I know it's weird to say, but does this team need more top 6 scoring right now? As it is, who gets demoted when Nash comes back? One of Stepan, Kreider, Zucc, Richy, Cally, Hags and I am racking my brain to figure out who that is.

In the spirit of scouting the Jets, what about Del Zotto and Pyatt for Paul Postma (I know he's injured) and a second rounder?

No offense, but that's pretty awful. I understand Pyatt is a contract dump, but even so, we're essentially getting Postma and a 2nd for Del Zotto. I'd rather keep Del Zotto if that's the best return the Rangers can get.

Any trade involving Del Zotto starts with a right handed defenseman with similar upside or a top six forward, and go from there. I'd do Little and Postma for DZ, but I don't think the Jets would.

Only dmen I would be interested in from WPG are Byfuglien/Enstrom and we would have to add for both

Very weird indeed; we need as much scoring we can get. We have been great defensively during our hot streak, but we still struggle to put up goals...

In terms of even strength lines, I think the easy decision is Cally. He plays 1st PP and PK, he'll get his minutes. Let him play 3rd line 5v5 minutes.

Hagelin - Richards - Nash
Kreider - Stepan - Zucc
Pouliot - Brassard - Cally
Boyle - Moore - Dorsett

Mashinter as a spare
Pyatt recovering
Miller back down

If we could make 3 trades:
MDZ + for a top 6 LW/C (Hagelin then perhaps slides down to "3rd line" which is 1C). Alternatives here would possibly be Scheifele, Zibanejad, Coyle, Connolly, Demers or Kane (Pipedream kinda - would add Miller plus pick)
Pyatt (when healthy) to Montreal for D Murray (for depth with snarl)
Asham + MSC for Labarbera & Omark (a clean AHL deal filling needs there)

We would be a better team. Now and further on up the road
Pretty sure Sather - if team is "in it" - goes very hard after D Boyle at the deadline too.

Players in bold are those I'd love to get on this team. Honorable mention to Coyle.

Does D. Boyle play RD?

Watch it be Heatley that Sather is after, again..
He's currently playing on their 4th line. he could probably be had for cheap, and will be a UFA.

We really have to trade Girardi, as long as his value, as viewed by the league, is high, we'd get a great return.

Imo he's not worth that much, since his game has a couple of flaws. Offensive skills and awareness. He just doesn't help us very much.

Now we all know, if he does get traded, he'll win a Norris Trophy, but that's just something we'll have to accept by then. A great promising young return would make that situation very agreable.

Nice and fine, but the Rangers don't have the cap space to fit Heatley in any move that doesn't involve almost as much going back in salary.

The team just got shut out again for the 4th time this season. So to answer you question, YES.

It was quoted somewhere in one of these trade threads that the Rangers won't be making any 3 for one trades. So no MDZ + Miller + a pick trades. Unless of course there is equal value AND quantity of players/picks coming back. No throw in filler players.

I think Rangersboy posted the quote a few days back.

Brad Richards had 4 goals in the first 5 games. He has 2 in the last 15.

The Rangers were 3-7 in the first 10 games. 7-3 in the next 10. Mediocrity. 10-10.

The Rangers have a lot of building to do before they can be considered Cup contenders.

The Rangers have little excess with which to work internally, on the trade market and under the cap. There aren’t going to be any three-for-one packages or bundling of kids in return for a veteran or a rental.

They had a ridiculously bad game yesterday (still lost only 1-0 and outshot the Kings), but the 3-7 team is a completely different team, they were injured, and were getting used to the system. They had no Kreider, no Callahan for times, no Hags, no Nash, and a Stepan that was rounding into shape. The D was learning a new system (as was the O). Why do people insist on bringing up the 3-7 start? The Bruins in 11-12 started 3-7 and went on an absolute tear. That team was together from what their cup win and I don't believe had that many injuries. Yet when they started playing better no one remembered that 3-7 team, because they were irrelevant. No we're not playing as well as the Bruins, but we're clearly a different team yet people bring that 3-7 start up just to show how much the Rangers suck. The way the Rangers have been playing outside of the Kings game, they're a lot closer to the 7-3 team.
