I mean, if he came extremely cheap and EDM ate half his salary, I wouldn't flip out. But that begs the question, why would EDM do that?

As the centerpiece in a deal to bring back Girardi or MDZ? deargodpleasenosaveoursouls

Would I flip out? No. It'd just be another nothing deal, a shot in the dark. Rucinsky, an old Sykora, Wolski, etc.

I'd prefer the team to stand pat, and fire the GM, but I know neither of those things will happen

I've long accepted the fact that Sather has a job until he either dies, or decides of his own volition that it's time to step down. I just hope against hope that this blind squirrel one day finds a nut.

Regardless if he ends up a Ranger or not, a Yakupov trade would be really exciting. How often does a #1 overall pick get traded so early in his career? And no, Eric Lindros doesn't count.

EDM rumors

i believe the rumors. i think its either Gagner or Yakupov coming our way. i hope not Hemsky. i also think any trade will have MDZ and McIlrath going the other way. SAther drafted McIlrath knowing EDM was to take him a few picks later. EDM always looking for the tough stay at home D. with MDZ and McIlrath they get both offense and in one year or so a tough D. If we get Yakupov, i am all for it. we would have to add pick/s or another player though.

Not so much excited as I am curious to see what he would bring to the team. I notice a lot of his goals are from being camped around the net. I don't know if he's gonna be someone to dangle three or four guys and snipe it. Maybe he's just more of a player that just has a knack for getting garbage goals. It'd dd I nice element and depth at forward once all our forwards are healthy.

How many would trade Kreider for Yakupov straight up?

I would.

Funny, if you asked me 10 days ago, it'd be a no-brainer.

Now, Im reluctant to trade a guy that just now seems to be "getting it" at the NHL level vs. a guy thats clearly got a long way to go.

I wouldn't.

We need to be trading from a position of strength to address a weakness. A Dman has to be the main piece in any deal for Yakupov. Yakupov for Kreider straight up solves nothing for this team, and only introduces more questions.

Agreed. It's like suddenly Kreider realized that he's bigger and faster than 90% of the guys on the ice at any given time, and he's starting to realize his potential. I expect a lot of ups and downs, but in a vacuum, you ultimately want Kreider and Yakupov in the same lineup.

Which of these players would you take:
A: 48 GP 17 G 14 A 31 Pts
B: 48/12/11/23
C: 56/10/8/18

Rarely does it happen, but when it does, it tends to mean that the player hasn't lived up to expectations. Erik Johnson was the last one to be traded, and he's never lived up the hype.

If Yakupov is seriously being traded, it means that the Oilers are in panic mode and/or there's something about him that is throwing up warning signs within the organization.

Sather: "Hey Mac, so how much for that kid. Yakulov or whatever?"

MacTavish: "His name is Nail Yakupov and he is a former 1st overall draft pick with tons of potential."

Sather: "Yeah that's what I said, Radulov. But cool, 1st overall he sounds good he must have like 40 points so far this season. Leading your team. With all the points..."

MacTavish: "He has 3 points."

Sather: "THREE POINTS?! Jesus man, let me start packing Lundqvist's bags right now."

MacTavish: "...He's got a high ceiling and great skillset-"

Sather: "I'll give you Michael Del Zotto."

MacTavish: "He's worth way more than that and yo know it."

Sather: "..."

MacTavish: "Glen?"

Sather: "Yeah I'm here Mac, just can't hear you through all the goal horns Yakupov's setting off. I'll throw in a 3rd."

MacTavish: "I can't do tha-"

Sather: "Mac..."

MacTavish: "Fine."

Think it goes more like this:

Ann: Glen, our Banff retirement house is almost ready but I need a hammer to finish hanging your Stanley Cup things.

Glen: Sure thing dear. I'll get you a hammer and off he goes roman for one.

Ann: Glen, that hammer was old and rusty but I can use it anyway. Can you get me some nails.

Glen: Sure thing dear. I thing MacT has a nail I can get for you.

Ann: Thanks Glen, by the way, I need to find a stud to hammer the nail into.

Glen: I haven't seen a stud since 1990. Just hammer the nail anywhere and use these plyatts to pull them out if you don't find one. Don't worry if you wreck the wall, I'll just tear it down and build a new one if you don't find any studs.

Ann: Thanks Glen, I can always count on you to solve my problems.

:yo::yo::yo:

We get it, Yakupov has better numbers. It doesn't change the fact that a 1-for-1 swap does nothing to help our current situation. I do MDZ+ for Yakupov, with the plus not being Kreider, Miller, or McIlrath.
