Rumor: Trade Rumours Thread Part V: Gaborik "available"; LeBrun: NYR interested in D. Boyle

If the Rangers do trade Gabby to Vancouver they'd have to take back a big contract like Jason Garrison or David Booth.

Washington is another candidate but once again, either Green is Backstrom would have to come back and both are on the decline. I wouldn't mind that so much if one of Johannsen/Orlov/Forsberg and maybe even Chimeria could come back in the deal.

Best option for restocking comes with the Wings if they'd be interested. Take your pick of Tatar/Ferraro/Nyquvist/Jurco/Frk. I'd even be willing to take back Bertuzzi or Samuelson.

Once again, I'm not supporting the idea of trading Gabby just to trade him, but if they can restock the forwards in the system (once Fasth/Lindberg/St. Croix turn pro the only one left with any real offensive potential is Nieves and he's 2-3 years away) then it might be worth exploring.

I'm willing to take back Dubi too if CLB would do Boyle/Asham one of the 3rds for Dubi. They'd save 1.5 million in cap and for us Dubi+Miller+Pyatt>Boyle+Miller+Pyatt.

Feel free to yell at me

Gaborik is signed for one more year at $7.5M. Booth has two more years at $4.25M cap and $9.25M in real dollars. Garrison has 5 more years. $4.6M cap. $22M in real dollars. Why would the Rangers do that? VAN can compliance buyout Booth and Ballard for the money to pay Gaborik IF there was a fit between the team.

There really is no fit with Vancouver, like you said, I don't want either one of those guys, I doubt they would give up Kassian or Kessler, what else they got?

I'd love him too. Rumblings in Bawston also say that the B's are probably not resigning him.

if that is true. i hope he is one of Sather's targets on July 1.. Rangers need more skilled guys with grit... they dont have much of that..

Ugh don't want Horton at all. Don't like his smug face and injury proneness.

man... We can't say we want more talented players who play a tougher hockey etc than refute everyone because we simply dont like them. Sweater colors will change anyone's opinion of anyone

anyway back to Horton who I would love, we can't realistically offer him 4+ mil (which is what he's making now) to sign him unless they moved Gaborik or something.

Dude...if Gaborik gets us Niklas Backstrom, I pack Gabby's bags, buy the airplane tickets, drive Gabs to the airport, and carry his Christmas trees to his home in Washington every single year.

No need for an airplane, I'll carry him to Washington.

Backstrom is a hell of a player.

The Rangers have liked Brassard since his draft year. He's young enough that he could develop with the younger core, and, to me, would signal that the Rangers are likely to amnesty Richards...meaning the Rangers are pleased with Stepan's development, and consider him a #1, while Brassard slides into the 2nd line center spot.

Backstrom is on the decline? I'll take my chances with a declining Backstrom...best player on the Caps right now.

I'd be satisfied with a Fisher/Blum/#1 pick for Gaborik and a 3rd.

HOw do you know? he barely played LW. He played LW in Columbus and consistentely produced

When Torts put him out with Callahan with Nash on the left he was out of place.

Nash said he is more comfortable on the rightt side. he's the teams bast player. He clearly works well on the Right side. Why change that?

Horton, when healthy, would be perfect.

the 'when healthy' part is a big 'if' but i agree. i'm a big fan...

and i personally think the bruins are nuts to let him go...it is ridiculous how much better the bruins are in recent years with him in the lineup. it just seems like when he is healthy everything fits into place perfectly for them, but when he's out they start shifting guys around and become a mess. assuming of course that they don't replace him with perry, i think they will regret it.

There are not that many rental options out there IMO. A lot of nothing in this free agent class with teams that are going to be falling out of the race or looking to rebuild. Morrow might be an interesting player if they choose him. Change of scenery might be best for him.

I would not want to give up a lot for any move for a rental. Would have to be a player with a longer contract or under team control for a while. While that may mean giving up more of an asset to get them, it would better suit this team.

Kesler is not even playing. He broke his foot. That guy is damaged goods. He isn't close to the player he was before getting hurt in the 2011 playoffs.

i think the bigger issue is that there are alot more good RW than LW (or atleast it seems that way). every winger that is mentioned is another RW so we have tons of depth down the right side and nothing down the left...

so even if nash works on the right side, wouldn't it make more sense to put nash on the left where he played most of his career to create balance then to move gaborik or callahan who have never played LW before?

i like nash on the right too...but unless you are trading gabby for a legit LW, then moving nash to the left probably makes the most sense.
