And with a third line of Formenton-Pinto-Brown(or Joseph), it might just be the best top-9 too.

Add a top 4 D like Weegar and we'll have an above average D too:

Chabot - Weegar
Sanderson - Zub
Holden - Hamonic

Only big question mark at that point would be goaltending, but if Forsberg maintains his play from last season not only are we a playoff team but a contender.

Really hope PD can pull it off.

I've been seeing this a lot and I only have one thing to say.

We all need to discuss whether it's right to list the lines in this order.
Hardly matters, they're both legit first lines.

I think there's a chance they consider flipping Giroux and Batherson. Stutzle and DeBrincat might benefit from a bigger body that can do some board work but still has soft hands. Then Giroux becomes the primarily puck handler with Norris and Tkachuk.

What are the odds that each guy goes point a game?
Has that ever been done?

I remember Lemieux, Jagr, Kovalev, Straka and Lang killing it one year in particular and i think iirc 5 of the top 6 scorers or something that year. Jan Hrdena was dragged along for some decent numbers too maybe? Cant recall anything else comparable.

Avs almost did it this year, but one of their 5 PPG players was Makar, Nichushkin and Toews came close

Blues had 4 PPG players this year + Schenn who was close

Oh man... I feel dirty...

Make it happen Dorion, Giroux would be legendary...
After that add a top 4 RHD and call it a night.
I am going to speculate that we also sign Bokondji Imama and Martin Frk as well. Imama has the Saint John's Sea Dogs connection to Chabot and Joseph and has been training with Joseph this offseason. It gives the Sens a heavy and a close friend of Chabot and Joseph which should make them both happy.

Frk has a harder shot than Chara and is coming off a 40 goal season in the AHL. If the Sens get Giroux and move Brown then they might want a bit more RW depth. Frk's shot is ridiculous and he is a good goal scorer and a good character guy. He wouldn't have a spot locked up and wouldn't cost the same as most other UFA's but have the chance to be a big payoff if he can find a role in Ottawa.

The Sens might also look to add another goalie and then the rest would likely just be AHL depth.

Best top 6 in the league is a little over the top. Norris, Stutzle and Batherson don’t have even 2 full seasons in the NHL and Brady has more development coming. It’s a dangerous top 6 and it’s above average but there are better groups.

Interesting. Guess more common than I thought to be so close.

I looked back at that 2000-01 team and it was 5 of the 6 with Hrdina way behind. Lang was technically short by 2 points, but Jagr, Lemieux,Kovalev & Lang were all well over a ppg each.

Scoring is up and on the powerplay in particular, so that's helping boost numbers for top offensive players.

I'd be very surprised (if we sign Giroux) that all 6 would hit a PPG. 2 of the 6 would likely be pushed to the second PP and would limit their opportunities compared to the others.

"I think DJ might play Brady with Tabby and Timmy the odd time if other teams start "taking liberties" with them.

For what its worth - was told by someone connected that Giroux is signing a short term deal with the sens tomorrow. Who knows if true but they were right once before about this kinda thing.

Has anyone heard some Giroux stuff

Please
Steve Lloyd today said “I’m calling it…Giroux is going to be a Senator”, and I don’t think he says that if he doesn’t have a tip.

And I think he wears number 28…because that number will be available
