That Stempniak trade could end up just as good as the Kunitz trade was for Pittsburgh. Both players were acquired at age 30.

HOW DID SATHER LET JAM WALK!?!?! :sarcasm:

well Rangers are building a soft midget team so he would fit... lack of toughness and grit will hurt this team..

some fans think goal scoring and skill helps win in the playoffs while it does, taking the body and wearing down the other team is part of that too.. i guess Sather is still stuck in 1960s version of NHL hockey :sarcasm: i love to see Stepan or McDonagh get nailed and no one does anything, oh wait that happens to this team already.. :help: i think the freaking Habs are tougher than the Rangers

Thinking about it... I have to give credit to Girardii and his agent. Dan wanted to stay in NYC and negotiated a deal. He might have even taken a home town discount?
They understood Sather's mindset and made the deal.

I think the backup plan was to get futures in now and kick the tires on St. Louis in the summer, not to resign Callahan. The rental market looked real bad - look at the Vanek deal, it was awful. I doubt the Sharks put Nieto in play.

My regret for this deadline is the lack of top 6 LWer. Looking at the rate players were going for, I think Cammalleri, Penner could've been easily obtained w/ retained salary for late-mid round picks.

i was kind of hoping Rangers were in on Stempniak... im even more pissed he went to the Penguins.

Stempniak could replaces Callahan's hustle and grit.. oh well.. i liking what the Rangers did without giving up top prospects, although the lack of grit and size is a big a concerning. at least they got more skill this deadline.

So you realize Nash could move to lw and zuc slides up then hagelin gets 3rd line minutes right?

Won't happen since brassard and zuc click

St. Louis is a top 3 winger. Everyone complained Cally was a 3rd liner

Nash cant play LW

Every trade could wind up like that for them thanks to their top 2 centers.

Stempniak would come here and stink.

So easy for you to say it on a message board. So much more difficult in reality on the ice.

See: beginning of last season

You realize you can say that about anyone you plug in next to Crosby, right?

I feel like I'm watching the Captain Obvious commercial I watched on TSN today.

Stempniak would probably come here and look exactly how he's always looked... 15-20 goals. It's a good move for Pittsburgh to try to find those guys who have talent, but really need a lot of help to excel. Kunitz was that kind of player and has been a great pickup for them. Stempniak could be the same. That's all I'm saying. Chris Stewart would probably be amazing on that team.

Then again, he might not click with either center and wind up being exactly who he's been... which improves the Penguins anyway.

Everyone thought Iginla and Crosby were perfect, turns out Iggy plays better with Krejci.

He hasn't for the past 3 years, so it's irrelevant. Hence my suggestion to trade for a LWer.

Fact: Nash can play LW. Dispute it all you want. You're wrong. He's better on the Right. And we do have MZA and MSL, compared to Kreider-Hagelin-Poo on the left. I would suggest the same thing. But I wouldn't say something foolish like Nash can't play LW when he has.

Accept it and move on.
