What's ****ed up is that in 48 hours, Callahan could still be a Ranger AND still not extended, so all of these conversations could continue for another 4 months.

I've been saying for months that this is the most likely scenario. I'm sure most of the board is fine with that considering the amount of posters that enjoy using Callahan as virtual pinata.

Saw you post this earlier. Don't agree with it but I understand every one feels differently. I do agree that Sather is a bit out of touch with reality.

A good GM should look out for the best interest of his team. An agent should look out for the best interest of his client. The deal, if one is reached, is more of a battle of sheer will power than it is compromise. The Girardi deal was an exception, but you'll often see a player getting paid way more than he deserves (so many examples). It's the GMs job to limit the damage it would inflict on the team's salary cap. Sather has done an extremely poor job of doing that.

Just my view on things at least

Don't know if Eklund is a VALID rumor so I'm posting it here. Anything for XXX

Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏@Eklund 2m

The Rangers are working a deal to get Marty St. Louis without giving up Callahan

Well, that sounds...not very promising. It would mean we would send players that we actually value longterm and who can contribute just as much as Callahan.

Thank God it's Eklund

jeez if its not with cally theyre gonna gut the team for st louis, wonder if richards will go back

Changed my mind

I was all for letting Callahan go more I think about it, despite the lack of points, I think if he goes, we are going to regret it. I can definitely see threads like last year when were in playoffs and we were all saying how it would be nice to have Dubi and AA right now while Nash was in tank mode and doing squat for us. I still would make the deal knowing what I know now but I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm a bit disappointed in the results thus far from Nash, Dorsett and Moore.

Anyways, I can't get past fact that Cally's compete level is at elite level for this team especially and he does all the blue collar things you need to be successful in the playoffs. We don't have anyone like him. I think he'll be missed. I hate it and I feel ****** a bit saying this cause he definitely isn't worth it but I think Sather has to use whatever sales skills he has and get him to sign for something decently reasonable($6.3?) unless he can pull off some magic at the trade deadline and get good return for him. I don't want to lose him for nothing. If there is one thing Sather has done fairly well in his tenor it is making deals and so I have faith if he deals Cally, he'll get solid return. But if he can't deal him, we have to sign him. With the cap going up pretty significantly, I think $6.2 or 6.3 mill isn't as horrible as it would have been.

Wasn't it part of a discussion about how Boomer was most likely wrong on his "scoop?"

I think it was suggested that it was odd that Stevie Y hadn't denied the rumors.

And then someone said "GMs never respond to trade rumors, why would he respond."

Since then, I've randomly posted 3-4 articles of GMs currently responding to trade rumors to squash them.

Were going to re-sign Callahan and trade for MSL and Right-Wing our way to superiority. :propeller

Has to be Hagelin going the other way. Only logical wing that makes sense.

I just don't see that. Hags is signed through next season at a good cap hit. I doubt it.

If anything I could see Fast being part of it, and a draft pick. Perhaps even another prospect or someone like Stralman

Wait so Tampa Bay DOESN'T WANT Callahan? What's wrong with them? They'd have negotiating power! They'd have the opportunity to give the man 6 years for 6 million per before any team could swoop in!

Stevie Y, what's wrong with you!?!
