We need a winning clubhouse mentality. Does Kane provide that? I highly doubt it. Let's not even get into the claims that he's a locker room cancer and thinks he's above the team. Let's assume that those are overblown or fake.

He's never shown a desire to take his team to the next level. He's fine with losing. Fine with sitting out the playoffs.

That's who you want?

I'm tired of getting talent that doesnt care. Talent that doesn't lead. Talent that can't mentor.

All our guys do is talk the talk. Let's add another guy who will contribute to that personality.

You know this how? I'm not advocating trading for Kane as from what I've read the asking price is too high. But a 22 year old 5 years in the league who averages a point every 2 games would help this team (depending who we traded away).

Not sure if you're being serious.

25-year-old superstar with four seasons at a point-per-game or higher

for

25-year-old 2nd/3rd line speedster
26-year-old enigma and soon-to-be UFA
prospect who will 99.9% likely not peak as high as the player in return
draft pick that will likely slot somewhere in the teens

Kane is exactly what this team needs but can't acquire through UFA or the draft. Hagelin and Brassard are 100% replaceable through UFA and the draft. And Miller/Skjei are not deal-breaking prospects, IMO.

My understanding is that thsi was for EVANDER Kane

So yes, I am being dead serious.

EASY PASS

The team has scored 72 goals in 33 games(2nd Worst)....I'm willing to look at anybody that can consistently put the puck in the net.

If this team dealt guys like Callahan and Girardi for up-and-comers, they could also probably leverage their ability to spend to the cap and absorb a bad contract in exchange for some sweetener in the deal.

Brassard is soon to be RFA, not UFA

Unless the Rangers plan on picking top-3, their first this year should absolutely be available if it means a young NHL ready impact player. In case anyone managed to forget, they just signed Lundqvist to what will basically be a retirement contract. The idea of stockpiling draft picks that *could* pan out in 3-4 years went away when they inked Henrik to that deal. They need to decide what direction they want to go and fast, and then they need to move anyone who is not in those plans. The clock is ticking.

Wrong Kane. ;)

Some don't want to part with our 1st for Kane? Really? You think Sather
And Co. Could draft better? Lol! KenJets calls E.Kane a shiny new toy?
Crazy talk. Loser mentality? The NYR are winners? ??? Lol!

This the move you make, the stuff that should be easy to decide on on.

Sorry I have no faith in Sather drafting and developing a 22y old 25-30g scorer

Rangers should be on the phones now discussing scenarios

Would not move our 1st rounder for most players. We may actually have a shot at a top-5 pick.

So a top 5 pick is now better than "most players?" Dude BB come on, Stove pls.

They need help now, not 2-5 years. If they wanted to stock pile high draft picks they shouldn't have comitted to continuing building around Henrik.

That top 5 pick could end up being a top player on this team starting next season.

Lundqvist signed a 7 year extension. Its not this season or next season or bust.

Look at the top ten from last season and how many players are currently contributing to their team, or will next year. Monahan went 6th overall and is having a wonderful year for the Flames. The only way the Rangers will get a legit first line C is if they draft one. I'm tired of hearing "oh how does that help next season!!!". The team isn't in a position to add a meager piece or two and contend next year.

Yeah it *could* OR it could become 100% an impact player this season via trade. Yeah 7 years in which each year he gets a little older.

If the right offer comes along you make it available.

Do you have faith in management to pick another Monahan? I don't.

Who says the trade has to be for a meagar piece? Why can't be packaged to get something more valuable?

I agree about the first line C.

We are all also assuming Sather lets the pick get that high by standing pat. I sincerely doubt this team picks top 5 anyway.

The Rangers already did the 4 for 1 with Nash. Lets stop with the 4 for 1 deals. Has it really worked out?

Doesn't have to be a 4 for 1, but let's face it, this roster is a mash-up of skillsets and they will have to move square pegs if they decide on round holes.

*Could* be an impact player next season. Should be an impact player in the future.

Go ahead and trade the pick for an impact player("whatever that means") for this season. If you're trading the pick for a player. Sign Callahan and Girardi to 7 year extensions if you're playing for this season and next. Trade every young player and top pick to win this season and next season.

Nash was supposed to be the "impact player".

What makes Kane any different? He has played a losing team his entire career.

Agreed. Other than MDZ, who was the last NYR 1st round draft pick to have an immediate impact?

There aren't many moves to make out there. I don't think Sather will be making any big trades to add to this team. Who can he move? Del Zotto? Not with Staal out. Brassard? He might have negative value. Hagelin? Solid player, but moving him won't return a piece good enough to help this team.

The highest this team has picked since the lockout is 10th overall. IF we get a top-6 pick, yes, I think this team is capable of getting a player like Monahan, a potential #1 center. There's some good centers in this draft that will be available if we stay in this position for the remainder of the season.

Monahan went where he was supposed to go.

BB and rangerboy trash NYR management up and down yet have faith they can draft a top flight
Player ready to join the lineup. ..

It isn't about next year? Ok so were scrapping 2 more yrs off Henriks career...

Lol. Brilliant
