Rumor: Trade Rumour Thread I: Post-Lockout Madness

I'd trade anyone on NYR for Evander Kane outside of Hank, MCDONAGH and Nash

Kane id love to have, but do you think he would work with Torts. he is young but he seems to not have his head on straight at times..

How about a nice cheap contract for Dallas and they trade Jamie Benn to NYR and we lock him up for Kreider

I'd wait to get a better judgement of this team before dealing for anything at all. Lots of new guys here, especially in the bottom six. I think our biggest problem is no one is gelling just yet. I think shaking up the roster would be rather detrimental.

Agree with this. Also, do we really have the parts for a trade right now? there's not many (if any) prospects ready to be called up and fill spots if we trade away a roster player, and there's not too many prospects that I can see bringing back significant peices

Staal for Subban would balance out our top 4 better, just throwing around ideas

McD - Subban
DZ - Girardi

Sure, it gives you 2 defenseman within the top 4 that can't consistently defend instead of just 1.

That is horrendous horse dung. Subban is already capable of being a top defender and PKer and he is undoubtedly nowhere near his peak. He's much better defensively than most people give him credit for.

I posted this in the Trade board, but I think someone we should take a look at is Cory Sarich from Calgary.

6'4", 207lbs veteran, stay at home, right handed hard hitting defenseman with a contract of $2m per for this year and next. I think he'd look really good next to MDZ; more or less being a replacement for Sauer, or you could pair him with Staal and have a beastly shut down line on the 2nd pair and have MDZ paired with Stralman for sheltered offensive zone starts.

1: McD - Girardi
2A: Staal - Stralman
2B: MDZ - Sarich

or

1: McD - Girardi
2: Staal - Sarich
3: MDZ - Stralman

I like the idea of McBain. I think they should definitely explore him. I like the idea before the season, I like it now. Him moving down the depth chart to start the season might lower his cost. And if he has regressed, a move to NY where two Wisconsin boys preside might give him a boost.

I like the idea of Sarich and McBain, though I think Sarich is the better option for right now.

Thing is that the Flames are still in "compete now" vs. "rebuild" mode, and until they get there I don't think they're interested in moving him for anything but over-payment.

LOL are you talking about the Flames or Canes? The Flames are in win now mode? LOL when was that declared. And it's 2013 not 2008, we wouldn't be overpaying for Cory Sarich....c'mon now.

Well, the Flames management does seem to think they're still trying to compete rather than rebuild. They're going to maintain that mentality until Iggy asks for a trade or calls it quits, IMO. Sarich, however, won't cost much regardless, especially if we look into at the deadline and CGY is outside looking in.

I had a weird freakin dream about the NHL deadline the Rangers made two trades. I have zero skills in matching up players/teams in trades but It felt so real like a Nostradamus moment so I'm writing it down here.

To Calgary - Carl Hagelin, Brian Boyle & 2nd round pick
To NYR - Jarome Iginla

To Florida - Stu Bickel, Christian Thomas & Marek Hrivik
To NYR - Ed Jovanovski, Shawn Matthias & George Parros

No idea if this makes us worse or better but in my dream Iginla played a major part with Jovanovski in the playoffs.

They're not yet blowing anything up is what I mean... they're still trying to compete with their roster and add to it. That much was pretty clear during this off-season. Not saying it won't change quickly if they don't do well.

I really don't know much about them beyond that, so perhaps I'm off base about Sarich. I thought he was a decent part of their blue line, one they wouldn't want to move right now unless it was really worthwhile to do so.

Edit: LOLOLOLOL.

LOL

We need a better 3rd pairing. We should look for a defensive d-man, I'm sure we could find one cheap; a draft pick or a lower tier prospect.

I'm not in love with our 4th line.. If we want to contend we should acquire a more useful players. I like Halpern, Asham but if he was 8 years younger. Rupp I'm not a big fan of but I won't really complain.

Looks to be a very balanced lineup with tons of depth.

Trade for Sarich and then sign either Daymond Langkow or, if he's up to playing, Dominic Moore (RIP Katie).

Sarich
6th 2013

Hagelin - Richards - Nash
Kreider - Stepan - Gaborik
Pyatt - Langkow/Moore - Callahan
Rupp/Asham - Halpern - Boyle

  • Mike Rupp + one of Eminger/Bickel + NYR 3rd rounder (2013) to SJS for Douglas Murray + Nick Petrecki + 5th round pick (2013) IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS TIME
  • Eventually we trade for B McGrattan from Nashville for a NYR 6th rounder in 2013 - if deemed necessary cuz we must add a heavyweight to "Sathers annual goon collection" - then M Gilroy is sent to the AHL (if we were to acquire the goon) DONE SOMETIME AFTER THE MURRAY TRADE BUT BEFORE DEADLINE
  • Christian Thomas/Andrew Yogan + 2nd rounder 2014 + ?? to Dallas for Brendan Morrow AT THE DEADLINE (assuming Dallas is out of race)
  • Mats Zuccarello signs a short term contract as a PP specialist before April 5th DEADLINE

Morrow - Richards - Nash
Kreider - Stepan - Gaborik
Hagelin - Boyle - Callahan
Pyatt - Halpern - Asham
Zuccarello, McGrattan?

McD - Girardi

Looks good & deep, tough yet skilled...
I dunno???

It seems that the Flames believe they are win now mode as per their involvement in the past off-season.
