Who doesn't put us over the top, plays a position where we don't need help and has a shelf life of, what, 2-3 years? Brilliant.

I really wonder how many of the folks who are rabid to get MSL have been fans for more than 10 years...

If the Rangers trade a huge package including a 1st for a 38 y/o MSL Sather can get ****ed with a cactus.

Dont be shocked to see Hagelin go with those picks for MSL.

And while I like Hags, that'd be a very reasonable price.

“It’s time for Marty to put on some big boy pants and I think he is being a baby. Unless I can get Chris Kreider or JT MIller in the deal I wouldn’t do it.” (Ray Ferraro on TSN)

Ignoring the obvious metaphor :sarcasm: yes, what do you consider a huge package? Carl Hagelin? Danny Kristo? I dont think of that as a huge gamble for an elite scorer.

Haha well played. Good morning.

Any of these assets going the other way: MZA, Hagelin, Miller, Fast, Skjei, McIlrath, Lindberg, 1st round pick =break out the cactus.

MSL plays a position the Rangers are strong at. While he has been productive, past performance is not indicative of future results. He is 38. He has a risk of deteriorating at any time.

And he does not help to alter the mix of this team. They don't match up with the teams that are big & skilled that they will need to beat to be a Cup contender. This is less a knock on Marty (he is a PO performer) and more a knock on what the Rangers are choosing to spend assets on.

You want to trade Cally, Kristo, and a 2nd? Fine.

That's awful. Get him without giving up Hags.

You're not going to get anyone without offering fair value.

The reason Pierre said he'd ask for Kreider, McDonagh, or Skjei is because he doesn't have to trade MSL and he is only dealing with one team. Which really kind of screws him, but he can be as stubborn and demanding as he wants. He has nothing to lose.
