Loungo will be $ in Fla with no pressure.

I don't get it. Everyone is like, "Roberto, how does it feel to be away from all the drama in Vancouve?" The Panthers ****in blow, I don't see how Florida is a good place to be unless he only cares about collecting a check.

He loves florida. His wife is from Florida. Vancouver blamed him for everything. Torts started Lack in the HC.

It was really ****** for Lu in Vancouver.

Well, that's called playing in a big market. Florida blows, I could buy a cheaper ticket to a Panther game than I could a hot dog at MSG. Roberto is just going to sit back and collect a paycheck, no one goes to Florida to win.

Did he have any say in where he went?

And Florida has some good players. They're still at the very beginning of a real rebuild, but they've got good assets.

Yea, he wanted to go there which is fine. He likes Florida, his wife is from there, whatever. I just don't see how everyone is collectively congratulating him and sucking him off when it's clear he's there to collect a paycheck.

Jeezus Snow is terrible.

If MTL misses the playoffs, which is certainly possible, especially with Price injured for now the Islanders basically traded:

Moulson, 1st, 2nd for Collberg.

Or, factoring in today's Moulson deal:

The Islanders get 47 games of Vanek, Collberg, a conditional 2nd if MTL makes the playoffs.

The Sabres get 47 games of Moulson, NYI 2014/15 1st, NYI 2014 2nd, WPG 2014 2nd, MIN 2016 2nd, Torrey Mitchell.

Two trades today:

Vanek for Collberg, cond. 2nd (nothing if MTL misses playoffs)
Legwand for Jarnkrok, Eaves, cond. 3rd (2nd if DET makes playoffs)

Legwand >> Vanek apparently.

Could be:

Vanek for Collberg
Legwand for Jarnkrok, Eaves, 2nd

If Detroit makes it and Montreal doesn't. Amazing.

Do we have confirmation that the Rangers are done?

Or is there still the possibility of a minor move in the next 30-60 min?

I think it's pretty safe to assume that they're done. In the past the trade calls have been backed up an hour or so, but we're pushing 90 minutes now with nothing announced since 3:45 or something aside from Stempniak to Pittsburgh.

What will the roster look like next year?

What to do with Brassard, Hagelin, Poo, Boyle, Moore, Carcillo, Richards?

I think it was 1994 when the Rangers made all those deadline deals for the cup that we did not here about it until 5:30 or so. Granted there was not internet and twitter, etc.

Keep Brassard and Hagelin for sure. The others are tougher.

Who plays where?

We now have 3 RW's locked in:

Nash, MSL, Zucc

We have 1 C locked in:

Stepan

We have 2 LW's locked in:

Kreider
Hagelin

We have:

2 RW's that can potentially make a difference as soon as next year: Fast, Kristo (in that order).

2 C's that can potentially make a difference as soon as next year: Miller, Lindberg (in that order).

We will also require a higher end center than Miller and Brassard. I'll be willing to be a lot of money that that center will be Stastny.

If we keep Hagelin, he should be with Stepan and Nash. That line, as a whole, had good chemistry. Hags will come back stronger and will have more chemistry with whoever his linemates are.

Kreider-Stastny-MSL... that's fast. Stastny has good vision on the ice to feed the wingers. MSL has even better vision. Kreider has above average vision. That line has the makings to be unreal. I'll hate Stastny's contract but win-now mode. I highly doubt Sather will pass up the opportunity to cut the older and less productive Richards for someone who is younger and will cost roughly the same.

That leaves the bottom 6.

Miller will be the center. Zucc the RW. Brassard the LW? That makes sense to me.

And 4th line? I think Lindberg can be a more effective version of Moore... but is he physical? Is he gritty? I think you resign Boyle at a comparable contract to his one now. I think you allow Lindberg to assume Moore's role. I think you need to sign or trade for someone who's a tough as nails, forechecker, who can stand up for his team mates as the last player to that 4th line. Someone like a Curtis Glencross. Doesn't have to be him.

As for the defense:

Either you don't resign Stralman or you trade Klein.

McIlrath needs to be part of the fold for next year. The team's grit is pathetic. We just took steps in improving our offense. Now we need to get slightly bigger and tougher.

snows mishandling of moulson/vanek this year is legendary. that is one of the worst handling of assets ive ever seen in sports. if the habs make the playoffs, which is the best case scenario, the isles swap picks to trade down in the 2nd and give up a 1st and solid roster player for a undersized winger that has put up 18 points in 123 games as a professional in the SHL/AHL.

Remove Moulson and Vanek and it's:

Collberg, MTL cond. 2nd

Vs

NYI 2014/15 1st, NYI 2014 2nd, WPG 2014 2nd, MIN 2016 2nd.

Left off Mitchell because Buffalo also gave McCormick in that deal.

If MTL doesn't make the playoffs it becomes:

Collberg

Vs

NYI 2014/15 1st, NYI 2014 2nd, WPG 2014 2nd, MIN 2016 2nd.

Let that sink in. If MTL misses the playoffs, both teams will have each traded Moulson and Vanek once this season and the results are Collberg vs a likely top 10 pick and three 2nds.
