Talk about short sighted. Give up a kid that is just starting for a rental that is on the back side of his career.
That sounds like the Kings of old not the Kings under DL.

That's why Lombardi gets the big bucks.

With a Cup in his back pocket, what does that do? Does it buy time, or does it turn up the heat? If Iginla were to make the team better today, do you owe it to the guys that are on the team now, who went through the playoffs and won the Cup last year, the best chance to win that you possibly can give them?

I'm not saying I'd trade Toffoli for Iginla, or that I wouldn't, but I think that's the question Lombardi has to answer in the next two weeks. What does the Cup win do?

Provided Iginla would even want to be a King.

I don't think Iginla wants to be here. I think that's the media looking at us when we needed scoring and said that'd be a fit. I think if he goes anywhere it's Pittsburgh. Playing with Crosby is ideal for him.

Iginla is an awesome player would be like adding another richards for the playoffs, its really a hard question to answer. I would rather trade up picks then toffoli. Not sure how we will make it work.

Guessing Chara 2.0 here signs with the Ranger or Flyers from what I've read, but I'm sure Dean has looked and would have some interest ... just not as much as those other teams would be willing to risk ?

I'd rather we get Danny DeKeyser ... but heck, nearly every NHL team would be interested in both of these guys.

I can agree with this. The Kings are filled with NHL ready defenseman. I thoink would have to wait awhile to get a legit shot where on other teams he might crack their line up. I'm not going to pretend I know any of these guys because well, I don't. I just know he's a huge guy and a dman.

Thanks for this. I had a feeling he would be interested. But, is it the other way around? Meh. Probably not.

I expect we'll at least take a run at one D-man. Assuming Dekeyser is out (Detroit), then Sustr is the likely next target. The problem with taking those higher end college kids is: A) the money, and B) they usually demand to play in the NHL immediately rather than going to the minors, as it helps burn off a year of their contract. I'm not really sure how, and it may have changed under the new CBA, but last year supposedly that's why Torrie Krug played a few games with Boston straight out of college.

I say DL takes a look at one of the lower cost options, such Shayne Taker if he comes out early, Nate Schmidt, Kenny Morrison (doubt he'll come out after just one year), Chris Castro, Wade Epp, Justin Baker (one more year left), Joel Hanley (also a year left), Brendan Rempel, David Makowski (one year left), Wade Bergman (he's quite small, so doubtful for the Kings), Adam Phillips (one more year left), Mike Boivin, Eamonn McDermott (one more year), Stephen Carew and Greg Coburn.

Outside Sustr, Dekeyser and Schmidt it's a thin year for D prospects, but I think we'll still be in the play for someone, even if it's not one of the big three.

Thanks for the insight. I have no idea if any of these guys are NHL ready. I know Dean is probably going to look for someone who is maybe a couple years away from joining the club. Kind of like Forbort. Plus, he wants to finish college also.(at least from what I have read) So, it works for both sides. He could be looking at another case like that.

Why wouldn't Iginla wouldn't want to be here? He knows what he's getting with Sutter and spoke highly of him. I do agree though if it came down to Penguins/Kings he would choose to go East.

All I can say is I'm glad it's not my choice. If DL does trade for Iginla and we don't get to the WCF again, people won't be too happy about it and will wonder why he gave up these assets. If he doesn't and we don't get there again, people won't be happy about it and will blame him for not making the trade.

Life of a GM.

Everytime I've seen Iginla this year he's looked uninspired and just bad. Like he's lost a step. I'd HATE to see the Kings overpay for a true rental. Especially if the game is passing him by.

I think he looks bad because of the team he's on. A change of scenery and a playoff run could do wonders for a guy like that.

Because I'm a Kings fan and its my nature to be pessimistic. Dude ha a choice in this. When was the last time a star like Iginla chose to be traded to L.A.?

One thing I can't figure out with the Iginla to LA rumors/suggestions. The Kings are overloaded with RWs and need a high quality LW if they are going to make an upgrade up front.

Brown is a natural RW who has shifted to LW. Williams, Carter, Lewis are the top three RWs on the roster. Toffoli is a RW who was also shifted to LW to play in a top six role. Penner can play RW as he has been in the past few games on the fourth line, and there's also Nolan.

On LW the Kings have Brown, King, Clifford, and Penner who appears to be back on the 2nd line. If the Kings are to add a winger, I would think that they'd be looking at a LW. Iginla has never played LW so I'm not sure if he'd be a good fit nor can I comprehend where exactly he would fit in the lineup. It would force some forwards to play a position they haven't played.

They might be thinking of doing what they did when Toffili was playing with Richards & Carter. Maybe go with Brown/Kopi/Iginla & Richards/Carter/Williams or go with Richards/Carter/Iginla and keep the 1st line intact.

Ryan Smyth did when he agreed to be traded from the Avs. No matter what you thought of that trade, or how it worked out, for this organization it was the first step in making this team a place players wanted to come to other than to work on their tans.

In my original post I had Smyth but indeleted it somehow. Guess I shouldn't post from my phone. Aside from Smyth weve got no one.

Let's be honest, Richards and Carter don't necessarily stick to their positions anyway. Other than faceoffs you can never tell which one is the center or wing.

Simmonds?

As long as you don't expect him to score 30 goals like he does with the flyers.

Simmonds, voracek, and especially hartnell thrive in the flyers system. The only guys I would want are two way forwards from the flyers cause I know once they get away from pond hockey, their production will be cut in half

I'd give up Fraser, Richardson, drewiske/Ellerby, for iggy.

Simmonds would be the same player he was in LA maybe a small bit better. Don't want him back cause we'd have to over pay.

Fraser, Richardson, Drewiske?

Why would the Flames want to take L.A.'s leftovers?

Would you guys feel comfortable if the Kings acquired Jarome Iginla and Calgary's 2nd in 2014 for Jonathan Bernier and Brandon Kozun, and then flipped Calgary's draft pick to Ottawa for Ben Bishop?

I don't know, it's Feaster. But I know I'm saying this is who I would want to give up. Most certainly there'd be someone else.

Do we really need Iginla? Offense has been great. I just don't want to waste pieces when we're really in need of defense especially if Greene and Mitchell are gone for the season
