Jury's still out on John Moore, but that's another discussion.
Boyle is what he is, a good 4th liner that steps it up in big games.
Pyatt and Pouliot hustle, but they're garbage.

Sad to say but it's true, the quickest way to appear to solve a problem is through FA regardless of the cost down the line. Instant gratification.
By the way, 3 or 4 game winning streak and the rangers are back to being world beaters again.

That this team can make a deep run in the playoffs.
We need to add a 2C, and a vet RHD. That's it.
Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Richards - 2C - Zuccarello
Hagelin - Brassard - Callahan
Boyle - Moore - Dorsett
McDonagh - G
Staal - Stralman
Moore - Vet RHD
Who do we give up?
Draft picks. Middling/good prospects. Michael Del Zotto. Taylor Pyatt and or Benoit Pouliot.
Adding those two pieces makes our lineup completely different. It's not dead weight anymore, but it's true depth. Cally at 3RW, Boyle on the 4th line where he belongs. JT Miller not playing top-9 minutes he can't handle. Hagelin on the third line (could swap him with Richie, also).
Buy-out Richie. Let one of G or Callahan walk after next season. Trade their FA rights at the draft for an extra pick or a prospect.

at this point i think we need someone in the east to make a move to kick off some trades, alot of teams out there struggling that could use a change someone has to make the first move
about the only good thing about staal being out is del zotto gets himself some time in the top 4 on the RIGHT side, if he can string some good games together, get his value up we can move him after the holiday trade freeze.

lets face it smart thing would be to move one of them for max return, but...
slats isnt going to move girardi or callahan or staal..
they are his babys that kicked off the youth momement.. hate to say it but if they leave it will bc they are looking to cash in $$$$ by their own doing..
only center worth going for is Ott and Stasny..
Ott i dont think we need him, toughness is nice but we need a 2c.. i want to see brass more and give him a shot.. dudes played less then 15m the past 5 games.. he should be getting 2c to see if we can get him going and move brad to the wing..
if not stasny would be ideal.. COL has been screaming for dman and would make us a good trade partner.. MDZ, prospect, 2nd should get it done.. one of (pyatt, poo poo, asham, powe included as well) for stasny, Mcginn or mcloud.. would want to try and get barrie but big stretch to include that in this package without give something better up..

So most of the team is playing worse than him, and he is loosing his C?
He's tied for 2nd in goals, and is 5th in points among forwards, and missed a lot of games this season, plus had offensive time cutdown due to injuries.
If anything he is fighting through this with a likely lingering injury that is a true leader.
Look, I know we are all fustrated but Cally deserves some kinda slack from the injuries, and plus there is more than a half of dozen issues before even looking at Callahan.

Marc Staal traded again...shocking. And for Ryan Murphy...laughable. Oh and their 1st round pick. Staal sustained another injury near the end the other night and they are going to hand us their best prospect? And if Staal is ok they can't afford to lose him if they deal one of or both MDZ and Girardi.
Why are we trading Brassard? He will get a qualifying offer. He won't cost as much for the short term so we can have center depth until Lindberg/Miller are fully developed.
Trade Girardi.
Consider trading Callahan.
Move Pyatt and/or Pouliot if you can.

if girardi walks, haha forsure slats will try and make a go for Phaneuf thats a guarantee and here is redden 2.0.. at least maybe he'll concuss our opponents.. but yeah its kinda exciting because our team could be so different next year, but hopefully improved.. time will tell..
if i had to move anyone it would staal, callahan, girardi in that order, but all three are here for long haul my honest opinion
This team will not have a legit #1 center. You need to draft (very) high to get a player like that. Only way the Rangers get a player like that is through free agency or to give up serious assets in a trade. Thornton or Grabovski are really the only 2 options for a 1C via UFA. While Grabovski is debatable, if he keeps up his current pace there's not a doubt in my mind he would be a good 1C here with Nash and Kreider
If we could get someone similar to Stepans production, I think that fills the void

options as in strip the team down and bask in the cap space we get for it, how has that worked out for us in the past?
amazing how quickly people flip flop what they want this team to do, when the vets don't produce everyone wants to trade them away and grow with youth, when the youth doesn't produce everyone wants to solve our problems via free agency, which would inevitably start the cycle back at vets aging and not producing.
Statsny will get over paid somewhere else, trade Brassard and DZ as a package for that 1B center. Look to acquire d-men someway. The d-men currently in our system that should be on the team are McD, Moore, Stralman, and McI. Use cally and Girardi as trade bait
