Trade Callahan. For the love of GOD, please.

It's already frustrating to watch him slowly morph into a turnover machine.

I used to love him. I WANT to still love him. But if he gets any of these rumored contracts (either the 6x6 NYR offered or more), I'm going to HATE him. He's going to cripple our cap and I'll hate him for it.

By the end? Probably by the middle of next season when his production continues to dip as he gets no PP time.
 
I don't know what to say. 6M had me at a loss for words. If we go north of that I'm going to have a hard time not trading in my Rangers jersey and calling it quits. Maybe I'll pray for the Islanders to get better or just pick a team to root for in a game by game basis. I simply can't stomach this move. It will force me to eventually hate a player I used to love and it shows beyond any doubt that this team has learned nothing.
 
Be prepared for some Sather garbage about how the Rangers' long-term captain is more important to them compared to other teams.

It'll be pure ********, especially when the underlying reason Callahan is SO important is because Sather hasn't been able to build a capable roster during his entire tenure.

once Callahan signs this contract, Zucc's demands go up as an RFA, Kreider's, etc.. both are better players at this stage.
 
Callahan needs to go. He's always been extremely overrated by the fans, and management. His demands are absolutely outrageous, and he is forcing Sather's hand.

The team is better without him.
 
MSL is one thing...a dynamic offensive player who still impacts the game on a nightly basis. Hemsky??!! Really? Please tell me that Garrioch is the source for that tripe. Oh, and Callahan, please stay strong and save this front office from themselves.
 
Please trade him, I dont want him to be grouped in the same group as Gomez, Drury, guys who I absolutely hated when they were here and signed those deals.. This is a guy I grew up loving as a player, please just trade him.

Who said he sucks? I said it's been 4 years and he's still not ready. When do we begin to say it was a mistake?

I would agree if we're talking about years 3-6 of the contract, which should obviously play a role.

You are talking out of your ass if you mean right now.
 
The latest on Callahan
Sources confirm that Ryan Callahan has softened somewhat of late in his contract demands, but as of Monday morning he's still not close to a deal with the Rangers.

Recently, the Rangers captain dropped his term request from seven years, which had been a major sticking point, to six years, sources confirmed.

But the money he's asking, somewhere just south of $6.5 million a source said, remains too much money for the Rangers, whom I believe would do a 6-year, $6 million per contract.

Doesn't seem like they're that far apart at this point. But if that remaining gap doesn't close further over the next couple of days, the Rangers seem intent to trade him.

Just doesn't seem right to see Callahan wear another uniform. Hopefully both sides can further reduce this gap.

But, intangibles!

He is becoming bigger than he really is. It happens with all people ding UFAs. They realize some team will greatly overpay and demand their current team give them that. Slowly they move to being slightly overpaid, or here, an general overpayment. Guy is worth 5.5AAV. Nothing more.

Although Girardi at 5.5AAV left 6.5 for Callahan. It was rumored they did not want to go over the threshold of 12 million total for both. This would be meeting that number.

I don't want to hate him but I'm going to. This both sucks and blows.
 
They aren't that far apart, he's not going to freaking leave over 450K give me a break, he's trying to get everything he can before signing.

IT WILL HAPPEN
