We already have a 3c who projects to be dominant in that role, given ample development time in AHL (give or take a year).

Oscar Lindberg. He's the future there. Team was impressed with him during camp. No one's talking about him now because the only prospects that seem to be hyped are the ones that play the big time minutes: Kreider, Kristo, Miller, McIlrather, etc.

Richards is gone next year. Brassard moves up a line. Miller should be able to earn a spot for the year on the 3rd line. Lindberg in the same boat as Miller.

We'll need gritty guys for the 4th line. Does Moore resign? Does Boyle?

it will be his 1st time as an UFA for Brian Boyle, would he take a little cut to stay here or does he take a chance and sign with a different team and it might or might not work... i see Boyle walking....

I think he stays. AV seems to like him, his teammates like him. He is a quality player for the bottom-6 even with his limited offensive output of ~25 points/season

Although I could see Montreal signing him for too much money. There center ice position is tiny and he already has chemistry with Prust.

But now, for the first time since the squad gathered for the opening meeting of training camp, they and everyone else will get the chance to determine who they are and what they can be with an essentially full complement of players on hand.

The Bruins are the team in the East to which the Rangers must measure up in order to succeed. They have the diversified roster against which GM Glen Sather must measure his club’s personnel. They are an obstacle the Blueshirts couldn’t surmount last spring and they were the opponent who broke Vigneault’s heart in 2011 in the seven-game Stanely Cup Finals victory over the Canucks.

Chicago beat LA and Boston. The Hawks went 4 lines deep and all of their players were good skaters. That's not this Rangers team. Its hard to match LA and Boston physically.

He loves it here. But I can see that too.

Then again Boyle is a troop. We gave him his first legit shot of an important role.

50/50 shot he remains.

As for moving MDZ for someone. He needs to net a top 6 winger.

Nash, Kreider, Callahan, Hagelin, Miller, Zuccarello. Those are our top 9 wingers projected for next year.

As much as I hate to say it Zucc probably goes elsewhere . Love that guy.

Meaning we need someone else in there. Kristo could be that guy but in that scenario we'll have 3/4 rookies in the lineup. AV is rookie averse it seems like. He has his hands full with Kreider and Miller. Kristo and Lindberg and likely Allen and/or McIlrath.

That's not happening.

Someone's on the move with DZ.

one reason Rangers should find a replacement now instead of waiting till Boyle leaves if he does... Rangers dont wanna be in the same situation signing 2 crappy players for the same price as what Boyle would get... sadly i can some team offering 2.0 -3.0 per year... if he wants that much id let him walk.... Zach Smith, Nate Thompson would be good options if Boyle leaves..

Zuccarello is a RFA at years end. I would doubt the Rangers just let him walk.

I like Moore as a back-up option. He has played well. Young players should take a step forward as well hopefully. Hrivik, Kristo, Fast, Lindberg would all be another year older and stronger.

Why would Zuccarello go elsewhere? Obviously the season is young, but so far, it seems pretty clear that AV loves him. There have been games where Zuccs gets more ice-time than any other forwards, he's used on the PP and the PK, is extremely popular in the locker room and we know Sather loves Zuccs as well.

Seems like the odd man out. Nash and Cally are guarantees. Hags and Kreider are near certain guarantees. Miller and Zucc could remain too, but with Kristo, Fast and likely whoever we get for MDZ it'll be tough to find a spot for all of them.

Agreed, good problem to have. Callahan needs to re-sign first through.

Thought he was UFA at end of year. Great news.

Yeah, it's a very good thing to have him as a RFA.

We are definitely not on par with Chicago.

But, I don't think we are as far away as it might look. Some of those Chicago players have been so hyped due to playing decent hockey late in the season, but I mean, move 60% of that roster to teams like Florida or Winnipeg or whatever, and nobody even gives a rat arse about them. Stahlberg, Bickell, Handzus, Frolik, Saad, Kreuger and several others.

They are a very well coached team and has been driled together for years, AV is starting from scratch in that department. And they acknowledge the need to have 4 complete lines and some depth on top of that. They haven't gone with a Stu Bickel as 4th line winger just because they had a coach who didn't believe in depth. They have added talent to all D pairings and all lines. Towes and Kane has been essential in enabling them to build in the same direction with patient for a long time, that is the key, but they have also made some really solid decisions.

We still have Torts roster here in NY. We don't really have any offensive punch from the blueline, we are short on "smarts" for sure on the depth lines. We have premiered guys like Pyatt, Asham, Boyle, Powe and the likes for too long. But we have alot of ability through out the lineups. I mean, we have a Brassard on a 3rd line. The kid got a ton of hockey in him and would definitely stand out as "lux" if Chicago had him in a depth line with the support they could provide. When Nash is back, we can definitely spare a player like maybe Callhan to a third line. We have really solid kids like JT Miller pushing from behind.

On D, we have 6 really valuble D's and some depth.

Del Zotto to Senators
Brian Boyle to Senators

Z.Smith to Rangers
Curtis Lazar to Rangers
Matt Puempel to Rangers

would this be fair??

Senators aren't dealing Lazar. Swap Lazar for say Conacher and I think that's pretty good

I think the Rangers are deep and can skate they just have 1 player that can be considered top level. Chicago had a bunch. I don't think the reason Chicago could be Boston while the Rangers would struggle is the lack of depth on the Rangers, it's their lack of top end talent.

So we re-sign Zucc, and when one of the kids proves that he can fill that spot, we trade Zucc.

Come on man. It was hard enough typing that he'd leave. Just when i'm happy again that he's only a RFA you come in and bring me back down.

Cruel. Just cruel.:(

Whoever said this is Torts roster hit the nail on the head. We are suffering in the bottom 6 due to guys who were left over from the prior style of play. Also, the some guys not working out and of course before tonight injures.

Getting rid of Pyatt and Asham's of the world is needed. Speed and IQ is need in this style. E other next year we will

1. Sign free agents who fit this mold
2. Have kids ready to play this style
3. Great combination of both

Ideally, guys like Lindberg, Fast, and Kristo are ready to make a difference. Miller too. Could make signing a top end player to fill out a 1st line much easier. Same with resigning players and letting others go. The cap will rise. Our top prospects aged 20-22 are close to be NHL players. Might see some this season again.

if we are a bubble team near the playoffs, i see slats trading DZ, if we're fighting for the top MDZ will stay..

If we do move him i want to try and pry Big buff, seto (salary reduc) for MDZ+ or MDZ for Ladd, a solid player like callahan that can play anywhere in the lineup, but has a cup and experience is key..

off season...

i think with buyout of richards..

Slats will go hard for Stasny, or I could see Thorton for a 2-3yr deal to play with nash..

otherwise i hope we go after..

Stasny
Seto
Carcillo

i rather pay Seto 3m then 2 of Pyatt pouliot type tweeners.. go into next year like..

Kreider-Stepan-Callahan
MZA-Stasny-Nash
Hags-Bras-Seto/Kristo (if seto doesn't sign)
Carcillo-Boyle-Dorsett

Mash

Don't think we could get either Setoguchi or Ladd for MDZ straight up and I think Brooks quoted earlier this weekend that we're not making a package deal so that's pronbably not gonna happen already

Right now, Brassard and Pouliot not producing in the bottom 6 are far bigger problems than Asham and Powe, who haven't played for the Rangers in a month and probably won't be called up again, or Pyatt who has missed the the past 2 weeks with a concussion.

Very interesting to hear Dreger say that "5 or 6 teams" are interested in DZ. He doesn't BS. Seems like he may actually get traded and soon.
