There's no guarantee prospects are going to develop into good or great players. But I will personally guarantee investing numerous assets on a player pushing 40 won't be the difference maker we're hoping.

I couldn't agree more, and their is no guarantee St Louis puts us over the top. But there is a much greater chance of him being a difference maker then there is of a guy like Fast and Lindberg becoming studs.

Are you happy with the mediocre team those players you listed have formed? Hell 2 of the 7 were so good we couldnt get rid of them fast enough, and callahan is now no longer wanted on the team?

Everyone talks about how this team is mediocore, and then they say we should keep building our team like we built this one. It makes no sense

I feel like if we actually do get MSL, the deal is going to be highly questionable in terms of whatever picks/prospects go the other way. Basically, we have to hope that we are not giving up a top-notch prospect in the deal. I'd be okay with a Fast or Lindberg...Kristo to a lesser extent.

I don't see how we make this deal and NOT give up a 1st...but that's just me.

My guesstimate is that if the Rangers cannot bag MSL by 3PM, that they'll keep Callahan as an own-rental. If they can't hammer out a deal before the draft, the Rangers will try again for MSL. If they land Marty at the draft, the PR spin will be "Well, we knew Marty was going to wind up here, so that softens the blow of losing Callahan for nothing."

That is the exact point, only two legitimate nhler's are on that list of 1st and second round draft picks from pre lock out.

The bolded were so successful we traded them in their prime, and what exactly did those players lead us too besides an annual battle for the 6-8 seed in the playoffs?

Except if you look at most of the successful teams in the league year in and year out, they ARE mostly homegrown. Just because Ranger management is bad at it doesn't mean it's not a good argument.

Cally and two #1's would be a DREADFUL trade for the Rangers. You know how many players that are much younger and loaded with talent that you could get for the same package?

This is a mortgage the future deal...for what!? NO way they get to the cup with or without MSL.

Tradecentre - Ferraro, Aaron Ward, and I believe Marty Biron was on before. A lot of former Rangers. McGuire - says deal makes Rangers a dangerous team. He thinks this will be huge for Brad Richards.
