We have waaaay to many players coming to fit into the lineup.
Trade Tierney to EDM for Pool Party (we have enough picks and prospects to risk Tierney on a potential high end player - worth the risk IMO)
Trade Pageau if you can get a 1st (id try to re-sign him in the summer)
We trade these guys knowing that we could have used either next year in the 2/3 spot and that it will be a hole that White MAY be able to fill.
I’d keep Namestikov until we have a better idea where prospects will slot.
Looking out a year or two:

Tkachuk Brown Duclair
Namestikov Batherson/Pool Party
Formenton White Brown
Balcers Paul Abramov

Chabot JBD
Branstrom Zaitsev
Wolanin DeMelo (re-sign)
Jaros

The cupboard still has:
Thomson
Chlapik
Norris
Pinto
Davidsson
Crookshank

This draft, I would then package those 2nd round picks (+ if necessary) with the SJ/and or Pageau pick(s) to move them into the top 11.
3 picks in the top 11, sprinkle them in to the above roster over the next year or two.

1st (Top 5)
1st (15th/SJ)
1st (Pageau deal 23rd OA)
2nd (36th)
2nd (40th)
2nd (50th)

Boro gets the club a 2nd + prospect

list of defensemen who have played 300+ minutes
Boro is holding his own
And he’s easily the most physical on the list

I don’t really want to trade Pageau as I would like to see him be a Sens for life but for fun how about a trade with Edmonton.

Pageau Chlapik 2nd round for Bouchard + cap dump
Would you trade Logan brown for pageau UFA chlapik and a 2nd?

I doubt he returns that

Some of you guys overrate ufas. Did you not learn when we traded stone and Duchene?

I would trade Boro in a minute if you believe we could get a 2nd round pick, but being realistic it would more likely be a 5th or 6th.
Other teams see him as having a physical presence but that is about it!
I don't think the phone has been ringing off the hook asking about his availability.

Not apples to apples.

Try this on.

Sens in 1st after missing playoffs forever. Best player in the league might be getting frustrated with lack of team success.

Logan Brown + Anusimov/Zaitsev for Pageau 33rd overall and Chlapik.

I'd do 1 last Boro Melnyk interview and then put him on the block. We can move on from him. His leadership and toughness will be valued by someone that should give us something better back

I think he is having his best season of his career - he deserves a run in the playoffs and a chance to cash in as a UFA.

The question that PD has to answer is whether they stick to the plan to have mostly young players under 25 yrs old by yr three of this rebuild or possibly re-sign a couple of their UFAs/RFAs. My guess is that they will stick with the plan. They know they have some very good players already playing for them & they know they have a few more very good players in Belleville who are NHL ready.

They also know they have a few good players who could join Belleville next season who are forecasted to be good NHL players & they have a good number of draft picks over the course of the next few drafts to add a number of good prospects to their stock pile. While it would be a good idea to keep a few veterans around to help the younger players they also have some younger players who are quickly becoming good NHL players & have learned the ropes to pass down to the younger players.

However, the best news this yr has to be the coaching change & how Smith has these guys playing this yr & the fact that he wants a tough & hard to play against team. Now it's just a matter of staying patient while we wait for all these good players/prospects to mature & turn this team into a playoff team first & cup contender second.

What could we add to Pageau to get Bouchard? Balcers, Tierney? A second rd pick? We should seek quantity-for-quality trades as much as possible with all the assets we have accumulated. Edmonton is a good trade partner in that they're top-heavy but could use better forward depth.

A future #1 PP consisting of:

Tkachuk - L. Brown - Duclair
Chabot - Bouchard

Would be a significant improvement over what we have, and for the next little while.

would look just as good with Thomson or JBD imo

Totally agree. Boro is not getting a 2nd. On other teams he's a 6/7, you don't pay a 2nd rounder for that. I agree that he is going to get 5/6/7. I think getting a 5th would be considered a win.

We don't have too many players, as not all of them will reach NHL level.
We do not have enough top end players. We need a first line center, first line LW, first line RW, top end Goaltender and first pair RD.
That is a huge list to fill and probably can only be done via top 5 draft picks or getting very lucky with later draft picks.
We are far from being a SC contender and still a bubble team at best for making the playoffs.

You seem to be changing your tune about the coaching staff. :)

THE QUESTION Dorion needs to answer is: "Melnyk: What do you need to do to get this team into the playoffs to increase my revenues this year?"

When I say we have waaay to many players coming I’m referring to the 2/nd/3rd/4th line type of players and even if half of them are good enough we have way to many right now but not enough high end talent - which is why I’m advocating packaging the 2nds with our extra 1sts + if need to be to move up further in the draft to ensure we have 2 or 3 high end talents out of this draft.
