Marty Brodeur has scored more goals than Ryan Clowe. He is also injured. Shoulder injury. What does Clowe bring if he is injured? Pierre LeBrun said on an ESPN podcast yesterday about Clowe and Murray will be moved by the deadline. He didn't say anything about Boyle who has another year at $6,666,667 left.

Torts is a joke. Last night,Torts mentioned the need to someone to run the PP. You know who he is talking about. His buddy Brad Richards was supposed to be that guy. Richards is a ghost. The Rangers gave Richards $20M in one calendar year. Its going to cost the Garden $24M or $18M to amnesty Richards. Stop playing GM Torts. Richards and Boyle have the same cap hits.

The Kings were scouting the Rangers game last night. DET,PHX,SJ were some of the other teams.

Andy Strickland wrote about Weiss yesterday

$5M for Weiss who is a 2nd line center on a good team.

Been pushing for Weiss for a while now.....get him on the cheap. Three solid centers down the middle next year, solves a lot of problems. makes a Richards buyout at the end of next year more feasible. His rights for nothing but picks. $5mm isn't absurd

He's so injury prone. Sure solid, but how much cap is that going to be.

Rather have Ribiero

I'm 100% for Weiss. This is great opportunity to capitalize on this summer.

$5.5M cap hit at most IMO. Which is his actual value if you ask me. Usually when valued players hit the FA market they get overpaid. With Weiss coming off season ending injury that will reduce what he will make down to about what he's actually worth.

Sources say #stlblues have traded Matt Dagostini to the #Devils

He's a player I would've liked for us. Will wait to complain until I see the cost

I agree with Ribiero.

I want someone that is confident and brash with the puck.

A player that can put up points and be a plick to play against

Much better bang for the buck at 5+ million.

Except he is injury prone. He just plays scared now, so he doesn't get hurt. He's afraid to finish checks or to put his body on the line to make a play. He plays a timid game, in an effort to not get hurt.

I can't count how many times I've seen Gaborik reach with his stick instead of move his body towards the puck.

lol.

When has he ever finished checks or put his body on the line? Never. He's always played this way.

And generally when people refer to Gaborik being injury prone, they're referring to his groin. IIRC, he hasn't had a significant groin problem since he's been in NY. Every player gets banged up. Can't criticize him for something that happens to literally every player in the league.

Mike Ribeiro?

You guys ***** about Richards and Gabby being soft? Haha, I rue the day Ribeiro ever wears Blue. He is a whiner and diver of the highest order.

And him in the playoffs? I'll laugh even harder. Dumb suggestion.

I'd rather have Ribiero at 5 mil than weiss at 5 mil.

ribiero is an agitator. he's effective. i hate him as a player but he'd be good here. he can actually play and brings an edge we're missing this season.

we pay certain guys to be tough. richards and gabby should never and will never be tough. i don't want them to be. they are our skill guys. unfortunate as it may be, we can't afford to keep richards with the risk of that contract and his deteriorating play. we don't have many options as a stop-gap at center.

weiss, ribiero, who else, unless we're going to give up MORE assets in a trade, which, imo, would be a mistake.

Buyout Richards this season. Sign Ribiero. Add some grit (Ott, keep Haley, etc)

Nash-Ribiero-Gaborik
Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan
Kreider-Miller-UFA (Horton/Dupuis/Clarkson/Ryder)
Haley-Boyle-Ott

last time he was in the PO's.

17 points in 18 games.

not bad

I have a strange feeling that if Gaborik is traded, it'll be to somewhere no on expects.

Riberio is rumored to be available.

I think he would make a ton of sense. The only thing that worries me about him is cost. A "Calgary" is always bound to offer him 6m per if he hits the market, so odds are that we would get him as a rental. And given that he has been great for Was, why would they move him for like a depth guy (Powe/Pyatt/Halpern/Boyle), a prospect like Thomas and a 2nd/3rd round pick? And why would we give up more (say Skjei, Fasth and Thomas or whatever) for just a few months?

Anyway, IF we could get him, he would help our PP a ton (just like he and Bäckström works great togehter on the PP in Was, Brad Richards and Riberio worked great togehter on the PP in Dallas. BR needs a left handed playmaker like that, he had LeCav in Tampa. And 5 on 5 he would also help.

BTW, I am not quite sure I get the new threads. Is this a thread where you post rumors and discuss rumors. Like if there is a legit rumor, is this the thread you discuss the rumor? Or just post the rumor and then comment on it in another thread?

Guys, this thread is for rumors. If you want to discuss a rumor you must have a link. No where has this offer been seen anywhere. Please bring it to the speculation thread

Hehe, but there are so many destinctions. There are legit rumors that we are looking for a offensive minded right handed D.

I wouldn't mind seeing three threads: (a) Rumors with links. No other posts. (b) Discussion of rumors. (c) "Proposals".

;)

“It’s harder to find that fit,” said Ken Holland of the Detroit Red Wings. “So many teams are near the cap so you have to trade similar money for similar money. Then you’re talking about length of contract. Then you’re talking about fitting their need to my need. There are a lot of moving parts.”

“There are different barriers now that probably weren’t there before,” said Dave Nonis of the Toronto Maple Leafs. “You look at the cap coming down next year (from a pro-rated $70 million this season to $64 million) and not a lot of teams want to add salary.”

“Are there deals there? Yes,” said San Jose’s Doug Wilson. “ Do I think you have to work harder and be more diligent? Yes. The reality is the compressed schedule has made it more difficult to make trades.”
