What is he doing? What character has he shown? He said the team can have fun when Torts left, he is having fun alright. AV should bench him for 2 games
Look at our assembled team. Our coach and our personnel are averse to being physical.
Many of Cally's hits came when he was grinding on the boards. Dumping and chasing promotes physicality. It doesn't take much skill to dump the puck and battle it out on the boards. Physicality trumps there.
This is a much more skill driven coach. Cally is on the first line. He's adjusting to the team needing him as a goal scorer, not as an energy guy.
Getting another goal scorer shifts him down to the 3rd line, our checking line, where he should be.

I don't want to lose Callahan because I think he is one the few players that puts up a consistent effort each game.
But, production-wise, his points per game has steadily declined since 2010-11:
2010-11: .80
2011-12: .71
2012-13: .69
2013-14: .55
On that note, can we please put Callahan on a line with some good forecheckers instead of the likes of Richards, Stepan, or Nash? His best offensive season was when he played on the Pack Line with Dubi and Anisimov.

I fail to see what other players on the team have to do with callahan's hitting. Just go out there and hit.
It's a mentality. I'd rather not have to explain it. It's definitely a phenomenon. Especially for a captain. He needs to be shifted down.
Callahan has definitely mellowed out in the past couple of seasons. He used to get chippy after whistles and stir things up, now he looks disinterested. I wonder if the injuries finally caught up to him and he's worried about getting hurt

He needs to be shifted down because the role they are using him in isn't optimizing his skills. He's not a goal scorer. He's a checker. That's where he's most effective.
Being ineffective in a role he's never had to play before doesn't mean he hasn't been good. It just means he hasn't been utilized properly.
Also, being ineffective as a goal scorer doesn't mean anything about his mentality on the ice. He's a leader. He's the only one that consistently cares, game in and game out. You don't get rid of these guys.
Hank sat because:
1) Cam was the hot hand. Sometimes you just have to ride the hot hand when you need to find yourself.
2) This is an Olympic year. He needs to be fresh coming into the playoffs. You can't wear him out.

I didn't say anything about his goal scoring. Although if he wants lots of money, he should start scoring too. He has been very disappointing.
Daneyko talking about the possibility of the Penguins trading for Ryan Miller. That would be my worst nightmare.

Probably just speculation. Doubt they do it, the organization seems tied to Fleury.
Not a clue. I'm thinking its just interesting speculation on Ken's part and nothing more.

Why would the Sabres trade Miller in a deal for MAF? Unless MAF is simply "thrown in" along with the value of prospects/picks they want its not happening
Ive been saying since last year that the Islanders should have traded for Miller and when I heard they made a deal with Buffalo I was SURE it was for Miller. It fit so perfectly. They needed a top goalie, American, and wouldve given them a franchise goalie going into Brooklyn. I even scanned the article real quick and still thought it was Miller only to find out they traded assets for a small upgrade at LW.

The Pens aren't tied to Fleury. He'd lost his starting job to Vokoun, who then had his blood clot situation pop up just before the season started and it gave the Pens no choice but to roll with Fleury. I don't know that they trade for Miller but the Pens want to win now and it wouldn't shock me.
