No way I let Pleky set his own terms. I respect him but if we are not making the playoffs (very likely), I trade him to a cup contender and recoup future assets. He will get over it
Disagree here. The small return for a rental is not worth it. I prefer trying to send a much needed positive signal to the players all over the league to compensate for the recent russian debacles. Time to get back to the prestigious franchise it was.

I can live without an extra 3rd rounder or B prospect.

i still think Patches should go faster then Chuck,
and here is why

Chuck is young and may come around, Patches is not a captain, as Weber had to have the team over to try to get them fired up,

as well, Patches contract for a contender like STL or PITT, is not a burden...

MB will try to save face, and move one or both of these guys,......but when?

this week is a prime time to make a move

Do not trust him to make any trades, not one. He has been screwed every deal he’s made. GM needs to go before rebuild starts, he is the last guy we need in charge of trading away assets that the club has ruined. MB is not a GM

Colorado is rebuilding. Not happening.
Yes,they are rebuilding that is why the package deal would be for young players like Galchenyuk reunited with Yakupov and Juulsen, and Lindgren,Colorado have 2 older goalies and 1st round pick.

MB will trade him if the best he can get is Pleks and a 7th for a 6th in 2020. Buy a dog if you want loyalty.

Diaz for Weise

Weise and Flash for Danault and a 2nd

Eller for 2 2nds

A 2nd for Petry

Collberg for Vanek

He’s been screwed every deal he’s made? Sure thing boss.

I won’t lie I would trade pac for some d help

With the loss of sergachev , I would look for a D for Weber as a priority

If I had the authority to choose, I'd much rather use one of the few big pieces we can trade, for that elusive no. 1C. Not having that first pairing PMD is no doubt also a need but since this team just can't score on a consistent basis, I'd prioritize scoring first and foremost.

I understand but pac would be a piece interesting enough for a top D. The number 1 C is realistic with Pac and a package I guess. I don’t know , it’s harder to find a premium D then a Center or fwd.

Anything else we have as assets is meh besides Drouin or Galchenyuk.

If it's harder to find the D, then what the hell were we doing trading Sergachev for a forward? Man, this team ...

It was more of a desesperation move for help on offence

In the summer when there were sergachev rumours , Bergevin did say we won’t move Sergachev

It’s hard to blame Bergevin on this one but the media and fans were so annoying with the lack of offence critics that Bergevin reacted

A non-mainstream site argues that Pacioretty's trade value can be approximated by referring to both the Andrew Ladd and Phil Kessel trades:

Thoughts?

Ladd was a UFA. Plus he’s no where close to Pacioretty level.
Kessel’s Contract was an issue. I think Toronto is still paying him so his value wasn’t high because they wanted to get rid of the bad contract.

At $4.5 mil for 2 more seasons, Pacioretty is a steal at that contract especially for a perennial 30 goal scorer.

I expect roster player top 9, top prospect and first round pick.

If San Jose came calling it’s Hertl, Meier and first.
Kings? Kampe Clague and first.

I would want more than this for Pacioretty. I am wanting at least a C back.

Karlsson was asked about a 10 team - no trade list
If Ottawa don't make the playoffs, I think there's a good chance they trade Karlsson in the offseason

Weber for Karlsson would make a ton of sense for both teams
Ottawa trades a guy they might not be able to re-sign, and get back a number 1 D, who's only going to get paid 6 million in actual salary for the next several years, so Melnyk would be saving a ton of money.

We upgrade from Weber to Karlsson, and have the money to give him his huge contract extension

I think that's a pretty good picture.

We should at least expect a non-lottery 1st rounder & a good A-level prospect coming back.

I'd accept McLeod & a 1st from New Jersey for instance.
Sign me up. Exactly the kind of deal i’m hoping for. Not sure NJ is going for it though. Great and unexpected start from me anyway but this is a long season.

To NYI:isles
Max Pacioretty
Carey Price

To MTL:habs
A Signed John Tavares, Pick

To EDM:edmonton
Alex Galchenyuk, Karl Alzner, Mike McCaron

To: :habs
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Puljujarvi

I'm overpaying but I'm getting some decent stuff back that will allow the team to grown long term.
