He said it was 1 for 1 with the possibility of a conditional pick coming back.

The conditional pick could be a 4th, 3rd, 2nd (who knows) point is it doesn't have to be a 1st (while i'm sure Sather could also harcore push for one).

The extension would yield the pick, lack of an extension would exempt it. Seems pretty fair and straightforward.

Chances are, they decided on Callahan and the strategy well before the Olympics, and the consensus was that the current Rangers are too good (or almost too good) to remove Callahan and Girardi without anything but picks and prospects, so they decided an all-in approach to make 1-for-1 swaps to improve the teams chances at competing for a Cup.

Do I agree with it? Nope. This season IMO ended 10 games in. There are too many teams within striking distance to make the Rangers a 10th or 11th seed.

They need assets. They need a guy like Panik or Connolly or Spooner or Andrew Shaw who are cheap, contributors and could be repackaged for an even bigger deal.

MSL for two playoff runs? OK, and then what?

I was under the impression that they had an internal budget of somewhere around this year's current cap. So that next year they will still try to hover around where they are now. I might be confusing them with another team though.
 
Why hasn't either team come out to deny it? We're talking about two well liked Captains by each fanbase. We know this rumor reached all the way up to Canada (McKenzie, Kypreos).

Not really. Its a clear upgrade.

I think its extraordinarily short-sited, but hey, thats par for the course being a Ranger fan.

He might as well drive viewers to his show, but there's no reason to lose credibility and ruin his reputation for one show by making **** up.
 
There are lots of reasons why he might over-sell his story. Maybe he likes feeling like the prettiest girl at the dance when he has fans swooning over his info.

I guess the reasons why, are less important than the likely fact that he did.

Why? If Callahan re-signs that means TB really likes the player and wants him around long-term. 7 year commitment most likely. 7 years of a player they really like for 1.25 years of St Louis guaranteed. 38 years old.

"discuss this further for less than 10 minutes while my idiot co-host berates hockey, hockey fans, and me for liking it. Don't miss it!"

Surely a huge draw there for potential new fans.

Ten minutes on one show that almost never talks hockey while also poo pooing it. Is it worth his reputation?

Boomer might be wrong, there's a good chance of that, but it is not on purpose.

Im talking about how you are conveniently overlooking the fact the MSL requested a trade. Its been confirmed.

Now we've heard Boomer say he's confident in saying unless someone gets cold feet or someone lower their contract demands it will be completed.

Doesn't part of you see how this alludes to MSL having said I want to be traded to the rangers.

id love Shaw on this Rangers team.. add Marchand also and we can be a hated team, that is hard to play against. isnt that what Rangers management have said, they want the Rangers to be hard to play against especially on home ice. Rangers management needs to stop having scrub/ 4th liners have their game of their career at MSG. this is a big issue as well.. it hurts the momentum when some scrub like Mike Rupp (remember the hat trick) scores a goal.

Theres also no reason to think this is going to "ruin his reputation."

They talked about it. It hit a snag. Thats that. People will forget about it quite quickly.

The condition being we keep our 1st/2nd if he re-signs with the Lightning. I don't care what Boomer said, Cally for MSL straight up is a pipe dream. UFA 2nd liner for the reigning Art Ross winner? lolok.

Thats wonderful.

St. Louis requesting a trade and then Tampa making an awful trade to satisfy his demands is beyond a huge leap.

Don't do that. Don't devalue our players just to prove a point.

Captain of our team vs. Captain of their team.

One is better offensively. The other is better defensively.

Their roles are different but they're both very effective in them.

1 unhappy captain vs. 1 ungrateful one.

38 yr old vs 28 yr old.

It can be spun many different ways. Doesn't mean the trade isn't fair.

He's not a teenage girl. He won't ruin his reputation to feel important. This is ridiculous.
