If Klefbom was gone for the season Chia wouldve picked up one of the Dmen that just went throuh waivers. Klefa will be back this seasom im sure..

I don't think Klefbom's health status has any bearing on the Oilers passing on mediocre d-men going through waivers. The team has a glut of bottom pairing/fringe d-men. Adding more doesn't help the team, Klefbom or not.

What would the NHL's policy on players utilizing prostheses to play be? If he had a specially designed hockey leg attached would he be qualified to play if he could play at this level?

Still too soft of a forward group. My lineup is probably too soft as well. Problem is those power forwards are hard to acquire. Any chance of a Lucic signing this summer? Chia certainly has a history with this guy. If Pouliot gets dealt at the deadline I would take that as a tell that Chia will go hard after him.

Would we even have the cap space to roll out a Lucic McDavid Stamkos line? That would be insane.

Hall Drai Kassian
Lucic(6.5) McDavid Stamkos(9)

That's around 30 mil on the top 6 with some bonus money added for McDavid and Drai.

The Pens are spending over 35 on their top 6 forwards, the Hawk's above 30 as well with over 18 mil on their top 2 defensemen and starting goalie. The Ducks are close to 25 mil on 3 forwards.

It would be feasible for 3-4 years at least and if the Oilers get Hamonic that would allow them to run an affordable top pair around 8 mil. Going to be an interesting summer I think.

That is one hell of a top 6, very drool worthy.

Jesus, you guys are insane lol. I think the chance of Oscar ever playing hockey again if he lost his leg is 0% and I also think the chance of him needing amputation is about the same. I'd assume he wouldn't be at Rexall watching the game if he was at risk for developing necrotizing fasciitis, but then again I admit I know a lot more about sport injury than I do about bacterial infections lol. Either way it sucks that he's out, but I don't think we should be panicking over the possibility of him needing amputation.

Stamkos isn't coming to Edmonton as a free agent. Sorry.

You could offer him the max in dollars and term and I don't think he'd choose to come to Edmonton.

He's going to either stay in Tampa or he'll be a Leaf. Fancy, flowery words towards McDavid don't mean anything.

Didn't he get a 20- or 25-game suspension when he was with the Flyers some years ago.

I believe that was because he decided to take Dean McCammond's head off

Sometimes you want that kind crazy on your side given the disrespect our players get but I've read that he's also like that to his own teammates so not sure if he's the best option

The McDavid works in mysterious ways. Do not question his powers.

If Stamkos signs here we should trade him to Columbus for Seth Jones because apparently all of our players have no value.

I'm still not sure why we should give a fiddler's **** about Stamkos.

This is the absolute last team that should have any interest. Like, not even a phone call should take place.

Well Chia's gonna have to block his number then. Apparently Stamkos has been calling all season asking if he can play with his idol McDavid, and Chia keeps having to tell him that he's not allowed to speak to him until July 1st.

You are misinformed. The window opens right before the draft to allow teams to talk to upcoming UFA's. That is when Chia can officially respond to Stamkos' pleas to sign here.:yo:

Works out well for the Oilers as they can trade RNH, Eberle, and Yak for defense and two way forwards at the draft and still roll out two of the best tandems in the league up front.:sarcasm:

You're right, I forgot about that change. Either way Stamkos needs to cool it until then.

If Klefa is out long term Yandle would be a good pick up. Something plus conditional pick..
walk away and keep the pick if he doesnt prove to be worth it

For all of the talk that we can trade our forwards for D and that we have enough scoring...

-We haven't been able to score at all lately
-25th in GF
-19th in shots per game

If we deal Eberle, then Stamkos makes sense here. Adding a potential 50 goal scorer should peak the interest of 29 different teams.

I think he goes to neither TB or Toronto. Watch him go to Montreal.

I agree with your sentiments totally, and the one thing is great defenses make it easier for your offense to score because your not always playing from behind.

I would say he either re-signs - what Yzerman is doing is totally bad p.r. relations. Not only that, but Stamko's sells that organization. I bet in the end it will be a last minute over pay and/or I know it doesn't happen to long, but gets traded for even something little.
Almost like a Jarome Iginla situation traded to Pittsburgh, then signs in the off season with Boston.

I just can't see a cut we're losses will get nothing out of this.

that and how many goals or better yet shots/chances does this team get from the point? Basically none. There is no back and forth between D men when we enter the zone because none of the pairs has two players who are both good at passing and creating room for eachother and for the forwards in the zone.

I hope not. First the two year Eakins staph infection and now this.

RNH for Hamonic +
Eberle for Vatanen

Worry about the forwards this summer.

You know it is a bit crazy, but I would inquire about Stamkos and ask the Bolts how he feels about playing with McDavid for the next 8 years.

I vote for combining these 2.
RNH for Hamonic+
Eberle for Yandle+
Go for Stamkos UFA.

Yes so we do need the D upgrade for not just defensive reasons.

I don't understand why someone around here wouldn't want to at least try to get Stamkos though. Every team with the cap room should try to get Stamkos because he scores goals and you need goals to win.

Go for Stamkos UFA.

You would be looking at potentially paying 18-20 million when Mcdavid is finished his entry contract for two guys.

The cap will stay the same or go lower. You would have to trade RNH/Eberle get that 12 mil off the books and downgrade your forward group.

You essentially be the Pittsburgh Penguins give all the money for two forwards and have no balance in your lineup. If you take Malkin, Crosby, Letang, Fleury, Kessel - that's 37 million in 5 guys.

Chicago is a little better at 32-34 million when it comes to Seabrook, Crawford, Keith, Kane, Toews.

If you take that same contingent - 2-3 forwards +1-2 dman + goalie I think your risking it if your the Oilers

Hall (6m), Mcdavid/Stamkos+ Talbot+ +1 dman(hypothetically Nurse) your investing a lot for unproven guys.
