Except if you look at most of the successful teams in the league year in and year out, they ARE mostly homegrown. Just because Ranger management is bad at it doesn't mean it's not a good argument.

I agree with this, but they are also built because they went through years and years of being lottery pick teams like pittsburgh, chicago, and st louis. Or trading you assets like Phil Kessel, Jeff Carter.

"Significant picks" makes it sound like a 1st this year and a 1st next year. We can recoup those picks, which will most likely be late picks in the first round anyway.

If the only roster player we're losing is Callahan, I love this

I got it we'll forgo drafting in the first round for several years in a row, we'll keep Richards and we'll add in the likely 6th or 7th oldest player in the league for two playoffs before he retires.
