McDonagh is 100% the guy IMO.

Agree, 100%. And yet Richards will likely get named, at least for remainder of this year.

Actually, my biggest fear about a MSL deal has been the effect it'll have on Richards' buyout. If his bud is here, and especially if they click, how does it affect a buyout that MUST happen IMO.
That contract is just a time bomb and this is their last chance to nullify it.

But McD's the man going forward. Unless - LOL - they decide on Girardi, which I could live with, and it'd be well-deserved.
Or Nash, who I dont think even wants it. But it'd be McD for me.

Certainly didn't keep him from being a captain while he was at Wisconsin. Love the stigma that you have to be a mouth in order to be a leader.

Exactly, love how people around here think they have this fly on the wall perspective of the locker room, and somehow know Mcdonagh isn't a leader because hes quiet in post game interviews.

Staal and Callahan for Salo and MSL and I will legit be outside MSG with a pitchfork

That's a horrible deal. Salo is in his late 30's, way too old to be an acceptable piece back for Staal who's 12 years younger.

Girardi is going to get signed. There's only a 500k/year difference between the two parties. Term seems to be the issue. I think Girardi signs if he gets the money. 5 years and 5.75 million a year I'm fine with. There's a huge gulf between Callahan and the Rangers. 6.8 is a hometown discount? Go play in the KHL.

Why stop there? BRB can bring the molotov cocktails. I'll supply a bag of rodents, or something of that nature. Get them where it really hurts. ;)

edit: and BRF can bring the torches!

Good team effort here guys.

Sami Salo still plays? I thought he was retired, the dude's injured so much.

haha yeah salo is ancient, guy's been around since the dinosaurs, will be like roman hamrlik part 2, in other words complete disaster

Let's talk about Hemsky

I haven't seen much dirt kicked up around here about Hemsky. He's a highly skilled forward with injury problems and playing very average. I wouldn't be opposed to aquring him at the deadline as a rental and extend the contract if he fits. He could be VERY strong on the 3rd line with Zucc and give us some depth moving into the playoffs if/when injuries mount.

The most attractive thing about Hemsky will be the price tag he comes with. The guy's value is an all time low and if we could get him for cheap, I would pull the trigger.

Rather than look at it by age, look at it by contract.

Salo and Cally are pending UFA, Rangers get MSL through next year, TBL get Staal. If the Rangers don't think the chances of re-signing Staal are good, this might be worth it to them for a getting MSL.

Rangers get the better forward, Tampa gets the better defensemen.

It's much more realistic than a 1 for 1 swap, but much less appetizing as a Rangers fan.

Staal and Callahan as rentals could bring back quite a few picks/prospects/younger roster players.

Meh. I like Hemsky but he hasn't been great the past few years. If we're going to add at the deadline, he's a guy I would definitely consider because, as you say, his value is at an all time low and it won't take much to add him. For a low price, I'd have no problem bringing him in and seeing how he does. Extending him, however, would be entirely dependent on how he plays here, how he fits, what his contract demands are and how much term there is. He's an injury risk and his best days are behind him. In all likelihood, I would not re-sign him and he'd be strictly a rental. I wouldn't bring him in with the mindset of intending to re-sign him from the get go. As a rental, he could be a good choice. I think he'll be had for a very low price, so I'd be behind it. He's got high skills and could add some offense if he fits. If the price is appropriately low the risk is equally low.

I would rather have Chris Stewart, and that's saying something

Stewart will be much more expensive than Hemsky though. I don't want to give up pieces of our future for a rental and if we do, I would want someone cheap whose a good bang for my buck kind of guy and Hemsky is that guy.

I wouldn't trade Staal for MSL. Staal is too important right now. Him and Stralman are playing lights out.
