I like Byfuglien and am very critical of Kreider, but there is no way I make that deal. Kreider could be a factor on the Rangers for a long time. How many years does Buff have of useful hockey left with the way he plays and his fitness issues?

Kreider isn't going to be traded unless there is severe overpayment coming our way. His potential is too great. He's 22 and has shown flashes of being able to dominate games.

Stralman is underrated because he constantly gets pieced off as a spare part or a redundant asset because the Rangers also have Kevin Klein, who is not nearly as good as Stralman, but is lauded as an interchangeable part.

That's where the Klein 'hatred' sterns from. He's not nearly as good as Stralman, but gets treated as if he is.

Stralman's been playing shutdown caliber minutes for a while now. He doesn't have the prototypical NA cliche of a gritty tough defender, but solidly gets the job done at a high level.

Bringing in Klein has given us a very good third pairing. Instead of having a disaster waiting to happen third pairing.

Stralman has not very often got the assignments to shut down the league's best players. Those assignments have almost always in the last two-three years gone to McDonagh and Girardi. A shut down defenseman shuts down the other teams best players night after night. When a defense pair can keep the likes of Ovechkin, Malkin, Tavares, Crosby, Giroux etc. from being major factors in games played against for lengthy stretches of time then you know you have a shutdown d-man. The Rangers have 3 defensemen worthy of being called that when 100 % healthy--McDonagh, Staal, Girardi. Some teams don't have any. Stralman and Klein are both very good defenders but neither of them are on that level.

He could become Pacioretty and we do lack goal scorers, but we lack offence from our back end even more and I think Byfuglien is at worst a top-5 offensive defenceman in the league.

What if Kreider just turns out to be a 20-25 goal complimentary winger? Byfuglien is proven AND currently undervalued.

But sure, if they'd go for Hagelin that'd be great. I just don't think they would.

Buff is awful defensively. Why do you think they had him playing wing at the end of the year? By far the worst +/- on his team.

If Kreider is a 20-25 goal scorer, that's just fine, because he's also a pretty smart kid. He can contribute with his passing as well as his shooting. He's big and fast. His size and speed are assets whether he is scoring or not.

But he has the potential to be more, and we can't really say that about any of our other kids. You don't trade that for a dman who can't play defense, never mind adding.

It is this.

Klein makes $2.9M for another four years. That's a steal of a contract. I really like Stralman, and he has played very well here, but I just think there's room to upgrade on offensive contributions from the blueline, and that the most realistic player to upgrade on would be Stralman. Our bottom-pairing is pretty well set for awhile, as is our top pairing.

I feel as though re-signing Stralman could signal Staal potentially being moved - and I'd MUCH rather keep Staal, and give him an offensive guy to work with, than vice versa.

I don't necessary like Girardi and Klein as a 1-2 RD pair though...

Buff shot would help the PP, but I don't like that he isn't smart with the puck...

What is our game about nowadays??? Puck management. Do we want to take on a big contract and give up a lot of assets, to get someone who isn't good in that area?

Once again this management wouldn't trade Kreider in a deal for Nash while he hadn't broke into the league so why would they send him to Winnipeg with other young players for Buff. Yes I know he's got a shot but it's not a smart trade, at all.

Personally I like the idea of bringing back Stralman--the questions are what Anton will want to stay? and how much can we afford? Right now--I think Staal and Stralman make a very good pair and having Klein gives us a very good third pair. Losing one of them quite possibly will mean we'll have issues with the third pair again next year. Perhaps I'm spoiled but DZ and Moore together was a train wreck always waiting to happen. DZ IMO was the right guy to lose--too expensive a player to be fooling around with considering his upcoming qualifying offer and his arbitration eligibility. He was scratched in a few Preds games towards the end so all in all he had a pretty **** year.

In the end, I would probably only consider trading Kreids in a deal for players that nobody would give up for him. I mean, for te other team it's not like we are dangling McKinnon.

But like sure, if say a Brodin came available, I'd deal Kreider. One of those young centers. The elite younger Ds. And so forth.

Also, to put it like this.

We are what we are at this point. We are not making drastic changes this summer to compete in the coming two years. We are a good team that might or might not have it, realistically it's probably the later. A new player or two is basically what we can afford, we have made enough changes already.

And let their be no uncertainty about this, best case scanario is that we can show that we are a contender with THIS team and get to the Conference Finals. So that we can keep BR and keep going for it full throatle the coming 3 years.

No doubt.

I kind of view Kreider as our 1st line LW to be. Size, speed, skill, physical play, a bit of agitation. He took a leap forward this year and if he takes another leap he's going to be seriously good. I think there's a very good chance that that's going to happen. He doesn't cost much and he's not going to be a UFA for a while. No way I'd trade him for Bufyglien. Don't think I'd trade him for Evander Kane either but that would be a lot closer.

As far as Burmistrov--what the hell has he actually done? I'm not sure why some people think so much of him.

Yep that's true, for me it would be it a player in similar age and talent wise if not a bit higher rated as the piece back for Chris before I'd even consider to move him. But as our fellow country men suggested it would be great to move him for Buff? Nah that's silly.

I like the idea of adding Big Buff. But not at the expense of Krieder and not to come in and play D

Buff plays LW...end of story. A shooter with a huge frame and a desire to drive to the net.

Would be nice, but they would want more than I would be willing to part with.

I like Hagelin, but he's one of the guys I'd consider including for Big Buff.
Or you could include Klein for Buff and re-sign Stralman.

What is this obsession with Byfuglien? We don't need him! Our defense is solid the way it is. Just keep the current 7 men we have, move Falk and be done with it.

Personally the state our organization is in--it's a non-starter trading younger players of value for older players. I'd like Bufyglien too but it would almost have to be a gift.

This particular of deal of 3 first rounders--Kreider, Miller and McIlrath for an older questionably conditioned player Bufylgien who'd I rather not play on defense and for another 1st rounder --Burmistrov who hasn't done very much either and is small with questionable compete could easily turn out to be as bad for us as Higgins, McDonagh etc. for Gomez was for the Canadiens.

He's big and black. Some posters on this board want us to play football out on the ice. Did Boston a lot of good last night.

Trade Kreider, Miller, and McI for Byfuglien and Burmistrov.

Nash-Stepan-St. Louis
Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello
Hagelin-Burmistrov-Fast
Boyle-Moore-Dorsett

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Byfuglien
Moore/Diaz-Klein

Lundqvist
Talbot

So trade our top 3 prospects for a defenseman who can't play defense and a guy who just bolted for the KHL? Yea no thanks

Byfuglien fits a huge need, a right-handed shot that can just bomb it from the powerplay.

That said, I don't touch that trade proposal.
