Rumor: Trade Rumour Thread I: Post-Lockout Madness

Penguins are going to have to make some choices on defense as to who to put on waivers. They have quite a few guys I would be very willing to have as a #6. Lovejoy strikes my eye.

That's quite intresting. How's the waiver order today?

Saw a few posts floating around that D'Agostini might be the odd-man out in St. Louis. I think they'll keep him around in case one of their rookies takes a step backwards, but if he's available I'd consider adding him. He's a spark-plug who's solid defensively and would be a capable 3rd liner.

Doubt Buffalo buys him out, pretty thin at FWD already. Might as well pay him for playing on your team, as compared to someone else's. Also could dangle him as trade bait at the deadline to a fringe team that could buy him out, I'm sure you could fetch at least a pick...it's something.

The player has to be on that team when the CBA was ratified. If Leino is traded, he can't be bought out by another team.

I totally agree. He would fit in well with the identity of the team. He has some offense in him as well and he is a big kid.

As expected. WPG claims Anthony Peluso from STL.

Seems like only one pickup today off waivers

Some waiver movement today:

CAR: Brett Bellemore, Nicolas Blanchard, M-A Gragnani, Justin Krueger, Jerome Samson, Chris Terry, Justin Peters, Andreas Nodl, Brett Sutter.
MTL: Scott Gomez :shakehead
NYR: Wade Redden :amazed:
PHI: Brian Boucher, Andreas Lilja,
SJS: Danny Groulx
TOR: Greg Scott, Ryan Hamilton, Mike Mottau, Keith Aucoin

Would anyone be opposed to the Rangers snagging Gragnani? Very talented offensive defenseman. I would be okay with developing him a little bit. He is better defensively than MA Bergeron but not quite as good offensively.

I always had the feeling that Gomez was house cleaning priority numero uno in both Tortarella's and Sather's minds. As far as Sather was concerned I suspect it was embarrassment on making such an albatross deal. For Tort's, Gomez was not a Tort's kinda player. Just my suspicions and nothing more. In any event if he winds up back in a Rangers sweater you could knock me over with a feather.

Wouldn't be opposed to it but he's bounced around quite a bit already so I wonder why he can't stick in any system. Still wouldn't mind it.

As for D'Agostini, he would be the ideal addition to our third line.

Do you guys think the Rangers are looking to add another bottom pairing D-man and some bottom 6 depth? We're a little top heavy now (which is better than bottom heavy). Or do you think they're set? I mean Torts couldn't possibly be happy at what took place with Bickel last year, playing him 3 minutes a game and whatnot.

If he was that unhappy with Bickel he wouldn't be around. Torts said over and over that Bickel was young and needed to be protected a little. I honestly think he was above average, the boards always need one D-man to rag on.

I'm all for taking some time with him and seeing how he comes along before the deadline.

He was impressive in Buffalo when I watched him. Would definitely like to bring him to NY

for some reason i think Pens or Sens pick him up.. just a hunch. i wouldnt mind the Rangers claiming him. still young, maybe in a defensive system he could benefit...

Pens have enough cuts to make on D as it is. They have like 3 or 4 bottom pairing guys who all have to clear waivers. Depres might end up back in WBS simply because he's not eligible for waivers yet.

Honestly, I think once we see the final round of cuts and some better players hit the wire, that's where we'll see the Rangers add another d-man. There's a lot of teams looking for depth on D, and a handful of other teams (Sabres, Pens) who have excess players that could get claimed.

I doubt the Rangers really pick up another dman. Although I think there'll be upgrades over Bickel or Gilroy available.

Sather must read the boards here lol nice tradevtodayborva legit fighter who can also play h game

Murray is a lefty but I would still take him in a heartbeat for our bottom pair. He's perfect (except for his handedness). I would do a third plus Asham (if they would want him) or a third + a middle prospect. I'd pay a decent price actually as long as it didn't effect the standing roster too much. Decent relative to his rental status, that is. Although, not that I'd really think about bringing him back, but if he'd re-sign really cheap, he would make a great mentor for McIlrath, though I have no idea where he would fit (pretty much wouldn't).

If I remember, over a year ago somebody, Hockeyball I think said he was tough as nails, strong as a bull, but foot slow....

yea they are going into the yr with Bickel, Eminger, Gilroy battling for the 6th spot. That's fine but come playoff time they will be looking for a rental vet D that could even play 2nd pairing RD....bumping Stralman to 3rd pair is not a bad thing although I think Staal makes him look awesome this yr

Expecting 1 change on bottom 6 and a rental in D along with the winner of the current 6 7 8
