I think the possibility of getting yak could be very exciting having him and Kreider together for years ti come

Dreger just said on NHL Tonight that there is NO chance the Oilers trade Yokopov

So there.

Never understand reporters giving chances and probabilities. It's their opinion. No chance they move him... in his opinion. Given, his opinion is likely more valid than ours since he has many more sources and is closer to management than us, but it is still his opinion in the end.

No chance we would sign Scott Gomez a few years ago too. Any variable can change that. For Gomez it was money. For the Oilers, some team could come in and offer them something they really need. Doesn't have to be the Rangers.

So there.

But Dreger is stupid.

Its an extremely tough market right now, I think its pretty easy to overlook if you can acquire a potential top pairing D that can lead a team all the way.

I think its pretty obvious that EDM gotta make at least a move or two to build a more complete team than they have right now. If Yaks isn't moved "now", its because there isn't a market for him. We wouldn't for example give up McD to get him.

But the Oilers are definitely already looking at these kind of moves. I would bet my house on it. If Slats called up McT and put McD on the table, I would be that McT would have some explaining to do because I just have a hard time seing him not taking that offer for example.

Bob McKenzie said NO Chance Edmonton moves Yakupov. He was on NHL Live yesterday and was asked. He said the same thing last week. Bob knows. Some people will continue to believe what they want.

John Shannon also said Yakupov won't be moved. The Sportsnet info from Tuesday has been confirmed by Brooks. Nash has been skating and a Michigan doctor is taking care of Nash's concussion. Its obvious McKenzie,Dreger and Shannon are in a conspiracy to lie about Yakupov being traded to the Rangers. The Rangers denied the Nash stuff but it is true. Shannon and Millard had it first.

Haha no. Stepan goes nowhere unless it's for an upgrade at center. And the idea of trading Stepan is just ridiculous.

This.

To trade for Kane it'd require 1 of Stepan or McDonagh. I don't fancy trading either.

Good. We wont overpay for an extremely talented but flawed player.

If McKenzie and Dreger say it, that's good enough for me. MacT and Lowe should give up scouting the Rangers then because we aren't giving up anything of value for Hemsky or any other piece of garbage that team wants to get rid of.

If they think they are going to improve their team by dealing Hemsky, well I think that right there speaks to how the Oilers are being run as an organization.

Likewise, if the Rangers think Hemsky will help this team. :help:

Does Edmonton need to have their entire front office on a scouting trip? All of that brain power. Lowe has running the Oilers for as long as Sather has been running the Rangers. Edmonton made the finals in 2006. They haven't made the playoffs since 2006. Edmonton is not making the playoffs this season. Not in that conference. It will be eight straight seasons of no playoff hockey in Edmonton.

So, it certainly sounds like a deal to EDM is unlikely at best, but does anyone have any ideas as to who MDZ could realistically return in a more or less 1-for-1 trade?

I took a quick and very unscientific look at which teams in the league might be looking for defense help, and might also have some offense to unload. I crosschecked teams that are top half of the league in GF, but also bottom half in GA. The teams that popped up were WSH, OTT, PHO, NYI, and CGY. Now, obviously WSH and NYI are very unlikely to trade with us since we're divisional foes, but is there any basis for a deal with the other 3 teams, OTT, PHO, and CGY?

So much for Yokapuv.

They're playing well right now. Unless it is a homerun trade, they need to do nothing.

Yakupov is not being traded

http://www.edmontonsun.com/2013/11/...efutes-trade-rumours-surrounding-nail-yakupov

Edmonton isn't making the playoffs. Is their #1 pick in 2014 in play? They will have a top 5 pick. None of the conditional stuff about protecting the pick if its in the top 3 or top 5. None of that ********.

Can any of the 2014 top picks play in the NHL next season?

DZ for the pick.

That doesn't help the Rangers this season.

Edmonton agrees to pick up 50% of Hemsky's contract. The max is 50%.

DZ is at $2.55M. Hemsky has a $5M cap hit. Picking up 50% evens out the money. Its 50% of the salary and cap hit.

DZ for #1 pick in 2014 which allows the Rangers to add a top young player and 50% of Hemsky. They can let Hemsky walk away as a free agent in the summer.

I hate Hemsky but the pick could turn into a very good player.

Edmonton gets DZ. Hemsky gives the Rangers a right handed shot.

The idea is to turn Del Zotto into a forward or even into another D. If you can't make a trade for a player, then trade for the pick and you select the player. It will be a high pick.

MDZ for Hemsky (50%) + their #1? I'd have to think about it. They end up top 5 and we could be looking at the Deutschland Dangler Leon Draisaital or maybe even Dal Colle. Use our 1st in a trade later on down the line to pick up something else we need. Bruins model.

Losing 20 quality minutes at a gamble is not going to help the Rangers win unless it is replaced.

Given that the entire Oiler brass was there two games in a row, I think that where there is smoke, there is fire, and if I was a betting man, I'd say if there is any deal to be made, it will be a multiplayer deal including NHL pieces.

If Dreger is stupid, than what does that make you or anyone else who posts here?

The Yakupov stuff is dead - it was dead before it even started. Moving on....

I would think the Yakupov stuff being dead depends on whether these guys are talking from front office sources or basing it on Eakins comment. If it's based on Eakins comment, then I'm skeptical.

That being said, I trust McKenzie with this stuff.

Hemsky at half price and their 1st rounder for Del Zotto wouldn't be the worst deal I've seen, but I've just never been a fan of Hemsky. He's a perimeter player who lacks decisive shooting ability. Seems like another awful reclamation project.

If I'm trading Del Zotto, I want something established coming back. Not a package of question marks and maybes.

Mehhhh. Was hoping for Yakupov. Would've been a really exciting player to have. Oh well.

I don't want Hemsky at all, even for free, because he's just the polar opposite of what this team needs. We have a tougher, more skilled version of him in Zuccarello (). I'd only take him if salary was retained and he was a throw in with a much better piece.
