Trading Callahan for a 1st round pick won't solve anything.

You gotta play with the hand you are dealt.

If one player wins big with a full house, who would advise anyone with 4/5 of a straight to try to get a three of a kind and a pair that hand?

We are doing some good things too. The competition isn't as bad as it might seem at times. It won't be year after year. There is no team that will place the bar extremely high for 7-8 straight years like we saw 4-5 teams do before the lockout. The league have changed.

We just must acknowledge that we haven't been doing alot of good things in NY the last 4 years. We went in one direction, the league went in another direction. A good manager of a NHL team should have been on top of that, Slats don't have that capacity. Now I think we are going in the right direction at least, while it remains to be seen if the guy in charge can pull it off.

Its going to take some time to catch up.

Another thing, 30-40m will be available next summer?

So what, we can't do anything with that money anyway. Nobody will be available. 10 teams will have 20m on their hands to spend on "nobodies".

I have a hard time seing many teams making good assets available, because there will be so little flexibility on the market.

There are some bad contracts out there. Maybe we could take on one of them. Thats about it.

We could make a "hockey trade", maybe.

Stall will suffer another injury next season.

You watch a team like Anaheim. They played 1/2 the game last night and they ran over the Islanders. They had a lost season in 11-12 and were bad enough to select Hampus Lindholm. They had an excellent season in 2013. Bad playoff loss to the Wings in seven games. They are having another solid season in 13-14. Anaheim traded Bobby Ryan and none of those assets is in their line-up. Silfverberg is injured. They also have the Sens #1 pick in June which could be a lottery pick. That is a really good team setup for long term success. They have a million goalies and all of them can play. Last weekend they went into Chicago and St.Louis and won back to back road games. They ran over the Blues.

The Rangers?

I just hope Sather doesn't go trigger happy this summer with the cap going up $7 million and the extra $6.5 million from buying out Richards.

Thornton, Marleau, D. Boyle, Gaborik, Heatley, Vanek, Phanuef, Stastny.

Most of the names that need to be avoided either lost their ability to play at a high level or too old.

Only two id be interested in (depending on cost) would be Phanuef and Stastny.

Adam Proteau ‏@Proteautype 11h

NHL's salary cap ceiling rises to $71 million next season. Ed Snider and Glen Sather are already doing wind sprints and calisthenics.

The infusion of talent is what will maximize this current lineup, system...

They are transitioning , but if they make the right moves:

Trade a player or two, bring up a player or 2, cut some dead weight and sign a few
Top free agents we should be set for a better future

It takes some time to turn the car around to go in a new direction

for the record I think all of you that want to trade Callahan are nuts. He's going to pick it up and be the Cally everyone loves. The guy does everything well and is a perfect Captain. He's not going anywhere

Girardi, fine , I get it. Move him in the right deal but it does weaken the RD big time.

As for moves they are obviously trying to do something from within. Pouliott and Pyatt are crap, Moore is blah. Miller is still too young. I don't expect much from Asham although he may come in and start hitting people and fighting knowing he has to do that to stay in the league

also those that say deal Dorsett don't think. Hes the only one with guts

Hockey's different here!:sarcasm:

The new transformed Madison Square Garden and the Chase bridges.

That's all they care about.

Even on this board people were excited to see the bridges. What are you going to see? The team stinks.

This is the 13th season with Sather in charge. 14 years if you include the 2004-05 lockout. 14 years.

You're out to lunch as usual. Its the truth. Re-sign everyone. Have the same team every season. Same results.

Flip John Moore for a decent grinder. Moore-Pouliot for Talbot-3rd rounder?

Anaheim is a trillion times better than the Rangers. Bad comparison. They actually have a #1 center.

let me get this straight, you gave up on Dubinsky and let Prust walk. Now you are considering trading Cally. And there's talk that the Rangers lack grit...

Unless you are blowing the whole thing up you can't trade Cally, you'll never get his equal in NHL-proven players, you can only gamble with prospects. And Dolan teams don't blow the whole thing up.

Kreider-Stastny-Nash
Marleau-Stepan-Heatley
Hagelin-Miller-Callahan

How hard can it be?

Serious?

I think the Rangers need to make a move like the Blues/Avs trade back in 2011.

E. Johnson, McLement, 1st for Shattenkirk, C. Stewart and a 2nd.

Not trading away youth for expensive near the end of their prime vets. Shaking it up by dealing young players for young players that still have room to grow skill wise.

Hopefully there are deals out there for NHL ready/proven youngish players cause this team will be doomed to mediocrity if we don't recycle some talent. Not saying we have a Loui Eriksson on this team that's avail and granted that was the off season, but you see what youngish proven veterans can return in a deal. Girardi and Cally have to go before the deadline. This team is too starved for offensive talent not to take advtantage. Hopefully there are some buyers.

Getting rid of Callahan would be the second dumbest thing this team could do, behind getting rid of Hank. He's our captain and the heart and soul of this team. Trading him would be the kiss of death for the team this season.

I'm seriously glad you guys aren't running the team.

How hard can it be?

Pretty hard especially when trade 1 involves a newly inked player with a full NMC.

The other 3 aren't realistic either.

I know for a fact that Foligno isn't going to get moved any time soon.

The kiss of death for this team is this team. I'd prefer Bernmeister over Sather at this point just to see something new.
