Not sure the Rangers have what it would take to get Dubinksy. He's a pretty important part of the fabric of the BJs.

Fast and a 3rd doesn't even warrant a response from them. Nowhere near enough.

From what I've read, Fast is highly touted. Is that not the case? What do you think it would take?

I don't think the Rangers have the pieces they would want (especially with all the draft picks they've dealt). Miller+ as a starting point. Or maybe Staal. Not saying that's what I would offer, but the BJs would be looking for that kind of return.

I don't think the Jackets are looking to deal him. They would need to bowled over. I'm not even sure the offers I thew out there would get it done from their POV.

With raises due to our UFA's, we can't afford another player over 4 million, even with a Richards buyout. Miller is going to be an NHL middle six center next season on our team just because of his low cap hit. Can Kristo shift to LW and replace Pouliot's minutes?

I like Dorsett, but I think he gets traded for a pick and Fast takes his place. Carcillo should be brought back as a 13th forward. Bring Boyle and Moore back. The team will be fine.

Totally agree that Dorsett needs to be moved to retain Moore and Boyle... and I think Fast can play on that line no problem. Would be like having a RH Hagelin on that line, allowing Boyle to play 3rd man high and rotating in on the cycle. But my gut tells me that Boyle will get a sizable contract as UFA, and one the Rangers can't match.

The more I watch Pouliot in the post season, the more I think back to his start. 40 good games doesn't equate to a great season, but he has played a sold second half of the regular season. In the playoffs however, I think he's been more liability than consistent, and I would be okay with him walking, but is chemistry worth risking?

The Rangers would need a skilled possession player on that line with Brass and Zucc. Kristo was coached defense for the 1st time in his career it seems like from what I saw in the AHL... the Rangers need a skilled possession player on that line... is it Hags? Duclair? Lindberg? I don't know, it will either be Pouliot or a bargain UFA pick up for that line IMO.

Full. No. Move. Clause.

Can we please name every Trade Speculation thread that?

I'm confused (happens easily at my age); Nash waived his ntc to come to NY; once waived I thought the clause was null/void. Anyway its only a clause and its easily removed, just offer $$$. Nash will go wherever if that team adds a couple of years to his contract. It shouldn't be unsurmountable

I'm no expert but I believe you are correct but from what I gather it is typical for the new team to honor the nmc.

I just remember from our Heatley drama that he waived the nmc for sj but it was null and void when he was traded to Minny.

I just remember from our Heatley drama that he waived the nmc for sj but it was null and void when he was traded to Minny.

That was because for SJ to accept the Heatley deal, they asked Dany to waive the rights to his NTC. This is the only situation that it happened, all other times when a player had a full NMC or NTC it went with the players, and if they were to be traded, it was asked to be waived.

For Heatley, it was asked because it was the 2nd time he asked to be traded (1st in Atlanta). Also there were some hushed rumblings of some managerial troubles at the time in Ottawa with Muckler, Murray, Melnyk and Mlaker (former Pres) that lead to the Heatley trade demand.

It will be one of those things that comes out years after Heatley retires from the sounds of it. I was always curious, but never knew why he demanded a trade.

I can't speak to the specifics of NHL SPCs, but when one party grants a waiver regarding a clause in a contract, it generally doesn't mean that the clause has been eliminated; it simply means, "I'm waiving my rights in this one instance". You see it in regards to the debt covenants in corporate credit facilities all the time (in exchange for a fee, of course).

The lawyers on the board will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that permanently eliminating a contractual right like a NMC would require an amendment, not a waiver.

Let Stralman walk and move Klein up with Staal. McIlrath/Falk on 3rd pairing. Let Pouliot walk and move Miller to his spot on the 3rd line. Let Dorsett go and replace him with Lindberg. Buyout Richards. Not sure where that would put us after resigning but it would be nice to get a 2c.

Kreider Stepan St Louis
Hagelin XXXX Nash
Miller Brassard Zuccarello
Boyle Moore Lindberg
Carcillo

McDonagh Girardi
Staal Klein
Moore McIlrath

Lundqvist
Talbot

Our great 4th and 3rd line have been the difference and I would love to keep it in tact. But you need a formidable 2nd line as well.

This board is too much. Staal is probably our best defender for the first two rounds of the postseason. Everyone thinks he's going to be our captain and is our best defensive defenseman.

Has a bad series, then it's "I'd rather keep Stralman".

They are not mutually exclusive. I'll keep our future captain, thanks.

I'm with you on this one.
However, it will take cap $$.

Thus my proposal to move multiple medium high guys for two top picks.
Creates all the cap we need for Staal, boyle, etc.

and, if percentages are to be believed, can hope for Ekblad to improve on Girardi, and Drasaiti to eventually give us a beast to better match elites who presently dominate us, guys like Getzlaf on Ana.

Anyone who wants to take my post to task, fine, it is a free country.

But do it on merits. On solid objective analysis, and not just ad hominum opinion.
Which you are entitled to have.
But which being subjective would be enhanced by an objective statement.

And, after that, please explain what hard choices you would undertake to have your cake and eat it too.

Picked this up off the Jets board.

Looks like Burmistrov's staying in the KHL next season. I'm not interested in him myself, but I know some people on here were.

Hmmnn.
I'm not sure I do this yet, but if Jets paid high enough in draft pick(s) for J.Moore and threw in rights to Burmi, that might make sense.

We have Connor Allen for third pair if we need, even though he plays RD,he is lefty.

I'm sure Nash would waive to go play with his buddy Joe in San Jose.

Man I surely hope so. San Jose is supposedly looking to mix things up a bit, so its at least possible. And if it was, it might mean Marlow in return. Would like like to retrieve a 1st rounder or 2 if possible. Bernmeister has the right idea but needs to trade less guys at a time.

How about we try our hardest to keep Strålman?

I ran the numbers on GF% as well (basically +/-) and he is ahead of Girardi in every bracket, and ahead of Staal in all but one (49-51).

Here is how he stacks up against some of the top D in the league:

Bringing Stralman back is a no brainer. Plays well with Staal to form an excellent shut down pairing. Best case scenario is that he keep playing well and is a steal for anything under 4 million. Worst case is he's mediocre and we flip him off to a team desperate for a RHD for an asset and move Klein up.

Marian Gaborik: Make him a reasonable offer come July 1st ?

I didn't see this talked about anywhere, but prior to his explosive playoff run, i was thinking that the Rangers should try to re-acquire the services of Marian Gaborik. Perhaps a 3-4 year deal at something reasonable ( something near $5 million per ).

Thoughts?

( However, after seeing his playoff performance, something tells me his stock has risen to the point where some team will probably overpay......6m+ or so. To me, thats too high ).

The reports are that we banged on his door with a messenger boy until he signed the NTC waiver.

Not thinking the reunion is going to surface. We did pretty ****** by the guy who scored 100+ goals for us in 3 years. A whole lot of young fanboys screaming "Yeah Nash sticks his ass out at the defender! Flair!"

I think it's more likely the team makes an offseason pitch for Rozsival so that he can pair with McIlrath next season.

I think this offseason is all about who gets bought out because teams will be looking long term because it's the last yr to use the compliance buyouts. With tht being said who do think is has a chance of being bought out around the league?
