This isn't a franchise gutting move. We aren't trading Messier and Leetch. These players haven't won anything as Rangers, they aren't immortalized heroes. Fan backlash would only be sort of acceptable if this was Lundqvist, who is a generational talent. Fans can live without a grinder and an above average RHD.

The Rangers will not be a better team after trading Girardi and Callahan, especially this season.

They aren't getting Seguin in return.
 
I literally can't fathom the notion of getting Martin St. Louis, for Ryan Callahan. A hall of famer, two time art ross winner for a grinder UFA to be.

I'm very adamant about this happening.

I refuse to believe Callahan will be any sort of crippling loss.

Girardi will be rough to replace, but it can happen.

If they aren't resigning for Sather's terms, they should be traded, and that's it in my opinion.
 
It wouldn't surprise me if Hagelin garnered some interest around the league from his Olympic play, I could see some inquiries being made about his availability. However just because another team is interested doesn't mean the Rangers are trading.
 
Brooks reported TB wants more than Callahan. They want young pros,prospects and picks. Kyper tweeted Yzerman won't trade the player for a rental. Boomer can say whatever he wants. He had the story but played games with it. Brooks and Kypreos report the story Boomer played the twitter games with. It won't be one for one with the Rangers possibly getting the conditional pick. The Rangers will need to add much more. That's ridiculous.

Hey man, we may get knocked down, but we have the ability to get back up. Hopefully its a blessing in disguise that it came up when it did and you have it taken care of and now the recovery will help you become even healthier and then you can build on it with a good diet for the next 6 months.

Im sure it's not your normal diet, but being on a liquid diet and juice will build you back up again nutriently, like balance your body, a few months from now you'll probably feel the best you ever have energy-wise etc. I wish you all the best through the process. Health processes suck, but years after when your feeling yourself again, you realize how you glad you are you took care of things.


I met Sully up at Traverse City, really nice guy, he treated me like a person and not a fan. I have a lot of respect for him bc of that. He was put in a tough position when Torts snapped again.

This is how I feel. I'm not familiar with Boomer aside from commercials when I watch the Rangers but it feels like he's playing games. This trade makes no sense to me.

Who said "crippling loss", well except you?

Whatever package they get will not make them better this season. The chances of any prospects/picks developing into one of the best defensive dmen and/or the best two-way forwards in the game, or even better, are slim.

They have to be moved. Doesnt mean the Rangers will be better off on the ice because of it.

Rangers must get a 1st rounder in each deal. The cupboard is bare.
 
Even at 38, St. Louis is one of the better players in this league. He's not showing any signs of slowing down. He'll be a good player for at least another 2-3 years in this league.

Unhappy or not, no GM is going to trade a top player in the league for a UFA to be. Even if Sather trades Callahan on a sign and trade basis, I still don't think that it's enough. Think about it people.
 
When did Boomer & Carton get bumped to CBSN? I watched them on MSG recently. CBSN is an extra sports package on FIOS I don't have.
