so the Rangers send Mashinter down and let Miller just sit... this is a great way to develop a prospect...

Rick Nash, Brad Richards, Ryan Callahan
Chris Kreider, Derek Stepan, Mats Zuccarello
Carl Hagelin, Derick Brassard, Benoit Pouliot
Brian Boyle, Dominic Moore, Derek Dorsett

if AV does not trust Mashinter, why not call up one of Powe or Asham and send Miller back down to the AHL.... :shakehead some of these decisions dont make any sense right now.

I don't believe he likes the way Pouliot is playing and wants to keep someone here in case he wants Pouliot to sit. He must think Miller is capable.

For those talking about the Red Wings as a possibility and saying they don't have many interesting pieces, they actually have several that could be the basis of a deal. If the Rangers could swing a Del Zotto+ for some of DeKeyser, Sproul, Jurco, Tatar, Mantha, I think you'd have to jump on that, and I'm not a fan of the "trade Del Zotto" idea.

The Wings are loaded with hugely offensively talented prospects on both O and D, but don't have as much in the way of useful/talented mid- and bottom-6ers. They also need to cheapen the roster significantly while adding youth. Fast and Lindberg would be of interest to them, I'm sure. The Rangers have too many bottom- and mid-6 prospects, and not enough high-offense prospects. It's actually a much better match than people here seem to think. I've been a proponent of exploring them as a potential trade partner for Girardi, as well.

so why hasn't Pouliot been scratched?? he deserves it as much as Del Zotto if not more.. he has been useless. i would rather have Miller or a young kid like Yogan or Hrivik making those mistakes. :help:

Vigneualt must be hoping he turns it around. He was one of the Rangers better players in TC. Maybe they are showcasing him? Who knows.

Yeah, but he is older too. Nyqvist is 24, what is Miller, 21?

I like Nyqvist. He fits in well with Hagelin and Kreider on the left side. He is a bit of a mix between Hagelin and Miller.

My point is just, we got Miller already. I don't worry about Miller's ability in the near future to take a spot in the NHL. Fast is hurt now, but he is also in the mix. In two years time, I am not at all sold on Nyqvist being better than Miller or Fast.

Nyqvist is a energy player, he don't help our PP. He isn't a set-up man or something. We could do worse for sure, but its not of those players I think really makes sense. Zinbanejad gives us a right handed sniper option on the PP, potentially at least. Rundblad is a RD option for the PP and with Girardi and Strålman closing in on UFA. And so forth.

The upside is of course that we are getting faster with Nyqvist. Maybe that is worth it alone.

That kind of thinking gets teams into trouble. Miller "might" be better than Nyqvist eventually, but this is a team looking to win in the short term. Nyqvist helps us do that now, and makes us better in the future. If Miller grows into a similar player, great. Then we have two of them. I'd rather have Nyqvist with a potential clone developing in the AHL than just the hope that Miller might turn into one.

I have to question your analysis of Nyqvist though. He's hardly an energy player. He's a very gifted, offensive talent. Excellent playmaker and a capable finisher. He'd absolutely be an asset on the powerplay.

i doubt anyone would trade for him unless its for an ECHL type player :help:

What is everyone's opinion on Ryan Sproul in a package coming back for DZ? RHD, puck mover, good size.. haven't seen him play but from what I read he is a nice looking prospect. How untouchable would he be?

Thing is, I don't know who to package with him if we're aiming for a scorer. Nyquist would come over alone or with a lower-level prospect if anything, I think.

And isn't DET really high on DeKeyser? He was playing really well for them before he got hurt. I'd think they'd be least reluctant to give him up.

Sproul would be a very good pickup. Not a straight swap for Del Zotto, but I'd love to target him. Nyqvist and Sproul would probably be too much. Tatar and Sproul might get it done, but Detroit has cap issues. We'd probably have to absorb a cap dump somehow.

You're absolutely correct about DeKeyser. Acquiring him is a pipedream.

Nyqvist and Sproul would be too much, yep.

DZ makes 2.55 mil, Tatar makes 630k and they have 530k in cap space WITH DeKeyser on LTIR. Finding a cap dump might be the thing that would hold a deal up. Unless we retain salary..

When you say acquiring him is a pipedream... what are we giving up that makes it a pipedream?

id like sproul and tatar. maybe they add in tootoo or eaves to get rid of a contract? would love if we could get nyquist but hes been tearing up the AHL this year.

how about Canucks Rangers

Rangers trade Del Zotto, and Boyle
Canucks trade Jensen, Kassian and Tanev

Is Sproul a regular?

why must u put boyle in to every single trade offer???

I don't understand it. Boyle played a solid game last night. He fits a key defensive role on this team. Why are we constantly overhauling the team? It's one thing to trade pyatt, pouliot, and del zotto at some point this year because 2 out of the 3 haven't been with the organization that long. Del Zotto will get you the best return. Boyle has been here for awhile now. You need to have chemistry and consistency. Boyle has respect in that lockerroom. You don't move guys like him. Keep him on the 4th line and PK and this teams motors along.

gotta give up something to get something... it will be his 1st time as an UFA. do fans really think that he will take a paycut as an UFA. what if he gets hurt and cant play anymore. im sure some team would overpay for him when he becomes an UFA in the summer... why risk letting him walk as an UFA without getting anything back in a trade...

i doubt Boyle stays here just like Prust left.

I mean, ask yourself what you would require to give up a guy McDonagh when he first broke into the league. DD might not top out as a legitimate #1 defender, but he's an extremely good player already. Hugely important to the Wings. They wouldn't move him for Del Zotto, or Del Zotto plus some additional pieces.

And I'm glad we didn't deal Prust at the deadline in his walk year because we ended up going to the ECF.

We went over this with you in the GDT yesterday and you kinda just gave up on the argument when a bunch of us basically explained to you that you cannot always maximize your UFA's to be. Sometimes it is better to just hold onto them and take your chances for the sake of the team needs.

A Rangers-Canucks deal.

Del Zotto + 3rd 2014 for Kassian and Frank Corrado.

Kassian is not nearly as proven a commodity as Del Zotto. He is younger and should at least be a good 3rd line winger. He can be undisciplined but he is big, nasty and tough as nails. I would like to get him. With luck he turns into some kind of equivalent of Milan Lucic. Corrado is a righty right side d-man--maybe the Canucks best D prospect.
