I don't think there's a chance the Blue Jackets would even pause to consider that.

There is no circumstance that they're trading Ryan Johansen.

I wonder what Winnipeg would be asking for Byfuglien should they be still considering moving him? He's not perfect but probably the only Dman out there potentially available that is worth considering. He would bring a level of physicality that would at least make our games feel less neutered, plus he can score from the point from time to time.

At the TD last year Ariz received a top prospect (Duclair), a conditional 1st & a 2nd for Yandle & a 4th. I'd put Yandle in ~ the same class as Buff, although he did have a year left on his contract.

I'd say a conditional 1st & a top prospect would be the ~ asking price for Buff. If available, there should be a line-up of teams in the bidding frenzy although Wpg may have to take back salary to make it work for some.

Does something like

RNH

for

Zibanejad and Methot

with a + on our side as necessary make sense?

Or do the Sens need Methot badly?

In all seriousness.. A Wayne Simmonds is what this team needs. So whether its him or someone similar, its time. Lucic won't happen, but he would make a huge difference for this team.

If LA continues to flounder I could see Lucic being made available. Kings are not going to have the cap room to resign him especially with Kopitar needing to be extended, their D needs help too. The Brown + Gaborik contracts are going to kill them. I think Lucic was just a one year stop gap move with the hope of eeking out another Cup with their current group, but if they're not even going to make the playoffs, I think they'd probably look in a different direction.

Yep. It's like I said, posters are so scared of losing their "homegrown" talent that they'd rather put up with what we have.

I'm sick of losing and barring McDavid, any player should be up for grabs. Of the MacT core, the only player I'd likely keep is Hall

you are so blind to what will eventually happen if a dumb like this was made. Say you do trade something stupid like a Yak+Klefbom for a Chara and Chara sucks/injured and we end up no better than we were before we made the trade...........now you lose two pieces you could use to go after player trades that could actually work long term and you squandered two assets on a depreciating one.

Not that I want him, but I wonder if Gaborik becomes trade bait.

Yes he's as close to untouchable as you can get. Dubinsky would be a great fit though, as would Foligno. The funny thing is I proposed Gagner for Dubinsky back when he was still with the Rangers and about 90% of the replies said bad trade for the Oilers. Gagner/Hanzal swap was laughed at as well a few years ago because Gagner was supposedly on his way to becoming a consistent 70 point player. Same thing last summer when I proposed Perron for Foligno. Same thing after Yak's rookie year when I wanted to trade him for a player like Simmonds. We sure love our fancy, uber-skilled high picks around here.

Previous Oilers management has had no clue how to build a team, and the one consistent presence through it all has been Kevin Lowe. We are the laughing stock of the league and it looks like we will set the all time NHL record for years without making the playoffs this year.

Give it to the 20 game mark or so and then I hope Chiarelli will make the necessary moves to drastically change the type of players on this team.
