Improve by adding Hemsky?
Another move that looks good at first glance and then blows up because you know that the hopes for Hemsky will be high, and it will be secretly helds as another fingers-crossed 'he will be different once we get him' prayer that never comes true.

Not to mention the fact that it is not going to be just Pyatt going over.

NYR needs to avoid Hemsky.

If its a straight dump its nit a bad move if they retain some salary. If it requires any sort of significant pieces stay away. It's that simple.

id give up a LOT to get Evander Kane on this team...exactly the kinda kid you want on this club...fits AVs style to a Tee...

But, it would probably be cost prohibitive..that team has a lot of real good parts...honestly their awfulness doesnt make much sense...they should be a much better team than they are.

It actually makes a lot of sense. Suspect defense, shaky goaltending and not great down the middle.

Oilers management make turmoil for themselves through poor drafting. For some teams, it's a no-brainer to take the best player available. That was not the case with the Oilers once they kept tanking.
They make a problem for themselves drafting too many forwards, and they compound their problem by not being decisive on what to do about fixing their glaring problems.
Dallas Eakins is a good coach, but he can only do so much.

As for Oilers fans, I am surprised by how many of them (perhaps it is just a case of vocal minority) don't seem to 'get it'.
Since I have never really respected Kevin Lowe as an executive very much, I find it amusing. That Oilers team needs to make a trade NOW. I think they will.

Hey when you've played 16 games and only have 4 wins, that clocks in at 25% winning percentage. The same odds as winning the draft lottery. I always thought Lowe heavily considered Murray in '12, giving him a spot of WC team and all.

Hey Oiler fans, did EDM want to trade down that year? Yakupov was considered the best player available, but how has the on ice product looked that he would be a part of trade talks?

Question: Why would the Oilers trade Hemsky if they're going to be retaining some of his salary? Especially when he's a UFA?

Winnipeg is paying millions to a guy they have issues with off the ice. Annual Evander Kane rumors now. Three years running since the team relocated that whispers of Kane being moved are out there. Take a look at teams with disgruntled players, and take a look that their records, eventually you have to cut the cord for the greater good.

Say what you will about Sather, but the kids that have grown through the Ranger farm system have all been quality guys that are team players.

BTW for those not in the know, Winnipeg has had to call in Evander Kane's dad to come check on his son, and keep him focused and in line. This has been happening for a while, and is something that's been reported by a major media insider on Canadian Radio. Just an interesting tidbit for those curious.

your not the only one.. id rather Rangers trade for him over Yakupov...

Winnipeg is such a great hockey town. They support their hockey clubs, but I also get the feeling that they are wondering themselves about why the team is not really turning the corner. They have some talented players, though they definitely have to pay more attention to the back end. You just never know about which player becomes available when, and for which assets coming back.

Kane is one of those all around great players, can and does do it all, but he is probably underachieving right now.

per Gord Miller on twitter, "@GMillerTSN: Evander Kane of the Winnipeg Jets took the morning skate and was in the warmup. But Kane is out tonight, says he's healthy."

Hearing Kane was not medically cleared by WPG doctors.

Not sure how anyone would be against this. Hemsky is flawed, but he's talented. Of course, I don't want to give up real assets for him, but if you can get him for Pyatt, you do it in a heartbeat.

Agree. I think Hemsky needs to be with a Center that can put the puck in the net. If you can get him for a minor asset there is really no reason not to.

id deal Del Zotto Stepan Asham and 2ed 2014 and 3rd 2015 for Kane, Sutter and Stuart

Stepan is untouchable to me. Richards is going to be bought out. Brassard is one-dimensional and inconsistent. Who is going to play center? A big reason Winnipeg sucks is that their centers are horrible.

Everybody always whines about having no homegrown offensive talent, and when the Rangers finally develop some, they're already ready to trade it away.
