Rumor: Trade Rumour Thread I: Post-Lockout Madness

I would absolutely take a flyer on either Connolly, Taoromina, or Joslin

I'm not sure about Connolly, can we even fit him under the cap with his 4,75 million cap hit? I'd take him in a trade where Toronto retains 50% of his salary/cap hit probably.

But there are other interesting players on waivers. Nick Palmieri, Adam Pardy, Brian Strait, Mike Santorelli...

Winnik was a UFA before he signed with Anaheim. I wanted him instead of Asham.

I forgot he was with San Jose and not Anaheim last year, but I really meant at no point during the lockout end/tryout period, or that he had been signed for quite a while now. Winnik would never be unsigned at this point with the way he's played his role the last few years for Colorado and SJ.

If Connolly is bought out, isn't he a UFA?

I hate Tim Connolly with a firey passion.

I still think we should grab Kevin Porter from Buffalo. He can sit in the press box until we have injuries and jump in and be a quality guy. Roughly 25 points, 140 hits, 30 blocks in 75 games a couple years ago for Colorado. Only played 35 games last season but was basically on the same pace. He's a good depth guy 13th forward type.

Yeah, I think he was criminally underpaid as is.

Yeah, definitely a "no" from me regarding Connolly. Just would not fit in with this team, there's no room for him in the lineup.

TSN isn't helping things:

I imagine the Leafs are going to see if anytone takes the entire salary which they wont then they wont buy him out its dumb since they get the cap hit anyways

So the eat half the salary and someone takes the guy you would think at a reduced rate for a shortened season. Then he's a UFA

BTW Timmy Erixon sent to minors by CLB. Rough , figured he would make their lineup for sure but they do have alot of vets on D

They also have Ryan Murray, David Savard, John Moore, Cody Goloubef and maybe one or two other good young d-men competing for spots. Savard is a lock and if Murray is recovered from his shoulder injury, I assume he is as well. Factor Johnson, Wisniewski, Tyutin, Nikitin, Aucoin and there's really no room at all.

He's an offensive centerman who has declined rapidly that would not be playing an offensive role. What's the point?
Well he's a strong defensive player as well. He didn't play top 6 minutes with Toronto, but still put up .51 Pts/Gm. He'd be another PKer after losing Dubinsky, Prust and Anisimov. He's a faceoff man for the 2nd unit PP. He would provide much needed depth at center (especially on the scoring lines if Step or Richards got hurt.

I guess he'd be okay as a thirteenth forward/4th line center. But I've never been a fan of Connolly.

It wouldn't be Ryan Murray as he had shoulder surgery and is out for the year.

I mentioned that in the post you quoted and stated I wasn't sure if he'd be back or not. Point is, with Savard in the lineup they already have 6 regulars and Savard earned his spot last year. Erixon gets nothing out of sitting in the press box as the 7th so they sent him back. Not a commentary on his development.
