Every year the Oilers don't win the Cup the window closes a bit more. They aren't going to win it this year. If McDavid looks elsewhere then you can fold the franchise because we won't get back into contention until the rot up top is completely gone.

Do you think this team, as they are right now, can beat two of Vegas/Colorado/Dallas/Winnipeg?
Dude, you said exactly the same thing multiple times last year. Over and over and over again.

You're not the model of credibility when it comes to prognostications.

They only used 534k of Kane's 5.25 LTIR
It's baby steps! This year they learned you can use LTIR salary for the deadline (doesn't mean you have to use it). Maybe next year they can actually use it.

Maybe Katz wouldn't let them use the LTIR money lol.

Yeah. People completely missing that getting LA and Van straight up should've been easy walk out of division. As in it never gets easier. Vegas aren't losing in first round unless they face Colorado in which case anything could happen.

Wouldn't surprise me if they face STL first round. They'll beat that team. Oilers like with LA again
There’s also zero way we win that Vancouver series if Demko didn’t get hurt. That’s a reality people ignore too. It took a lot of hard work and luck to get to that point and we currently have a worse team.

Ugh I hate the prospect of LA again. Especially if they figure it out and bounce us.

Gregor is unraveling trying to defend this shit. I guarantee you management talked to him and he’s just being their little tool. I kinda get it considering he owns his network now and needs good relations with the org. But man it’s painful listening to this clown, Stauffer oddly is the most honest one lately.

We almost lost that series cause skinner decided to be f***ing trash also. Pickard saved him but that won’t happen again this playoffs when both of our goalies suck, especially against playoff teams too

Every single one of those teams I mentioned is better than they were last year.

We are not better than we were last year. Not even close.

I predicted months ago (and was mocked for it) that Vegas would stand directly in our way of a Cup. Go check the standings.

What makes you think this team, especially the way they've been playing for the last month, is capable of winning it all?

Guy would be working at Walmart if he had a different last name. Like people have said the nepotism in the NHL is rampant
To his credit, it takes balls to get to work on trade deadline day , see all other contenders make big moves and do absolutely nothing while having 2 of the best players in the league hoping you to provide a big defensive boost.

He's mad that his nephew got traded back to Sharks lol

Colorado I think is an even bigger problem, our goaltending is not built to withstand that kind of a barrage.

I mean ultimately though does it even matter, getting 4 rounds of favorable match ups never happens, eventually you face someone good and we'll lose when that happens because Skinner.

Skinner basically lost us two cups in my opinion. The lack of consistency and the weak goals in key games just kill you. You can't let in softies in game 7.

The year before that we ran Vegas' show for 6 games and Skinner posted an .840 while letting in a continuous spree of stinkers. Then Vegas just absolutely walked over everyone else.

We would be talking about trying to make a true dynasty for the first time in 30 years, but instead... Here we are.
The "Almost" dynasty. Selling Jerseys near you since 2006.

its as if we're paying for the 80's success forever.

Imagine a fortune teller where they tell you in this millennium the Oilers will again have two hockey legends on the roster for a longtime. But then tells you this guy is the starting goalie...

No. Carolina relented and let teams speak with Rantanen and gauge interest in a long term deal. This is something Carolina should have done before trading for him
Ok, for the sake of argument, let's say that is true.

How are the Oilers going to give Rantanen a better deal than he is getting in Dallas?

The West was weak last year. We took advantage of that. That won't happen again.

His defenders are probably the ones recommending him podcasts and books since they’re as full of shit as he is.

I never could stand him.

Yep, looking more and more like last year was the door opening for us, we didn't take advantage and sat on our ass happy with adding just Henrique and watched a golden opportunity come and go.

When Vancouver was stuck playing their third string goalie against us, you knew the sea was parting for us, we just didn't get it done.
