How about Nash for Jordan Staal. Jordan Staal is a big center With an okey point Production, while Nash just makes his linemates worse and worse. Carolina would prob go for the trade because Nash is a "star" and all that.
Ignoring all the other issues with that trade, Nash wouldn't waive his NTC to go to Carolina back in the summer of 2012.

I don't think that deal is necessarily as bad as most seem to think it is. You can really tell a lot of people around here haven't seen much of Methot.

A deal around Del Zotto and Methot would be a great move. It's just I'd be pissed to give up Hagelin if the only incentive is Colin "I'm 27 and still can't find regular ice time" Greening and Mark "I can't skate or stay healthy" Stone.

Me neither, Tricks Jew, me neither. People saying Del Zotto is worth that whole package makes me laugh.

LOL...it was much easier to like the Rangers when there was no internet ...just the old weekly Hockey News Mag in the mailbox...life was so simple . LOL...it is mind boggling reading through the trade banter . It has to be a full time job for some people on here reading and posting . :)

Ah... That's why I said NY, and not NYR :naughty:

Nah, I just didn't read his post. :|

U need to read mate. Look at it this way. What do we need? Another top center and a Heavy slapshot from the blueline. Marc Staal is always injured and dosent recover from his injuries. It would be good for him and this team that he is traded. MDZ makes to many bad Plays, but is still Young and got alot of potensial. Buffalo will need to rebuild and would therefore like to sign Young and talented players for the future. MDZ and Staal are that type of players. We need a D like Ehrhoff. He is everything we miss. Jordan Staal for Nash 2013 would be a good trade for us. Jordan is younger and will give us more Depth on center. Nash is the more talented player, but he cant handle the pressure. He is probably best when playing for crappy teams like CBJ.

Kassian is not what this team needs...
That reminds me, I had a dream last night that the trade deadline was yesterday.

The Canucks got Lucic from Boston for Kassian and Marchand (:help:)

The Rangers made like 8 deals. I only remember they got Dustin Byfuglien for a package centering around Dane Byers and they traded Michael St. Croix for picks.

Nash is not happy right now. This is the first rly bad season in his career. So maybe he would like a trade to Carolina? After all Carolina got players like E. Staal, Skinner, Syomin and Sekera. So they are better offensivly than us. So maybe he would?

I don't have a good track of him. Is he good?

I don't think Kassian would be a bad addition at all. Add some nastiness to our butter soft lineup. And he's right handed, always an incentive.

There are a bunch of guys that I think might add things we're lacking.

I think guys like Kassian, Mason Raymond, and Jamie McGinn can be good additions, slotting in the middle 6 with the potential to get better.

Any idea of what Nashville might want for a guy like Craig Smith? He's still young, but I think he might be a good 3rd-line guy, and he can play center or the wing. Slot him on a 3rd RW with Miller at Center. If we could trade for and negotiate with Stastny...

Pure speculation/fun on my part:

Kreider - Stastny - Nash
Zuccs - Stepan - Kassian
Hagelin - Miller - Smith
Pouliot - Boyle - Dorsett

McD - Girardi
Staal - Stralman
Moore - Allen

That leaves 5 million in cap space for resigning.

Out: Brassard, Del Zotto, Pyatt, Moore, Pouliot, Cally, pick/prospect (?)
In: Smith, Stastny, Kassian, pick/prospect (?)

Why: Colorado wants a young defenseman. Package DZ with a guy like Moore (RFA, UFA) for a UFA Stastny. Add a pick as necessary. Colorado gets their d-man and a center to take in a bottom 6 role who can also PK and such. Might not want it, but it might be reasonable enough. Leaves the top 6 center positions open for Duchene and MacK. I'd like McGinn, though I'm not sure what would need to be added. I'd be open to moving Girardi, but then NYR would need a RHD coming back alongside everything else.

Nashville I'm not all that sure about a justification. I just think a guy like Smith would be a good fit for a Rangers bottom six and would like to make it work. Nashville gets (arguably) an upgrade on Smith in Brassard, though Smith is on a better pace than Brassard this year. Throwing in a guy like Pyatt gives them some extra size they're currently lacking. Not sure if they'd want it.

