That's a bit of a stretch. The 2022-23 team was very good and were a few momentum swings away from taking a stranglehold on the cup champs that year.

The current Oilers team is very good. They just haven't been playing like it the past month. They need to spend these last 20 games focusing on details and ramping up for the playoffs. They have the ability to do it and they've done it, not just in last season's playoffs, but for large portions of this season.

Time for the guys to use these injections into their lineup as a spark to get going and ramp it up for when it matters.

I think McDavid is tired of the amount of shit he has to carry here. It looks like it has caught up to him this year.

Did we not have room to make another move? Or assets?

This is the last good run at it we have. Kind of concerning that we got a banged up Frederic and a defenceman who, will good, will be a tier or two below the addition of Ekholm for example.

Needed another impact power forward guy up front that can make plays. Florida picking up Marchand for example at that price.
We did by flipping Klingberg/Kapanen/Janmark/Pickard

Maybe in year 11 of McDavid, he’ll finally have a #1 starting goalie in net rather than rely on Jekyll and Hyde Skinner or 3rd string Pickard.

Thanks, you just proved my point.

Bob got beat 3x that game. 1 goal, 1 post and 1 that went thru him but his dman cleared it.

Our only goal came from a bottom 6 player while both theirs came from their top 2 wingers.

It's become so unimaginative to blame goaltending ppl don't even have a grasp on reality..and the reality is our top players failed to show up that game and theirs did.
So because their goalie played good it’s okay for ours to play bad. All so you can blame it on our stars? Go back to Calgary.

Also scoring 1 goal isn’t gonna win hockey games
Sure, but thats just the way it goes. Trying to find inner meaning in the loss is a waste of time. The facts are the Oilers played a good game 7. They beat Bob 3 times and unfortunately only one of them went in because of inches on a post, and because a dman made an excellent defensive play to bail him out.

If people would just take their emotions out of it when evaluating that game, you really can't blame the players and how they played. They were victims of not getting it done earlier in the series which resulted in them being in a situation where the margin of error was so so so incredibly slim. The team played a very good game 7 against a very good opponent.

Further to this - a team trailing in game 7 of the SCF has only ever tied the game twice in NHL history. Every other time, the team to get the lead first won with that lead.

You can't let in softies in game 7. You just can't.
No matter how you defend that goal, a wrist shot from distance is brutal. Skinner has a big issue with those. He is too slow to drop into the butterfly, and he doesnt have the flexibility to do a proper one. His style doesn't fit who he is as a goalie. Schwarz knows no other way to coach.

Roloson was awful in Game 1… Oilers win the Cup if he doesn’t implode in the 3rd period giving up 3 softies

Roloson was lights out for like 14 straight games to that point, lol, one bad period he was entitled to. Getting up in that game was too easy after destroying Anaheim in the Conference Final, they let off the gas, but the injury to Roli killed them.

Is this a subtle way of saying he'll get traded in the offseason when he refuses to sign an extension? That feels like the only way McDavid has a legit #1 in net next season.

It does matter
Drai is getting better and better McDavid, according to you is “tired”
We need him badly

Why should he kill himself when he doesn't have the team. Most teams in the Final don't make it back, asking two players to carry this much dead weight to a second Finals was always a long shot at best. Again the sport you're thinking about where that can happen is the NBA, this isn't the NBA.
