His play as of late has made a good case for him to be worth re-signing, but let's not forget how badly he started the season. Also, it's important to remember that he's never scored at this kind of pace before. He's playing very well, but there are way too many people jumping on the "I told you so" bandwagon. Frankly, it's way too early to draw any conclusions either way.
this goes for just about every player on our team...
Zucc will deserve a contract, but it's too early to say
how much
Brass might deserve a contract, but he'll basically have to live up to his $4M QO...
Girardi might deserve a contract, but that's basically going to be up to AV deciding whether or not he wants him on this team... Something I'm starting to think less and less of. With MDZ getting better with each passing game that Staal is not playing, it almost looks like Girardi might be getting singled out. I'm not sure how I feel about that unless I know for sure that MacIlrath is ready to go, and I don't see that until middle of next season to be honest.
Girardi for Yakupov sounds SO good... we have no finishers which Yak happens to be, and there is one reason alone why this guy WON'T be like Loser Rick Nash...
Yak has been in the league for only ~2 years and subjected to a losing culture.
Nash has been in the league for 12-14 years, and subjected to a losing culture (the ENTIRE time)
Getting Yak from now up until the deadline is CRUCIAL in my opinion. We have the parts to trade for it, it's worth a shot since we're not getting a top 10 draft pick anyway. We have a guy going to Free Agency that we don't know if he will be extended. We can't get a first round draft pick through the draft, trade for it RIGHT NOW. It's the logical way around it
