Ye i agree with KingKopitar, someone like Read looks nice, but Leino looked like a world beater in Philly's system

But couldn't you say that Bernier's value is being inflated do to the fact that he plays on a defensive oriented team out in the western conference?

This is equally true, which is what we have to take advantage of.

The Kings are scoring enough goals now that our style of play is no longer an excuse for lack of production. I'd like Read here, definitely, but it doesn't seem to be Philly's MO to trade for a young goaltender. I expect them to sign someone like Mike Smith in the summer.

May be hard to believe but LA has scored more goals than Philly this year.

we are 8th overall in D and 7th overall in O, i dont think we need much help at the deadline. Maybe on stay at home Dman for insurance but honestly we should trade off anything drastic

Wasn't Richards and Carter on their second line in 2010-2011?

They were switched around a lot. I still like Couturier a lot as he plays a more defensive game like Richards and the Flyers have soured on him this year because of the sophmore slump. Besides that, other than Giroux (lol, if he becomes available), I wouldn't trade for any of the Flyers. They just don't fit in the Kings system.

You can say that for sure, but just like Bryz he'd probably not do good there. I don't see any goalie working out for them with that system. I don't know it's just that our defense right now isn't too hot at times and Bernier's come up big but comparing the effects of a teams system to goalies and forwards are different imo.

Again Bernier has really been consistent and improved and shown us why he was drafted that high and not an anomaly. But some random college kid named Read who is turning 27 just seems too risky to bite on.

Simmonds ? Schenn ? :sarcasm: ;) Hartnell, Voracek ... I think they'd all fit in with the Kings ... though I wouldn't move much off the current team to get 'em, unless Dean can work his Jedi mind trick to get Simmonds back for D. King or something like that ?

Matt Read would be a good fit, he's the FLyers best 2 way player, very smart, great hands, fast and rarely makes a mistake, good in all 3 zones and a warrior. Came back 4 weeks early from a rib muscle tear. He was penciled in to be Richards LW for last year (before Snider changed that).

Couturier should have never been on the Flyres last year, not at 18. After his five games he should have gone back to Juniors and this year should have stayed witht he Phantoms. The Flyers rushed him, he should have been given the opportunity to develop the right way. No pressure on him last year as a rookie but after he displayed his defensive prowess, this year a lot more was expected. They put too much pressure on him; Snider's quest for a Cup creates that. Given a more years to mature and add some muscle and he'll be a top 2 way forward. My fear is that Homer will do a panic move and we'll lose him for Jay Bou. I 'm so tired of HOmoer trading away young talent.

So who on the Kings roster would you give up to get Iginla?

Yes:
Stoll, King, Lewis, Nolan, Fraser, Martinez, Ellerby, Richardson, Drewiskie

Maybe, depending on what else is in the trade:
Williams, Clifford, Muzzin, Bernier

No:
Kopitar, Brown, Richards, Carter, Toffoli, Doughty, Voynov, Scuderi, Quick

The only ones I'd give up (assuming it's just Iginla coming back our way) are King, Lewis, Nolan, Fraser, Ellerby, Richardson and Drewiske. I doubt that'd get it done, but I don't want the Kings gutting their team for a rental.

Simmonds?

I would give up Toffoli.

If we managed to extend Iginla for a couple years, it WOULD be something to demand thinking about.

I'd sooner make it around Bernier and stuff for Iginla and then grab Khabibulin rather than trade Toffoli, however.

Stoll - no, as much as we love to hate him he is to important. draws, PK, strong 3rd line presence.

King/Nolan/Lews - interchangeable parts, but only one is available not 2 of them together. losing 2 creates a very big hole on the bottom lines and PK. these guys are completely up to speed on LA's tactics, strategies and game speed. having to rely on a MAN replacement or a new player will cause lapses in this. the 3rd and 4th line players HAVE to be dialed in on each other, to control gap's and flow. without it those lines become are no longer an asset to the team.

Fraser - i wouldn't be a fan of losing at this point. he is dialed in at the #4 and does a very good job at what he does. yes DL can find guys like him all over, but it takes time to get plugged in and dialed in to a team. now is not the time to tinker with the #4 C.

the rest of the guys i would be comfortable with moving. the guys i point out though will merely create holes in the line-up and in the end not really solve anything. LA is deep down the middle. other teams are fighting to find a strong 1 & 2, not to mention get the results they want across all four centers. LA has this now, so why ruin a good thing? especially if it is for a 36-year old rental player

amart and a mid round pick. kings dont have problems scoring so there isn't much incentive to throw a lot at him.

Talk about short sighted. Give up a kid that is just starting for a rental that is on the back side of his career.
That sounds like the Kings of old not the Kings under DL.

Kings are trying to win NOW. This is their window.

Toffoli has shown that he's not going to be playing in the playoffs because he won't get dirty. It's the same reason why Gagne was benched and then traded.

I like Toffoli, but if LA can get Iginla for him, I think they should consider it.

My opinion.

You know how many teams in the league would overpay for Martinez?

We are lucky in LA to have had so many PMD come through the system, but most teams in the league have 1 at most, and would give up a ton for a young top 4 PMD

Giving him up for Iginla would be bad

He's still a kid and has much growing to do both in size and play. If we were just getting by maybe. But we have the 7th best record by percentage, are 6th in G/G and 8th GA/G. It's like swatting a fly with a cannon.
Once Toffoli gets some weight on him with his shot he's going to be good for years to come. He's only 187 right now at 20. He should get near the 210 mark I would think in a few years.

I know this is HF, where prospects are highly rated, but Iginla would be 10X more valuable in the playoffs this season than Toffoli.

I don't disagree with you about him filling out, but you have to give to get. TT is just not at that level right now.

I don't believe that DL would have to give up Toffoli to get Iginla. Unless some other team is willing to give up their best prospect, which I can't see happening.

The only person I want DL try to make a trade for at the right price is Nino Niederreiter, hopefully the isles will give up and move him.

i love amart but he's still on the kings bottom pairing, youre not gonna get iginla for free. if teams were so willing to overpay for amart i think he would have been dealt already. if greene and mitchell come back next year i could see amart as the odd man out.

I disagree. Toffoli should not be available for Iginla. Toffoli has only played 3 games and is a rookie. Few to none of our current core/star players were willing to get dirty and looked comfortable doing so in their first handful of games.

Brown looked terrible and out of place his first year. As he gets older, develops physically, and gets more comfortable and sturdy on his skates on NHL ice, we may have a very high end goal scorer on our hands. Trading him away for a couple months of Iginla just doesn't make sense.

We are in a win now mode, but that doesn't mean you throw anything to the wayside, not for a rental. Notice that only B prospects and under get moved for unsigned players, i.e. Hossa, Kovalchuk, etc... You don't move your best prospect for a rental.

That may be the case.

I think the bidding for Iginla will drive up his price and a top prospect like TT will be the cost if it comes to that.
