Sens lost Karlsson and Spezza, safe to say they'll tank rest of season?

This opens up trading chips for Gonchar and Alfie. Both of whom the Rangers should show interest in.

Alfie is going nowhere, Gonchar would be a nice bottom pair partner for Stralman, and he might help the PP, key word "might"

Gonchar would be very expensive for any team who is interested after tonight's injury to Erik. Either way, I think we need a tough DFD, not another PMD.

Gonchar or Streit. The Rangers need a legitimate threat from the point who can not only shoot the puck but also get it through to the net. The Rangers are pretty easy to defend against on the PP because teams can favor Nash and Gaborik on the side boards. They also need to learn how to enter a zone.

We need a big time D man who will knock people out of in front of the damn net so they don't score on all kinds of rebounds, and someone to protect Hank.

We need a little more grit. We got bullied by the Bruins last night... bullied.

Ideally, our mid-season addition would be McIlrath, but i don't think he'll be ready for another full season at least. Need a responsible player that Torts is willing to give a lot of minutes to that will also have a physical presence.

We don't need an Oreilly or a Kessel.

As far as the Ryan O'Reilly rumor, the only player that would make sense to trade on our squad is Derek Stepan. I think getting Reilly would mean the organization has decided that Derek isn't going to cut it anymore.

I think the Rangers need a PP triggerman more than the "stay at home" Dman imo.

They don't need a triggerman, they need more SOG and to better set up on the power play.

I mean, against Boston, I forgot who it was that entered the offensive zone, but there literally was no one on the other side, no one in front of the net.

A triggerman isn't going to resolve anything with those kind of brain farts.

Triggerman won't help their primary problem atm which is their transition with the man advantage. But a Triggerman would absolutely help with the SOG.

A booming shot from the point is going to force pker's to not take to many chances on the wall. It will open the wings on the side boards much more.

Very interesting idea. I personally would move Stepan for O'Reilly. But very skeptical.

Its complicated, however, O'Reilly could end up being much more expensive to resign than Stepan. If O'Reilly wants 5 million a year, there will be no way the Rangers can sign him.

Maybe Ryan just wants out of Colorado, but I doubt it.

We now have the talent. Even if we don't have a legitimate player with a booming shot from the point, there is absolutely no reason for this team to only manage two shots a PP and to be 29th on the PP.

They pass themselves to oblivion, we have Callahan screening the goalie most times, they are oblivious to a one timer, and they are too unselfish.

More tic-tac-toe passes (2-3), stop trying to corral the pass, don't be hesitant on smacking the puck, and if someone misses the goal and you get the puck back, don't bother setting up: send it back and have the other player crack at it.

That's another problem: we allow the other team to set-up instead having them get winded, like us on the PK.

I could see him wanting out of Colorado. What was once one of the strongest franchises in the NHL is one of the weakest right now. Just made Landeskog captain, with Hejduk still on the team. Aren't really a playoff team. He could use this as leverage to just leave without saying it.

If Alfie wants to join a contender and ask for trade for maybe a last chance to win the cup I'm sure Ottawa wouldn't stop him, ask for a ridiculous return or anything like that.

NOT ADVOCATING THIS TRADE AT ALL
Just looking at Cap implications if he ROR were traded (next season especially - as this year is no problem) for Stepan plus and he were to sign a bridge contract here for around $3,3 M. I also resign Sauer to his QF on a one year deal here and hope he can come back. Both scenarios not very likely to happen - but the roster sure looks sexy...

If O'Reilly won't sign a bridge contract in Colorado, I don't see him signing one here.

I know, that´s why it is not going to happen. And taking on a $5M longer term caphit for him now is outta the question IMO. We keep Stepan...

Speaking of a cap hit, I think Boyle is going to get moved if he is playing a 4th line center/black ace. That's horrible "bang for your buck" at a 1.7million price tag.

Not seeing a reason to make a lateral move at best by giving up Stepan for O'Reilly, and then having to to pay twice as much in salary.

Colorado wants a roster player and a top prospect

There were other factors in the marriage going bad. Many who know O'Reilly believe he was hurt when the Avs didn't offer him the captaincy last summer, that he thought he was going to get it. Did the Avs withhold the "C" when the contract talks didn't go the way they wanted with O'Reilly? Some believe this issue contributed to things deteriorating.

Read more: Avs withholding captaincy from Ryan O'Reilly is one of divisive issues - The Denver Post http://www.denverpost.com/lunchspec...taincy-from-ryan-oreilly-is-one#ixzz2KsQ3f32Y

The Avs don't really need another center in exchange for O'Reilly. They already have Stastny and Duchene. O'Reilly is the perfect compliment to those guys who are the offensive players with O'Reilly being the two way guy. Stepan isn't that type of player. The Avs need help on D. Ryan McDonagh. By all accounts,Colorado is asking for a ton. They are treating O'Reilly like an All Star player but they don't want to pay him All Star player money.

McDonagh and Kreider. McDonagh and Miller.

I could see them asking for Kreider for O'Reilly. Landeskog + Kreider on the wings would be tough to contain. Depending on what O'Reilly is asking for in a contract I would pull the trigger.

Richards
O'Reilly
Stepan
Boyle/Halpern
