Rangers only sellers if they completely fall out of it . Can see Gab and others dealt in offseason when and if they fall short . Need either a real 1 C or a good 3 C and another D man
Gaborik + Thomas + 3rd
for Boyle + Hertl/Hamilton
?
What was St. Louis looking for in exchange for Shattenkirk?
Were they shopping him for a top six forward?
I don't see a reason to move Gaborik for an aging player. Why not move him for good young pieces?
Rumored to be Briere +
We should be looking to buy, not move Gaborik this season.
Like I've said, if hes dealt I am 99% sure it will be in the offseason. If at all.
You add another scoring forward as a rental to this team if they look ready for it.
Perry and Getz will either be re-signed or sold for a nominal fee at the deadline. I bet the Rangers would love Perry but after the Nash deal simply don't have the assets to bring him aboard.
If NYR are insistent on trading Gaborik, they should make a move for a 1st line winger at the deadline, play through the playoffs on a top lineup, then move Gaborik in the offseason for some of those assets back, plus a good cheap roster player.
Gaborik for Kronwall
Rumored to be Briere +
I don't buy that for a second. No way they ship out one of the best young offensive defenseman in the game for aging, fragile Briere. StL ain't trading Shattenkirk.
That's a joke right? I hope.
ROR required waivers to play in the NHL this season if he had been traded or had gone to Calgary in the offer sheet. He played in the KHL after the NHL season started. ROR is the on Avs reserve list he can play for them without clearing waivers. Zuccarello can sign with the Rangers without needing waivers. Reserve list. How did Newport allow ROR to play in the KHL after Jan.19? http://wap.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2013...tunate_colorado_avalanche_match_ryan_oreilly/
Lol, wow. So if Colorado doesn't match you think Calgary would have just sat him all year? What a horrid job by Newport and poor homework by Calgary.ROR required waivers to play in the NHL this season if he had been traded or had gone to Calgary in the offer sheet. A monster hitting top pairing defenceman. I doubt that the Wings would be willing to make that trade.
I would love to see Crosby, Malkin, Hartnell, Giroux, Kovy, Ovy, Tavares all get Kronwalled.

It would have been kind of funny to see a situation where Colorado gets compensated with draft picks then claimed O'Reilly from waivers.
Also, absolutely horrible by Sherman to not know that O'Reilly needed to clear waivers as he could have made it public knowledge and basically removed the threat of an offer sheet giving the Avs more leverage. What a strange situation.

Because if Sherman would have known about it as he should have it would have taken away the power of an offer sheet, drastically decreasing O'Reilly's leverage. Why is it a horrid job by Newport?
He would still be getting his 3+ million this year and 6.5 next season.
How is that a bad thing? Because he would have been Columbus 1st line center?
The Agents job in this situation was to get their client a deal for as much $$ as possible and who provided them that was not an issue.
Is Calgary in that much better a position than Columbus? NOPE.
In fact if I were a 22 year old kid, I would prefer to go to Columbus and grow with a core that they have been putting together than play with Calgary.
Because if Sherman would have known about it as he should have it would have taken away the power of an offer sheet, drastically decreasing O'Reilly's leverage.
Newport screwed up but were saved because Sherman also messed up.
Also, it removed any power O'Reilly had in choosing his destination as being put on waivers takes any power away from the player. O'Reilly may not have cared where he played but I'm sure he'd not have played more games in the KHL if he was aware that it would have taken away his ability to chose where he signed.
Newport screwed up and if Sherman was aware of the situation then the threat of an offer-sheet is gone. If Sherman would have done his homework then Calgary doesn't offer sheet O'Reilly knowing they give up picks for a player who won't clear waivers, and then O'Reilly doesn't get his monster contract.Incorrect.
If Ryan were traded the acquiring team would have been protected in the same way that Colorado was protected.
The only way this is an issue is because of the RFA signing by a team.
A trade carries the protection that the Av's enjoyed.
The fact that Calgary signed him is inconsequential.
Had Columbus offered him the same money he would have signed the offer-sheet.
This is not about location. This was a money grab. Controling where he played wasn't an issue.
To add, if this was really about location, then you do not sign an offer-sheet. You demand a trade and hold out until one is granted.
