You quoted a post directed to me. If you weren't talking to me, your intended target is still in the dark.

How does it "make absolutely no sense?". If they feel Nash is not living up to his contract, they move him for less money and less term and get a bigger point producer. Maybe he fits the system better. TB could view Nash as the bigger asset being that he is signed longer and they don't attract too many FAs as it is. Plus, marty asked for a trade. Boomer indicated TB was adding to the deal, making cally highly unlikely.

Now maybe it isn't a great move, maybe it isn't the rumor. But "makes absolutely no sense" is kind of strong. Off base?

It must be a deadline time. Condescending is in the forecast.

Did I directly quote you? No. Are you the only person that mentioned Nash? No. Did you make an assumption and get snippy? Yes.

Keep blaming me if you'd like, I did nothing to you.

Makes absolutely no sense is fitting if you ask me, considering Nash is performing quite well since joining the Rangers, and MSL only has one year left on his contract. So who is going to replace Nash's replacement after next season? Not only that but break down the Nash trade and ask yourself if trading those assets for a little over one full season of Nash and 1.5 seasons of MSL makes sense. It doesn't.

If the Rangers want MSL it's to put a run together, in which case you'd want to add talent not do a lateral move.

Finally Brooks mentioned that they had inquired about Callahan for MSL. Because, you know, that makes sense.

If you want to put the pieces together and speculate that's your right, but don't expect everyone to agree with you and don't make assumptions and call people high and mighty, I responded in kind so before you go calling everyone out and acting pretentious take a look in the mirror.

Oh come on. It was a post quoting me, like three posts above your condescending comment. Of course I'm going to take offense.

I don't need anyone to agree. I just like some common decency which is probably the most foolish thing I've posted on this site. You shot across my bow, intended or not. I responded in kind.

I've been studying non-stop since about 4 O'clock and I'm still going for an exam tomorrow so I don't really have time to read the entire thread.

Any updates? Still pointing towards St. Louis?

I posted this in the Trade&Rumor section. So take it with a grain of salt.

Cally for MSL? makes sense. I guess? If the Cally negotiations are going nowhere then moving him for a 38 yr old player (who can score this season, possibly next) works. MSL does fill a very short term need. In addition, what can the Rangers truly expect for a rental?

RE moving Nash? Works as long as someone on the Roster can truly lead the offense. As of now, the team is balanced but can go through scoring droughts rather easily. IMO: Moving Nash is a step backwards. Truly unlikely.

Obviously if someone guessed it Boomer would not be at liberty to say. So there is a curveball in there somewhere. Under that premise I think Cally is gone for Wheeler or Semin. The MSL thing just doesn't make sense.

I agree that a Nash / MSL trade makes more sense to me anyway.. But he did tweet at some point it was Callahan on the Rangers side.. Also that Nash wasn't involved...

Now one could speculate there are two separate deals in place, and for the sake of saving his sources confidentiality, has thrown out a few curve balls to keep the fire down until it gets out of control.. Possibly a Nash for MSL, and Callahan for?

Way I read it is cally is being traded. A ranger olympian is being traded for another Olympian and based on the "they're leaving healthy" tweet, we can assume they played in the final medal rounds. But I think we assume that cally is the Olympian referenced. It may be two separate moves.

I think the most logical thing is that boomer was operating on an old rumor, or the front office used him to generate interest in cally. The least logical thing is cally for msl +. In the middle is Nash for Marty.

Sather is a shark. He is always there when a player demands a trade. Blood in the water. We'll see soon enough.

Yes, but one would think it would be more going the other direction than just Callahan. .. No way we'd see MSL and a pick. If Boomer is right regarding the player plus a pick, doubt it's for MSL unless there's more to it.. But, just my opinion.... :)

Take out nash's scoring run prior to the Olympics and he is underperforming. Sather may be trading an asset while his value is up. Many, many posters were unhappy 6 weeks ago, maybe less. I get the contract lengths of Nash vs msl but we have some contracts coming up ourselves. I'm not a gm or a cap guy so I may be way off. MSL + for cally doesn't pass the smell test though.

Nash is the one guy on the team who can be relied upon to put the puck in the net on a routine basis and people want to trade him. Unreal. We need to add goals, not trade our 1 goal scorer for another.

To play with Stamkos for the next 10 years in sunny Tampa. why not?

Good thing Stamkos went through his contract process in a way that he'll be able to reach unrestricted free agency in the soonest possible way.