Vancouver--Torts gets Cally back. Rangers get a nice power forward style player with some nastiness in Kassian. Adjust the lineup as necessary as the players are fairly versatile.

Could still move Girardi/DZ if wanted. Though there would need to be nice returns to facilitate that and fill their spots.

That would (currently) leave us with about 10 million in cap space pre-resignings and pre-cap rise.

‏@Dagoon44 Rangers talking to 3 teams. 2 east 1 west Hags nash MDZ and Brass a couple of names floating

Toronto, Ottawa and San Jose. All three in on MDZ. Sharks possibly want to unite Thornton with his buddy Nash?

How about signing Milan Jurcina? or Dominik Granak from Dynamo Moscow? Jurcina got alot of NHL exp and got a biiiiig body. Granak is like the most skilled D in the KHL. Well maybe not, but still a rly good D on a team thats won the cup twice in a row.

McD, Girardi and Strålman are all playing well. Ad Ehrhoff or some other 2 way D through a trade involving Nash, Staal, Richards, MdZ or some other useless/overpayed player.

Bottom two can be Falk, Moore, McIlrath, Jurcina, Granak or some other guy.

That's the thing though. You have to somehow make up for the very large gap between Methot and Del Zotto. You're basically upgrading on Del Zotto at the expense of downgrading on Hagelin. Meanwhile, you're getting a prospect who isn't the strongest skater, but is a damn good goal scorer. If he can develop into a top-six winger with size, the Rangers would win this trade considerably, IMO.

Also, something to note is that Methot is on a great contract through next year. Greening is signed on a pretty inexpensive deal as well. Stone is on an ELC. All of that works in the Rangers favor considering that Del Zotto is up for a new deal in July, and Hagelin is only signed through next year and I believe will have one year before he's eligible to be a Group III UFA.

Me neither, Tricks Jew, me neither. People saying Del Zotto is worth that whole package makes me laugh.

Yeah, that's certainly pretty excessive.

Re the Ottawa deal, without knowing much about Methot, he could help for sure. But a left handed D just don't seem to be ideal for us...

I would take Kassian all day long. Physical power forward who can play the game eventually in a top 6 role. Players like him are hybrids. Where he tops out Is uncertain but physical forwards like him are worth thier weight in gold when it comes to grinding playoff runs.

Back to Hagelin. I see him as equal worth as Marchand in Boston. Tradeable? Certainly...But the Ott rumored return is mismanagement of assets.

Plus, Methot is a left defenseman. While I think he is a tremendous player, all signs are pointing to a Marc Staal return. McDonagh, Staal, Methot is complete overload on the left side. Methot is certainly top 4. Methot addition I'm guessing would mean the Rangers would try him on the Right side or...Marc Staal I'm guessing would be a goner.

For the record. Callahan, Staal and DelZotto I see as this organizations biggest trading pieces.

Cally because Glen is just not good with the checkbook. Callahan has yet to recieve the big payday. He's going to get it, whether that is here in NY or elsewhere in the open market. A good GM has to see the writing on the wall here. Come playoff time there will be teams that will pay big for his services. Bidding should start with 1st rounder plus prospect or legit role player.

If Methot is in a deal for MDZ he solidifies the top two LD. That leaves Staal as the next trading piece to land either a top RD or top forward. I guess a lot hinges on his return from concussionville! I do believe Staal is very tradeable. Manageable contract. Good size. Can Skate. Teams will have interest.

Glen has options now. If he waits, he's going to back himself in a corner.

Incredible wing depth in that lineup. Awesome defense.

:sarcasm:

Awesome defense leads to better offense. Im a 100% certain that Ehrhoff would make this team so much better. Think about it. The other teams know that Our Ds cant shoot the puck. With Ehrhoffs slapshot thing would change. We will ha an extra weapon. Staal and MDZ are worthless atm. Worst case senario is that Staal is the New Sauer. An injured player that never recovers.

Trade Staal now and try to get as much as possible in Return. Thats my point.
