Guys, please read the op, this thread is for rumors and discussions of those rumors from legit sources. Please keep this thread on that topic. No more pie in the sky "hey I want this guy lets get him, what would it take"

Smid is steady, but Whitney's brutality on defense is made up for the fact that he's a bonafide PP specialist.

Maybe even Fistric for a 5th or 6th who's better than Bickel but somehow 50x slower

Scott Hannan is hurt but he fits the team's MO better than Eminger and Bickel.

As far as forwards for depth:

--Blake Comeau, Chuck Kobasew and Eroc Fehr are all cheap UFAs who can offer PK help.

With Staal coming back before the playoffs, and a relatively easier schedule to finish the season, I dont see any reason for a major trade.

The lineup the Rangers will present tonight against the Panthers (Staal notwithstanding) is the lineup I'd like to see them open the playoffs with.

im sure it would take more than a 3rd for Smid. and I REPEAT I DONT WANT WHITNEY EVEN IF HE WAS ON WAIVERS.. HE IS TOM POTI 2.0. i wouldnt mind Fehr (was hoping they would sign him as a depth player) and i always liked Kobasew (gritty energy 3rd liner) what would it take for Clutterbuck? any chance the Wild moves him??? he would add more grit to this team..... Fristic got hurt last night in the Oilers game but if he becomes healthy i doubt Oilers trade him....i wanted Hannan a few years ago when he was on the Avs. maybe they trade for Ryan Wilson from the Avs, big hitting dman.. underrated dman...

yea i still dont understand claiming Hamrlik.. he has history with Sather... big deal :help: he isnt much of a help although better than Bickel and Gilroy

Let me ask this then, if this thread is specifically for rumors and rumblings that are real and reasonable, should another thread be created strictly for trade proposals and the possibility of trading for people that sources have not stated are being shopped, or are available?

It would make sense to me since you guys are trying to keep redundant threads from cropping up that this would be the all purpose trade talk thread rather than just for rumors. Unless trade proposals are now to be kept strictly to the trade forum and not allowed to be discussed here.

Other thread is up guys. Speculation in the other thread, real legit rumors in this thread only. Especially with the TD coming up, they need to be separated.

Pierre LeBrun said on an ESPN podcast yesterday about Clowe and Murray will be moved by the deadline. He didn't say anything about Boyle who has another year at $6,666,667 left.

Torts is a joke. Last night,Torts mentioned the need to someone to run the PP. You know who he is talking about. His buddy Brad Richards was supposed to be that guy. Richards is a ghost. The Rangers gave Richards $20M in one calendar year. Its going to cost the Garden $24M or $18M to amnesty Richards. Stop playing GM Torts. Richards and Boyle have the same cap hits.

The Kings were scouting the Rangers game last night. DET,PHX,SJ were some of the other teams.

So, Rangers scout the Kings all month. Actually since last month. Kings scout the Rangers again. For two teams to keep an eye on each other like they are it has to be something of significance. I cant see a team scout a west coast team nearly every night for the services of a Brian Boyle or a Taylor Pyatt. Doesnt make sense.

I dont think I have heard 1 Rangers beat writer make mention of any Kings players that might be available?
 
Lombardi wanted to sign Gaborik in 2009 but wouldn't give him 5 years. The Rangers have spent too much time scouting the Kings for nothing to be going on. Voynov would be the pefect fit. I like Martinez and Lewis too.

I just don't see that they would give us Voynov for Gabby. Its got to be a bigger package for both teams like:

Mark Howe is pro scout for the Wings. He has been following the Rangers too. Chicago had two scouts at the game last night.
