His save percentage is nearly .900...

Oh wait.

Without him even saying I knew he wasn't no Chess player. ;)

Double negative on purpose if anybody asks..

Silvos was .882 in the Edm-Van series ... lol.

Like you almost have to try to lose a series where the other team's goalie is .882, has any team in the modern history (post 1980s, very early 90s) won a series with their starter being .882?

Well if you mean an .882 or lower, because Skinner, as the starter of that very same playoff series, finished with an .833: the lowest save percentage of any goalie to win a playoff round in the cap era. And potentially ever. I really hope someone takes the time to find me a worse number for another goalie that "won" a series...

Sorry I'm not taking the word of pissed off San Jose fans lol

I think it's worth listening to all sides and having realistic expectations.

I don't know why so many oilers fans are being negative. The oilers have shown for the last few years that they ramp up their game in the playoffs. Kane returning, acquiring Frederic and Walman were big pick ups. That's a top 4 dman and a truckulant power forward that scores goals.

The kings are gonna be the oilers opponent again this year most likely and
It's gonna be the same outcome.
Oilers will win.

The knights will be the second round opponent this year most likely, the oilers will grind them down and win.

It doesn't matter who plays the oilers in the western conference final. The oilers will grind and pound Dallas, Winnipeg or Colorado.

Florida is gonna be the team to come out yet again and they will lose this time against the oilers.

I lost all respect for that cueball bozo when I asked him about Dustin Schwartz and why he still had a job and he gave me some speil about how he was a good guy in the room or whatever.
What he did with that Gibson hit job article was beyond unprofessional. Taking one or two obscure stats and extrapolating them out to paint a negative picture while at the same time saying Gibsons good stats wouldn’t relate to the oilers is mind numbingly stupid. And if it’s not stupid it’s misleading and manipulative. I have absolutely zero respect for the guy.

Man people really need to stop crying. This happens every year. For the first time since Ekholm, we got a top 4 Dman. For the first time, in a LONG LONG TIME, we have 4 actual top 4 Dmen playing in top 4 Dmen spots along with a #4-5 Dman (Kulak) playing. Thats a win.

Yeah we could've used a top six winger. It sucks. Hopefully this makes Knoblauch use Jeff Skinner

I'm looking at puckpedia and like others have said, we have 3 million in space still lol. Are they calling up Savoie?

So you think we had assets comparable to Stankoven + multiple 1sts and 2. 3rds that CAR eventually got.

All that for a winger making 12M per.

How about filling the holes in the roster instead.
Fair point. Then switch focus and add Donoto or Zetterlund. Do something

Yeah, because Skinner will totally bounce back from a shitty season and the oilers historic PK will return. Good grief, some of you posters trying to use last season for skinner’s excuses is just comical
Yeah. the Oilers have had to dig deep for good as possible shot, chance suppression for two years to roll this cart anywhere and through multiple coaches.

But we continue to roll the cart with hexagon wheels because it was able to roll down hill once. Goaltending like this rarely goes anywhere in playoffs where goaltending has been the trump card for almost all of NHL history.

Team get on a roll in playoffs with quality goaltending. Even the 90 Oilers weren't going anywhere without that key ingredient. Neither were the 2006 Oilers.

You were stomping your feet all TDL.

It’s not a good thing that our team fails almost every TDL.

"We need a goalie!! We need a goalie!!! WE NEED A GOALIE!!!!"

Oilers don't sign Rantanten to an 8 year, 12+M AVV contract on deadline day, with McDavid contract on the horizon.

"WHAT A FAILURE BY OUR GM!!!!"
I've said from the start our number 1 need is a fast speedy winger for Leon. The team knows this also

Absolutely false. Go look at the same thread last year. Ppl were a hell of a lot more optimistic. Not moving past skinner was the dagger. And if you can’t see that then that’s on you. Can’t win if the goalie can’t stop the puck. And he can’t do it consistently enough because he’s not a starter. Simple. We. Need. A. Goalie.

So you’re saying we at least need to have the 5th best SP 5x5 to have a chance…..
Let’s see the last 10 cup winners and team sv% 5v5
Florida 2
Vegas 9
Colorado 5
Tampa 10
Tampa 7
St Louis 12 (Binnington added half way)
Washington 13
Pitts 8
Pitts 5
Chicago 2

So at least going back 10 winners not a single one has had a goaltending tandem even close to as bad as ours.

This isn't EA, you can't just disable the cap to stack your team.

It's incredible that anyone thinks this was a possibility considering the deal Rantanen is signing.

You do know it was a 7 game series against Vancouver right? And 3 of our games we won by a single goal? You won’t think Vancouver going from an AHL starter to legit NHL starter would have made a difference in even a single game?

The comedian you're chatting with was fully on board with a new goalie less than 24 hours ago. Not sure what changed, was it the first good game Skinner has had in six, or the swarm of tribal apologists who have gone back into hiding after excreting their delusional takes?
