I expect him to play smarter than he has. It's not even his lack of offensive production at even strength that really bothers me, it's the dumb plays that he makes with the puck, plays that tend to lead to good chances the other way. Like trying to pick the corner of the net from terrible angles and missing, allowing the other team to breakout, turning the puck over in the neutral zone, turning the puck over on soft dump ins, and making those idiotic spin around, no look backhand passes from behind the net that work maybe 1% of the time.
I don't see why the Rangers have to straddle themselves with an overpaid Callahan. This offseason gives the team a chance to potentially move away from a good chunk of the core that has, thus far, led to nothing but mediocrity and disappointment, outside of one outlier of a season.
