LORDE
I am Lorde, YA YA YA
And if we trade Cally for a mediocre prospect and a 28-30 overall pick we will get what exactly? Enlighten us!
Like... more than we get when he walks for nothing.
You have been enlightened.
Thank you, come again.

I was not saying go all in and do whatever it takes. I was saying buy low, shop smart.
Too many overreact when it comes to the term "buyers." Jussi Jokinen has been a steal for Pittsburgh. If there is a viable deal then I dont see why the rangers shouldnt add depth. Especially if we deal Callahan, which Ive been an advocate of.

Had you said "we should look for Jussi Jokinen type pickups" (i.e. young, cheap, low-risk/high-reward guys who can contribute in the future) you would have gotten a different response.
But you didn't. You advocated going for 42-year-old, nostalgic retread Jagr. He would be the very definition of a short-term, PO run rental, a classic example of sell future assets for a one-time "hope he can gear it up for one more" guy who would be gone in June. That's why you got the response you did.
Because gee i didnt think we were acquiring the 32 year old Jagr. I thought it wasnt crazy to look at Jagr who cost Boston a conditional 2nd round pick and two low grade prospects. I know its not ok for people like you to allow the team to make any moves that may allow the team to make any sort of a playoff run because you already know pittsburgh or boston are winning the ECF and going to the cup. Why even bother watching. Its not like we have a bubble team here at the moment....and thats because they have played far from the caliber a bubble team the last month and a half, regardless of who they have played.
I know we just cant possibly sacrifice the Ryan Bourque's and Andrew Yogan's of the world, or any prospect for that matter in this organization.
Christ what "assets" are we giving up for a 42 year old forward? What did Boston give up. Being a little ridiculous to consider C-grade prospects "assets" so you compete. Its not like expecting a 11th seed team to make a trade just to squeak into the playoffs.I still watch hoping the Rangers make smart long-term moves around the Callahan and Girardi situations...and I pray they don't make stupid knee-jerk moves like going after Jagr because Zuccarello might be hurt.
The Rangers have done it your way for decades - throwing assets away on the "anything can happen in the playoffs" philosophy. Hows it worked out?

And regardless of who it would be or what would be done, not every prospect can make the team. Not every one of kristo, fast, lindberg, and miller can make the team. Some will have to go. People complained we held onto Del Zotto too long....we do the same thing with these "prospects"
Yup. Wonderful way to look at the flushing draft picks.
Because, after all, when I buy 7 lottery tickets, I always throw away 1 for good luck.
Being a little damn dramatic there. Comparing this situation to lottery picks BRB, thats absolutely irrelevant.
Because 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks are guarantees? Like our 1st round picks were?
Exactly. Dont know why you're limiting the # of picks to try to get a good player in favor of a 42 year old Jagr for a playoff run.
Because sacrificing a mid round pick is not going to sink or swim an organization. Sorry, I just do not agree. You're not finding sidney crosby in the 3rd round. So for a playoff run, I see the value. I know you wont agree and thats fine.
Does not have to be Jagr. But also does not have to be someone who is signed through next year. And going out of your way to acquire an ancient Jagr is????

The Rangers are a 2-3 game losing streak from being knocked out of a playoff spot and they are 3rd or 4th best team in the east? The Rangers have a lousy record against teams above .500. The Rangers had their opportunity to put points in the bank for a rainy day but they went a combined 9-9-3 in two recent long home stands. Let's see how Lundqvist comes out of Sochi. The Rangers tanked in 2006 after the Olympics. They missed the playoffs in 2010.

Anyone think Boyle could fetch a late 1st? Probably wishful thinking... A 2nd for sure though.
Neither.
I think Boyle at this stage is basically Gaustad without the TOFFNUSS. Right or wrong (wrong, definitely wrong), GMs will pay for toughness. How else could you explain Douglas Murray going for two seconds?b..b..but, Paul Gaustad.
Are you talking about trading Zuccarello? If Zuc is out 2-3 weeks to get his hand 100%, as a short term rental who might resign with us anyway for the right $$, does it makes sense to trade him?
Teams thin/desperate will take chance he returns to hot form after coupla wks, and we would be better off long term with a 1st for him. Even a late 1st.
