For a perennial 30 goal scorer, Kessel is pretty streaky, though I suppose Gaborik is too.

no reason at all to make a big move that would cost someone like Miller who will be just the kind of thing we need going forward, cheap young center. Kessel is really not needed at all.

We are averaging almost 3 goals a game now (2.75). that should be good enough to win on almost every night with a guy like Hank in net.

Kessel not needed? Sure.

Kessel would tremendously improve the forward corps? Absolutely.

so because he would improve the forward corps (which is doing just fine right now), he is "needed"? Don't we need a big time center with the way Richards is playing instead of a position where we are pretty stacked? (Nash, Gabs, Callahan).. Also, how do you expect to fit Kessel under the cap with everyone else we have already?

Didn't we try this once before...try to acquire all the all stars we could to only have it blow up in our face....Kessel can score but does nothing else...Bruins got rid of him for a reason and the Leafs have been bad since he has been there.

:):):)

So Boyle and a 3rd for McGinn and Bordeleau?

Av's are really thin on Defense...they just lost Eric Johnson for an extended time...Eminger is a capable defensemen...the Bourque name carries a lot of weight in Colorado...Boyle and McGinn are similar players but I think McGinn has more to him...

The Leafs were bad WELL BEFORE Kessel got there, are we forgetting that this is the only team in the NHL that hasn't made the playoffs post-2005 lockout?

I never suggested I would do it, but I expect they would ask for either Staal, Stepan, or Del Zotto. Possibly more. The way our team is constructed, we can't afford to lose Del Zotto. The other two are more reasonable.

The way our team is playing we can't afford to lose any of them. Let them ask for whatever they like, Howson certainly did. It's moot anyway, Sather is never going to give O'Rielley the contract he wants.

How about Boyle, Emminger, Bourque and a 3rd for Jamie McGinn and Patrick Bordeleau

id do that deal McGinn would add more speed and skill.. Bordealeau basically the new Prust lol... id love to get the other McGinn from the Canes and the tough guy from the Flyers... McGinn has played for well for the Flyers..

I really like Kessel as a player. Fast, sniper...Got a lot of offensive upside. Like that as a 30plus goal scorer he is at somewhat of a manageable cap hit. Love that he's American too.

But with all that said, Can he walk the line in NY? Heard the guy was a puddle when he was in Boston. There's a lot of places to hide in NY. There isn't a Hardnosed Captain here that would keep him in line and out of the nightlife. That's evidenced by guys like Boyle constantly partying tossing his shirt off in clubs all over manhattan.

TGfireandice: Devils give Jets 4th rd pick in 2014 and 7th rd pick in 2013.

Devils get a player with size, puck protection and skill for scraps.

Wait, what? I didn't hear anything about that.

I'm not really interested in Kessel, any line he would be on would turn soft automatically. I wouldn't even give up Miller and a 1st for him. Gaborik is much more valuable than him as it is. We have a PWF, a sniper, and a supposed "playmaker" in Brad the Beaver who is MIA for now. Why add someone as soft as Kessel? If anything, i'd look into Chris Stewart, Ryan Clowe, someone of that mold who can replace what Rupp brought but actually handle himself in a fight and be a versatile secondary scorer on an already talent stacked team.
