If we take Boomer at face value, the only other thing those of us who are anti-MSL can hope is that now that the Olympics are over, and the injuries to various players have/have not occurred, other GMs will begin upping their offers.

There may well be an offer on the table that Slats was prepared to take as of yesterday, but that better offers are coming in now. (I hope.)

We said Jagr and Whitney were washed up too. MSL will always perform.

The question is, why the hell would Tampa trade their franchise for a two month rental and Stamkos coming off a very serious injury?

MSL is not coming here. Stupid rumor.

MSL has shown no indication that he can't play to 41-42-43 years of age. He wouldn't score as much here as with Stamkos, but he is a fitness freak, which is usually associated with long careers.

BINGO !!

every once in a while, a player emerges and defys the regression of old age. MSL seems to be that guy. MSL for one more year and maybe a 2 year contract after that, is worth a shot in my opinion.

See ya' Cally......thanks for everything......seriously, thanks for everything.

But you sure as sheet ain't worth 6.5-7 million dollars.

Don't let the door hit ya' where the good lord split ya.

Peaches and herb could be dubi and cally. Would mean someone from Columbus.

FullTilt Rangers ‏@NYR_FullTilt 14h
@7BOOMERESIASON it's Columbus isn't it?

Vinny Del ‏@madsportsnyc 14h
@NYR_FullTilt @7BOOMERESIASON dubinsky back

Boomer Esiason ‏@7BOOMERESIASON 14h
@madsportsnyc @NYR_FullTilt no

FWIW, had to dig it up.

Someone mentioned Loui Eriksson on the trade boards and that it would be a reunion with Richards.

Food for thought.

Eriksson hasn't been the same lately though.

What is all this stuff about something Boomer said? At work, cant look through everything to find it...

This ongoing speculation game is pretty hilarious. I dunno if Boomer really has something or not but the 20 questions via twitter is funny

Agreed its wishful thinking but to play Devils Advocate, possibly he wants to try and go for a run in NY. If you win a Cup in NY you are 100% legendary. He gets a shot to go after it again with Richards. Provides the offense we need. Its not that far out of the realm. Plus he's closer to home where Im sure much of his family resides. Finishes out his years close to home and playing in NY (which is a large attraction, especially for those on the back of their careers).

His chances for a Cup in Tampa are likely higher than with NYR as of right now, and pretty much definitely in the near-future, so I don't see how he would go to NY for a shot at a cup. There are much more obvious choices of teams to go to, who would pay a higher price, if that were the case.

And, if St. Louis did want to go to New York, and New York knew about it, it would've been leaked. If anything, St. Louis probably wants to ride out his later years with his new BFF, a 60 goal scorer by the name of Steven Stamkos, who'll ensure him a near PPG average until the day he retires. And within a couple of years Tampa looks like they'll be legit contenders.

There's been no indication, from Tampa's side, that MSL wants out.

Didn't Boomer also mention something about grit? That's not exactly MSL's M.O. I feel like there's a whole lot of jamming half-information together to make a theory fit here.

Fair points, I was simply spitballing ideas as a Devils Advocate. I guess we'll know after today whats going on. Just judging by the information garnered so far, MSL is the one being spoken about, IMO.

Logic is not allowed on this forum, please stop posting. :D

1) Who is Boomers primary source?
2) how credible has he been in the past?
3) who has the best track record speculating Sathers trades?
4) who else is reporting the specifics Boomer is?

Again, it doesn't take Tampa's side into consideration at all. And Boomer's "clues" are so vague that they can mean a lot of players other than MSL. From Tampa alone, they could mean Teddy Purcell as easily as they could mean Marty St. Louis.

When he says "scoring upgrade" I think it's kind of a stretch to immediately think "scoring champion."

Loui Eriksson = FUBAR

I feel for the guy, but IMO he's one of those guys who never comes back to form after the hit he took.
