And if Vey, or Pearson gets traded, I am going to lose it...Pearson/Vey/Toffoli is a future line in LA.

No, they're not. Kopi, Richards, Carter and Brown on the top 2 lines for the next 5 years or more leaves only one slot (williams/Penner) on each for potentially 2.

They can't play/stay together like their are in the AHL. And there's a possibility that Toffoli got to play for a few games to showcase him for the scouts The reality is that one or more could be offered up in a trade, for either a top 6 forward or a veteran D or both.

What I find so appealing with Jagr is that the guy just makes those around him better. Look at what Sutter said last night about him: his age doesn't matter because he's in such terrific shape.

He turned it on last night in the 3rd period and took over shifts. I can't remember the last time we saw Kopitar have difficulty checking a forward, but Jagr really did a remarkable job in hanging onto the puck for long periods of time inside the Kings' end of the ice.

Look at how Jagr helped Giroux and Hartnell last season. Those two had phenomenal seasons and are suddenly struggling this season without him. Imagine how Jagr would do playing with Kopitar or with Carter? I think his style and the way he plays the game would fit the Kings better than Iginla. Iginla doesn't have the puck possession or passing and creative skills that Jagr does. He's not going to find holes or buy time for teammates to get open like a Jagr would.

If the Stars make Jagr available at the deadline, I seriously hope that Lombardi aggressively pursues him. He'd be an affordable option as his contract expires at the end of the season, and he'd get a great opportunity to help a team advance to the Cup Final.

I thought about this last night as well. The plusses I saw with Iginla vs. Jagr is hunger and physicality--I imagined Iginla to be a Dustin-Brown-ish presence on another line with more finishing and that drive Shane Doan always has. But Jagr last night showed me he still has it--I was worried about his physical condition at this point, but he's still as strong as ever...

Something to consider is while Calgary joins our division next season, Dallas leaves. Hmm.

I don't know how many of you remember this, but back in 1997 there were some wild rumors circulating about the Kings possibly acquiring Jaromir Jagr from the Penguins for a large sum of cash, along with the 3rd overall pick at the draft and some prospects (namely Aki Berg and Jamie Storr from what I recall). Supposedly the deal was squelched by the NHL because they didn't want Jagr to be sold for money. I don't remember where the rumor originated but that was the buzz at the '97 Kings draft party.

As long as you don't expect him to score 30 goals like he does with the flyers.

Simmonds, voracek, and especially hartnell thrive in the flyers system. The only guys I would want are two way forwards from the flyers cause I know once they get away from pond hockey, their production will be cut in half

I would creame in pants if we got SImmonds back. Was my favorite king next to kopi when he left.
I would expect 20G/yr out of him.
No way we are getting him back though.

What the hell?!?

Theo Fleury is my favorite player in league history and the reason for my #! I had no idea of this before. Thanks for the info. Would've broken my heart to know at the time, haha.

As much as I'd like Iginla, he's just a luxury in the arms race, and doubt it would be worth what it costs to get him. Unless you win a cup, it's a deal with the devil having to play vs. Bernier/Kozun for the next 15 years. Plus, how many games are left in the regular season after the trade deadline? That's a lot for what, 12 games + playoffs? It's a gamble, for sure.

I agree fully--a little bit more certainty makes that a much easier pill to swallow.

funyy thing here is that I am die hard kings fan because of Perreault.

Would the Kings think about something like:

Williams + Clifford + prospect for Gaborik?

I don't think LA would trade either Williams or Clifford straight up for Gaborik.

So both of them plus a prospect for Gaborik? Hell no.

Forget Iginla, go get Jagr!

I'm down. One of my all time favourite players. Love to own a CZE Nagano Jagr jersey.

He has the abilitie to make his teammates work harder in practices - making them better (Giroux, Voracek, Read), and is still capable of deciding games on his own.
:)

Jagr wouldnt' cost as much and would be a pure rental. Flames are asking way too much (rumor they wanted Malcolm Subban, Chris Kelly and a 1st from the Bruins) and will price themselves out of the market. This isn't the Iggy from 3 or 4 years ago and they are cutting themselves short but not realizing that and asking a fair market price.

DL is looking for a top 6 forward and top line stay at home d. Greene will be back, I believe, before teh playoffs start .Mitchell I'm not so sure about. Even if he manages to get back to practice with the team b4 the playoffs, he's not played in almost a year and that knee (or how tentative he might be playing on it) might change the way he plays. Even if he does come back, he's done after next year. If you can get a veteren D it might not be a rental, it might be to take Willie's place.

I'd bet he's already approached the Stars about Jagr, who would be good fit for a playoff run, he's got an insane work ethic and has experience in playoffs, OT, et c, that you want for the Cup run. The workout routine he does religiously makes him one hard player to move off the puck . Look at the board battles he had with Kopi in the 3rd. He's still a very dangerous player and a very very smart one.

Yeah, I actually wouldn't mind Jagr, especially if the price isn't too bad. Much rather have him then Iginla which will probably cost an arm and a leg.

This x1000. Even if Jagr's offense dries up, he's still got the size and strength to create a lot of offense just by his board work and drive to the net. He'd be a great fit in the Kings system. Not to mention we likely could get him for a 2nd and something, not a 1st, Pearson, Lewis and Fraser like what Iginla will likely command.

I'd be down to acquire Jagr...makes more sense as a rental.

Okay guys, put your thinking caps on. Why would Dallas trade away their top goal scorer when they are thinking playoffs? They are currently one point out.

:shakehead

You're not going to see a lot of love for that trade.

Justin Williams really helps the 1st line click and his game has really been coming on strong after a really slow start to the season where he was still getting his conditioning and timing back in order.

Kyle Clifford came into the season really strong after logging prime ice time at the ECHL level during the lockout. He's been one of the few players that has been firing on all cylinders since the first drop of the puck.

If he had a better scoring touch he might have double the goal totals he has now because he has gotten breakaways and point blank opportunities through sheer effort and hustle. He hasn't converted on them, but at least he's creating chances on a fairly regular basis.

We all said that in March of last year......we were all positive. But then Penner had a big playoffs...

If Penner has a big playoffs again......

Salary cap is going down, Quick's new deal kicks in, Voynov will be getting a significant pay raise, etc. There simply is no money for Penner next year without major changes to the roster

If he were to say at the same salary he wouldn't be hard to fit into the new cap. It's does DL want to fit him in?

Exactly.

I was surprised how many people blasted my thought of trading Toffoli for Iginla yesterday.

Probably due to age. Iggy is not the Iggy from Five years ago.

Toffoli is the only pure Goal scoring prospect the Kings have.

Also if the Kings are going to deal Toffoli, a Big/bad/Nasty, minute eating Defender (top 2) better be the deal Toffoli goes in.

The Kings should never expect Mitchell to come back. Treat it like a bonus if he does.

Well obviously they won't be trading unless they are out of it, but if they are looking bad at the tradeline then I would get Jagr. Honestly, I really don't want Iginla at all. I just don't think its worth it.

I think it's bad form for our board to target players on playoff-bubble teams as rentals in trade discussions.

Other teams' fans historically do that and we've laughed at them. Let's not go that route.

I think Penner is leading the kings in shots off with one arm lol.
