So I’ve been reading the internet (bad idea) and does anyone really think it’s possible Dallas would offer Stankoven for DeBrincat? I mean, I’m more for quantity over quality here but Stankoven is the real deal.

On a side note, if Dallas is the other big suitor like Bruce has said, they have been one of the best drafting teams the last five years. Whatever prospects we could nab from them are likely to become NHL’ers.
They would not. Top prospects on an ELC are incredibly valuable in this league. They'd absolutely try to throw picks/B prospects at Dorion, which he tends to bite on.

Is he though? From what I have read he’s pretty slow now.
That could be, but he had his best offensive season of his career last year and was +16 on a shit team, so he must be able to keep up.

If I had to choose for a game tomorrow that matters, or take one as a deadline rental I'd take Toffoli over Cat. In that bubble which is all I meant initially.

Obviously Cat is the one you want if youre looking for a key piece that you plan to keep a long time, but based on potentially being a rental, I think Toffoli garners a better return.

He's also a very fresh 31 being an April bday, so I think he's got life in him yet.

I'll take my chances with the young 40 goal scorer personally
Thats fair. I take the non undersized, playoff proven guy personally.

Itll be interesting to see if he's a 40 goal guy away from Kane long term.

It depends on who his center is, I guess. He had to carry an entire 2nd line the entire year, it must have been exhausting.

Pinto had spurts of excellent play and Batherson had stretches too, but no fault to either that they couldn't really keep up all year.

If he's centered by a bona-fide nhl top six C, i think he puts up 40.

Yes, that is definitely something to consider with who his linemates were all year.

Shitty for us his drop in production happened this year, but hopefully he still brings a decent return

It all sucked unfortunately with regards to dbc. Oh well...some team will be pleased I'm sure.

IF Debrincat were to stay, he'd still likely be on the 2nd line. Norris being healthy would really help. But, I suppose the other question the Senators would have is do they want to spend $8 + million on a 2nd line winger? I guess that's why Dorion gets paid the big bucks (hope the sarcasm sensors are working today).

Maybe not with Sanderson about to cost 9 or whatever

We ain’t getting Brown, move onto the next bottom 6 / 3rd line free agent.

I like Hathaway, Domi, Acciari, Bjugstad, Sheary, Donato.

Yes, that's a good point. Sanderson is a 10.2.c. in 2024-25. That means it could a lot of different ways. They could go with something more short term and less expensive IF they feel the need to do so. But, Sanderson will need to get paid at some point. I'd think they'd want to lock him up to a 8-year contract at the lowest cap hit possible in the same way they did with Stutzle, Tkachuk, etc.

If his agent says to Ottawa that he wants to sign long, I think whoever is gm at the time just signs.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say he's our best dman since ek65

Edit: imagine them together...

I agree. I added another sentence making that same point to the end of my post.

DBC list apparently increased

Maybe NYR? I feel like he would be a good fit there
Because for whatever reason, no one wants him. It must be very sobering to him. And I take very little joy in it as a fan of the team who has his rights.

EDIT: Should say it's possible no one wants him, it might be the opposite. Who knows.

Is Erik back home yet?
I fantasize about that walking to work a lot.

DBC to SJ
EK to Ottawa with retention by SJ
DBC to somewhere for futures for SJ

DBC should be a much easier asset for SJ to move.

Then...I think that that's a lot of f-ing expensive D-men on our roster.

I would think that list didn't have much value in the first place. It wasn't much of a "list" and It didn't offer the Senators much in the way of multiple, realistic landing spots. I'd think Dorion would need to talk to numerous teams outside of that list anyhow. I sure hope so anyways.

Preds rebuild (or retool) it would appear.
That we know.. but this is giving him away at 1/2 price literally.

Some hopefuls speculating this clears the path to acquire DeBrincat. The really hopefuls are saying for Saros.

But the return is just .. get him out of here.... Not even a 7th round pick .. weird.

Yes, I agree, it's a surprisingly low return. If the reporting is complete as to the assets involved, I guess there wasn't much of a market for Johansen.

With the situation of players wanting out in Calgary and Winnipeg, the thin market for forwards isn't so thin anymore.
