, Fasth, and McIlrath.

Lindberg and Fasth could add depth to our dire bottom six, and Big Mac could be the answer to shoring up our bottom pairing.

We'll see.

Still need to do something with Gaborik before next season. Clearly it's him or Torts, and even if you hate Torts, it's Gabs who has to (or will) go.
 
Tortorella is the one who has to go.

Also, this teams struggles, as someone else pointed out earlier today, started before the playoffs. Pretty sure we ended the season on a .500 streak, scraped our way through the playoffs and are currently still .500.

IMO, this isnt a recent development. Gaborik and Richards were still going strong then, but this teams struggles are more than that.

Curious to know what our record is against teams in the top 7 (we're currently 8th) or teams playing .500 or better. I think its brutal:shakehead
